Upon hearing Yu Cheng’s question, he crossed his arms, glanced at him, and said in an exaggerated tone, "Even though we agree on the live-in son-in-law thing, I still need to consider your relationship. Let’s see how you perform."

He used to like Yu Cheng a lot, thinking he was tall, capable, and responsible, and believed that any girl marrying Yu Cheng would be exceptionally lucky.

But after discovering that Yu Cheng had his eyes on his precious daughter, all those good impressions were tossed aside.

Now, when he looked at Yu Cheng, everything seed wrong.

"Alright, Uncle Jiang, I’ll show my best and make you satisfied." Despite Jiang Changhai’s nitpicking, Yu Cheng maintained a good attitude.

Jiang Mianmian, watching her dad behave this way, didn’t dare to intervene.

She knew that at tis like this, she should remain silent and neutral. If she showed any favoritism toward Yu Cheng, her dad would feel quite upset.

Jiang Mianmian wasn’t wrong. Jiang Changhai didn’t actually dislike Yu Cheng; he was just being a typical father-in-law who found fault with his son-in-law.

When Jiang Changhai was getting ready to go to the maternity store, he kept glancing at Yu Cheng.

Yu Cheng got the hint and stood up to take his leave, knowing that until Uncle Jiang gave his approval, any alone ti with Mianmian was out of the question.

Though they couldn’t be alone, Yu Cheng has been visiting the Jiang Family more frequently these days.

Every evening, when Jiang Changhai and Su Wanyu got off work, Yu Cheng would bring groceries over to join them for dinner.

Previously, when Yu Cheng dined at the Jiang Family’s house, he would sit next to Jiang Mianmian. But these days, Jiang Changhai insisted on separating them, not letting them sit together. Even Jiang Mianmian thought her dad was being childish.

Yu Cheng, on the other hand, seed more mature than Jiang Changhai. Whatever Jiang Changhai asked, he would comply. If he was told not to sit next to Jiang Mianmian, he wouldn’t. If they couldn’t hold hands, he’d take the opportunity to secretly do so when Jiang Changhai wasn’t looking.

Though Jiang Changhai deliberately found faults, he still trusted Yu Cheng deeply. After all, Yu Cheng was soone he’d watched grow up, and he knew his character. Over the years, he’d always kept an eye on how Yu Cheng treated Mianmian.

One evening, after dinner at the Jiang Family’s, Yu Cheng caught a mont to speak with Jiang Mianmian, all the while under Jiang Changhai’s watchful gaze.

Before he could finish, Jiang Changhai interjected, "Yu Cheng, it’s getting late. You should be heading back. It’s not safe to drive at night; whatever you have to say can wait till tomorrow."

Yu Cheng had grown accustod to Jiang Changhai’s behavior over the past few days. He gave Jiang Mianmian a look, signaling to connect by phone later, then stood up and said, "Uncle Jiang is right, I should be going. Uncle Jiang, Aunt Wan, Mianmian, I’ll be off now. I’ll co by if I have ti tomorrow."

"Oh, Xiao Cheng, I’ll see you out," Su Wanyu said, giving Jiang Changhai a side-eye before escorting Yu Cheng out with a smile.

After seeing Yu Cheng off, Su Wanyu returned with a stern expression and said to Jiang Changhai, "Brother Hai, that’s enough. Don’t be so hard on the kid; Yu Cheng’s temperant is pretty good."

Understanding Jiang Changhai’s concerns, Su Wanyu had kept quiet while watching him give Yu Cheng a hard ti. She initially thought Jiang Changhai would only be awkward for a few days, but after seeing it continue for half a month, she finally couldn’t stand it anymore and stepped in to persuade him.
