Chapter 68: Chapter 68: That Hits Hard, President Li

Mo Baiyou’s lips curved into a thin smile that felt like a warm spring breeze, “Mo Shuai? Hmm, that does sound like a rather nice appellation.”

“Of course! You’re the first handso uncle who’s made my heart flutter!” That deadbeat dad doesn’t count; no matter how good-looking he is, his disreputable character has deducted all his points in my book.

“Alright, whatever you call , uncle likes it. Yichu, your daughter is really adorable.” Mo Baiyou said quite naturally, inadvertently changing Ning Yichu’s address in the process. It gave her a mont’s strange illusion, but seeing Mo Baiyou’s calm and composed deanor, it was as if he was rely paying a cordial visit to an old friend.

Ning Yichu didn’t make an effort to redraw any lines, “Thank you, this imp looks cute on the outside but houses a little devil inside.”

“Woo, Mommy, don’t badmouth in front of Mo Shuai…” The usually whimsical Ningning unexpectedly objected.

Ning Yichu inhaled a cool breath, was it the little imp’s good looks that dictated justice?

...

After chatting for a while, Ning Yichu ntioned she would be discharged soon and suggested Mo Baiyou could head back to work if his company needed him, as she had felt his kindness.

Finding herself with such a considerate and caring boss was indeed her good fortune.

But Mo Baiyou shifted the conversation, “Looking at your complexion, it hasn’t quite recovered. If you check out now, it might be hard to call a cab. Why don’t I take you ho?”

“I’m afraid that might take up too much of your ti.”

“It’s no trouble; I just happen to have so errands to run near Junyue Mansion.” Mo Baiyou spoke with a very gentle tone.

Ning Yichu was startled. How did he know she lived at Junyue Mansion? She couldn’t recall ever having told him.

“You haven’t forgotten, have you? You filled out your detailed ho address when you joined the company, right?” Mo Baiyou’s lips curled into a refined smile. When his clear eyes mirrored her flickers of doubt, she looked like an innocent deer, irresistibly making one’s heart itch.

Ning Yichu scratched her head, feigning nonchalance, “I haven’t forgotten. I just thought it might be inconvenient for you…”

“You helped last ti; now I help you. It’s mutually beneficial.”

Since he put it that way, Ning Yichu couldn’t refuse anymore. She packed up her belongings with Aunt Wang—having stayed only one day, there weren’t many things to take—and they proceeded to the parking lot.

The hospital’s parking was an open-air ground-level area, where they enjoyed free parking with their patient ticket.

While Ning Yichu was searching for the ticket, she got distracted and failed to notice a step. Her body swayed, and she almost stumbled.

“Be careful!” Mo Baiyou’s reflexes were quick, his long arm deftly catching her wrist. His broad, slightly warm palm rested on her soft, delicate backhand.

Ning Yichu inadvertently looked into his deep, abyss-like eyes. The sound of the man’s strong heartbeat thumped loudly, and they fell silent for two seconds.

“Thank you, Mr. Mo…” Ning Yichu felt a flash of embarrassnt cross her mind and quickly straightened her posture, maintaining a basic social distance from him.

“Still calling Mr. Mo? I thought we were good friends by now.” Mo Baiyou chuckled lightly, teasing her with his low, sensual voice, which seed to spread silently like the lody of a cello to every corner.

Won are often very sensitive about certain things, even Ning Yichu, who had been divorced for five years. But then she considered that Mo Baiyou had always maintained a spotless reputation in the company; nurous female designers had tried to offer themselves to him yet ended up in dismal failure.

Ning Yichu wouldn’t flatter herself to think she could make such an accomplished man fall for her in such a short ti.

She probably figured he felt indebted to her for helping him buy dicine last ti.

“Baiyou,” she called softly.

His na, coming from her lush, pretty lips, struck straight to his heart.

“Get in the car. I’ll take care of the ticket…”

Across the street at another parking lot, Li Lingyang had solved his company’s network paralysis problem in the afternoon and specially went to a six-star hotel to pack dinner, intending to deliver it to Ning Yichu.

He thought that since he had paid, she would likely stay another night.

However, what he didn’t expect was to see Mo Baiyou, arm in arm with Ning Yichu, leaving the hospital with smiles and laughter!

What was most glaring to him was that Ningning, who would usually glare and huff at him, was now clinging to Mo Baiyou like a lively little angel, sweetly calling out “Mo Shuai,” as if they were old friends!

Li Lingyang watched helplessly as the group got into the car.

Mo Baiyou naturally and considerately fastened Ning Yichu’s seat belt, and whatever he whispered to her, Ning Yichu clearly pushed him away playfully, as if they were a couple exchanging sweet nothings, each gesture sharpening the sting!

In the morning when he had been taking care of her, she was lukewarm, like an aloof iceberg, but in Mo Baiyou’s presence, she was so relaxed and cheerful!

A surge of intense jealousy rose in his chest, and his handso face darkened with it, the carefully packed dinner now seed like a mocking joke, laughing at his unrequited love.

With a loose grip, the dinner fell to the ground, and an auntie selling pancake fruit nearby kindly reminded him, “Young man, you’ve dropped sothing.”

Li Lingyang picked up the thermal box without a glance and threw it straight into the trash can, striding away.

The auntie stared in astonishnt, “These young people nowadays, throwing away sothing so nicely packaged just like that? What a waste…”

Mo Baiyou brought Ning Yichu ho, and Ningning actually invited Mo Baiyou inside like a maiden with a budding spring heart, to sit for a while, maybe have dinner or sothing.

Ning Yichu looked at Ningning and warned, “Uncle Mo is busy with work, don’t make trouble, okay?”

Ningning’s eyes brimd with water, “Mo Shuai, are you leaving?”

Though Mo Baiyou had countless affairs to manage and had co nearby for a special reason, Ning Yichu thought he would mostly decline, but the next second, she heard Mo Baiyou, without hesitation, murmuring, “Hmm, Ningning has invited to dinner, with such warmth, how could I refuse?”

“Yay, Mommy, did you hear? Mo Shuai decided to stay…”

Ning Yichu, “…”

What more could she say? Was she supposed to drive Mo Baiyou away…?

As dinner ti approached, Aunt Wang indeed went out to buy groceries.

Although there was a child at ho, the ho is ultimately a person’s most private place. In order to alleviate the invisible awkwardness, Ning Yichu took the initiative to give Mo Baiyou a tour.

The apartnt had a three-bedroom layout, one master, one children’s room, and the remaining one was her small workshop.

She sowhat regretted setting up this workshop.

Because at first, she thought she would stay in Imperial City for a long ti, so she wanted to have everything ready, including buying expensive equipnt such as a cutting machine, a grinding disc, and a dental carving machine, among other necessary tools.

To avoid disturbing the neighbors, she had even installed soundproofing material.

In the corner, there was also a large box that contained various stones or jade materials, and one very valuable raw material she was working on for a client, Old Gu.

Just this material alone was worth over a million, and whenever she left the house, she feared it would attract thieves.

In addition to these large jade carvings, she would also carve small trinkets for the two children, such as radish figures, wooden toys…
