Su Wanting realized she couldn’t compete, her eyes shifting as she began to flaunt her children, "Wanyu, you have no idea, your nephew and your niece, these two little ones, they really take after my cleverness. They’ve been good at reading books since they were little. Ever since they started school, they’ve always been first or second in every test. Their teachers love them to bits. Every parents’ eting, they get praised in front of all the other parents."
Su Wanting spoke with smug satisfaction, convinced that the other’s daughter couldn’t possibly surpass her own children!
In that remote little mountain village, what kind of quality education could the children get?
As soon as Jiang Changhai heard this, he imdiately burst into laughter, "Sis, if your two kids are coming in first place at school, do they give out prize money for that?"
"Prize money? No, there’s none of that. They only give prize money to the one who cos first in the grade," Su Wanting didn’t understand why Jiang Changhai suddenly asked that; assuming him to be naive and dazzled by money, she explained casually.
"I see, big sis, then you should get the kids to work harder, strive to co in first in the grade and get that prize money," Jiang Changhai suggested with what seed like genuine advice.
As soon as Su Wanyu heard her husband say this, she knew what he ant. She smiled without trying to stop him from taking jabs at her cousin on her behalf.
Hearing Jiang Changhai’s ignorant remarks, Su Wanting imdiately bristled, "Changhai, you’re from the countryside; it’s normal that you don’t know about the schools over here in Haicheng. In the city schools, each class has forty or fifty students and there are four classes in a grade. Do you have any idea how tough it is to co in first for the grade?"
"Is it tough?" Jiang Changhai asked as if he didn’t understand.
"Of course, it’s tough," Su Wanting stated emphatically.
Jiang Changhai just raised his eyebrows, looking even more amused, "Is that so? But ever since my daughter started school, she’s always been the first in her grade. I thought coming in first was pretty easy."
He spoke softly, but made sure that everyone in the room could hear him.
When Su Wanting heard this, she imdiately shot back, "Changhai, how many kids are there in a grade in your little place? Even if soone gets first in the grade, it’s nothing to boast about. That just ans the kids in your schools aren’t very good."
"Unlike our two kids. Just a few days ago, they took part in the city’s essay competition and both of them ca first in their age groups. Each brought ho a certificate for . Ever since they started school, I don’t know how many certificates they’ve brought ho. There’s no room left on the walls of our house to hang them," Su Wanting said, feigning complaint while in reality, she was showing off.
"Is that so, first place in the city’s essay competition? My daughter can’t beat that, her best achievent is just coming first in the town’s essay competition," Jiang Changhai shook his head with an appearance of regret.
As soon as Su Wanting heard Jiang Changhai say this, she suddenly felt smug. She thought to herself, what remarkable person could Stone Bridge Village possibly produce? Her children were definitely better than Wanyu’s.
However, Jiang Changhai continued, "Although my daughter only got first place in the town’s essay competition, her essay was published in the national newspaper. Big sis, Uncle, Auntie, Brother, Brother-in-law, have you seen it? It’s the one called ’The Future of our Motherland’."
"What? Are you saying that essay was written by your daughter?" Su Wanting exclaid in shock upon hearing this.
