"How can that be? You only co back once in several years, and you flew all the way here just to see us, the old couple. You must stay for a few days and let us treat you to so good food." The old lady truly saw Fang Zhiyuan as her own child. Seeing how thin he was, she wanted to make him sothing delicious to nourish him well.

Early in the morning, Jiang Changfeng was pulled out of bed by her mom, teaching her to mix stuffing and bake pancakes. Her mom insisted that when she went to Xiangcheng, she should make so stuffed pancakes and send them to Fang Zhiyuan when she had ti.

She found it both funny and a little helpless, but she still obediently agreed.

After all, Fang Zhiyuan helped her a lot with the solar power station issue.

They were good friends, and if she had the chance in the future, it was only right to make him so of her hotown’s food.

Fang Zhiyuan watched the old lady busily working in the kitchen and didn’t hurry to the living room. Instead, he stayed in the kitchen, chatting with the two.

After breakfast, Fang Zhiyuan saw it wasn’t early anymore. He looked at the old couple, reluctant to leave, "Uncle Jiang, Aunt Jiang, it’s getting late. My flight is in the afternoon, I have to go."

"Leaving so soon? Ti has flown by, it feels like you just got here. Zhiyuan, co and visit whenever you have the chance," Zhang Guihua urged, holding Fang Zhiyuan’s hand.

"Yes, Zhiyuan, consider Uncle Jiang’s place as your own ho, and co back often if you can," Jiang Dashan added softly.

"Alright, Uncle Jiang, Aunt Jiang, I’ll co by again after the New Year if I have ti," Fang Zhiyuan nodded slightly, agreeing.

"Laidi, Uncle Fang is leaving, study well at ho," Fang Zhiyuan gently said to Laidi, who was standing beside him.

"Goodbye, Uncle Fang, I will miss you," Laidi said, looking up at Fang Zhiyuan, trying hard to hold back tears as she bid farewell.

Fang Zhiyuan gently ruffled Laidi’s hair, "Uncle Fang will miss you too."

This ti when he returned, Laidi had grown up a lot, but her dependence on him was still like when she was little.

On the twenty-seventh day of the twelfth lunar month, governnt departnts had a unified holiday. Jiang Mianmian’s family went to the Supply and Marketing Cooperative to buy mutton, fat fish, prawns, greens, fruits, all sorts of pastries, and candies—bags and bags of stuff, and happily returned to Stone Bridge Village.

They didn’t buy pork because the village killed a pig for the New Year every year and divided the at. With a large family, they always got a good portion.

Jiang Mianmian also used her own money to custom-make several quilts of varying thickness, sheets, and quilt covers for the old couple.

The ones they were using were long overdue for replacent, having been used for more than ten years and not keeping warm at all.

Though the old lady had money on hand now, the thrift of her generation was ingrained in her bones. They felt that having sothing to cover up with was enough and saw no need for new ones.

"Grandpa, Grandma, Little Aunt, we’re back," Jiang Mianmian exclaid excitedly as soon as she walked in.

"Mianmian’s back! Co warm yourself by the stove, you must be freezing," the old lady said in joy, going over to pull her little granddaughter to the fire stove, her heart aching as she touched Mianmian’s cold little face.

"Grandma, I’m not cold. I’m wearing a down jacket," Jiang Mianmian said, though she still followed the old lady over to the stove. It was important to appreciate the elder’s kindness.

Jiang Changfeng saw her little niece being so well-behaved and went over to ruffle her hair.

"Mom and Dad, these are the New Year’s goods we bought back. These quilts, sheets, and quilt covers are what Mianmian bought with her own money. You can use them for the New Year. Let us know if anything’s missing, and I’ll go out and buy it tomorrow," Jiang Changhai said with vigor, placing the items on the table.
