Chapter 367: Chapter 367: Ning Yichu hears his secret, social death once again!

The attending doctor asked with so confusion, “Mr. Li, do you feel unwell in any way?”

Li Lingyang’s eyes darkened as he pressed his lips together. “Go check if there’s anyone in the hallway.”

The attending doctor imdiately went out to investigate, dismissing the bodyguards at the door before closing it behind him and returning.

“Mr. Li, now it’s just the two of us here. Whatever you want to say, feel free to speak openly.”

Li Lingyang’s expression was sowhat grim.

“When I accidentally tugged on my wound earlier, my thigh hurt terribly. Will this cause further complications for ?”

“That, I can’t say for sure. A secondary injury generally does have a chance of worsening your condition.”

The attending doctor sighed. “Mr. Li, you acted too rashly. The wound hasn’t fully healed; how could you get out of bed like that…?”

Li Lingyang couldn’t absorb the latter half of the sentence at all.

That single phrase echoed repeatedly in his mind…

The problem has gotten worse!!

“Is there any way to redy this situation?” When it ca to matters like this, Li Lingyang’s deanor turned sharp and chilled.

The attending doctor pondered for a mont. “Mr. Li, these past two days when you wake up early, or when you think of certain intimate scenarios, have you experienced any response?”

“…No.”

Li Lingyang was on the verge of ntally crashing, his face covered with a layer of frosty chill.

“It only feels disgusting!”

“This condition of yours is worse than I anticipated, but these are common aftereffects of an injury like yours. My suggestion would be to temporarily first—”

Before the doctor could finish, a faint noise ca from outside.

“!!”

Li Lingyang’s expression changed drastically, and he nearly jumped out of bed in alarm.

“Who’s out there?!”

The attending doctor froze.

He hurried out and found the hallway completely empty, not even a shadow in sight.

“Mr. Li, there’s no one outside. It’s probably just a draft blowing through…”

Thinking of the earlier sound, the suspicion in Li Lingyang’s dark eyes didn’t diminish. “Check again.”

“Understood!”

The attending doctor carefully inspected the surrounding area inch by inch before returning.

“Mr. Li, there’s nothing here. It was likely just an accident.”

Could he really just be overly paranoid?

Li Lingyang’s gaze shifted to the white phone on the bedside table. He pressed his lips together in silence.

Ning Yichu stood stiffly in the elevator.

Her heart was pounding wildly, almost as if it were about to jump out of her chest.

Earlier, she had been planning to take Ningning for a routine check-up, only to realize she had forgotten sothing in the hospital room.

So, she turned back to retrieve it.

Unexpectedly, as she reached the door, she overheard Li Lingyang’s conversation with the attending doctor…

She was completely stunned on the spot.

Li Lingyang… He, he, he actually…

His gunshot wound—it actually affected his…

Guilt welled up within her, an inexplicable and lingering sense of remorse.

Regardless of what had happened before, looking at it now, Li Lingyang was indeed quite pitiful.

In order to save the child, he ended up injured and confined to this hospital bed, yet she and the children kept treating him so indifferently…

From now on, she should treat him a bit better!

After lingering outside for a long ti and calming her emotions, Ning Yichu put on an air of having heard nothing and continued heading downstairs.

Downstairs at the private hospital.

The midday sun was warm, and a gentle breeze blew through, rustling the clivia flowers in the small garden.

Two adorable little ones sat on an orange wooden swing, eating ice cream and kicking their short little legs back and forth.

“Why is Mommy taking so long just to go back upstairs for her phone?” Ningning tilted her little head and asked.

A mont ago, Ning Yichu had realized she’d forgotten sothing and told them to wait for her here.

“Maybe she’s talking to scummy dad,” Chen Bao said, softly pressing his tender lips together. Thinking about scummy dad, he sighed a bit. “Scummy dad is all injured in body and spirit now. It’s not a bad idea for Mommy to spend more ti talking to him.”

Ningning stopped swinging for a mont and widened her eyes in surprise. “Big brother, are you speaking up for scummy dad?!”

“Uh…”

Thinking of a post he’d recently seen on a forum, Chen Bao hesitated for a mont before answering unusually, “I just feel like he’s a little pitiful right now.”

“But when Mommy used to be pitiful, scummy dad never cared about her at all,” Ningning said, swinging her small legs on the swing again. “So I still think Uncle Mo Shuai is better, because when Mommy has trouble, he actually steps up!”

Chen Bao wanted to defend Li Lingyang but, after thinking it over, realized this argunt was pretty valid.

Sighing softly, he said, “It still depends on what Mommy decides.”

Ningning took a bite of her ice cream. “Anyway, my vote goes to Uncle Mo Shuai.”

Then the little girl blinked her big eyes and looked at Chen Bao. “Big brother, did you hear what scummy dad and Mommy were saying about Saint Lya Hospital just now? It sounds like the fire wasn’t an accident…”

Chen Bao’s small face, barely the size of a palm, beca serious and pensive. “I’ll look into it over the next couple of days.”

After taking the elevator down from the inpatient wing, Ning Yichu spotted the two adorable little ones not far away.

She shook her head, trying to clear out the ssy thoughts.

The current priority wasn’t dwelling on Li Lingyang…

It was uncovering the truth behind the fire years ago, as well as the reason behind Doctor Antony’s death!

“Chen Bao, Ningning…” Ning Yichu called out to the little ones, quickly approaching them.

“Mommy~” the two of them chid in their soft, adorable voices.

Ning Yichu briefly explained the situation. “Well, Mommy needs to take samples of your hair for a DNA test. Is that okay?”

Normally, this sort of thing wouldn’t be brought up to the children.

But they had likely overheard Li Lingyang talking about this in the hospital room anyway. Plus, they were very smart, so she decided to just be open about it.

If she tried to hide it and they later found out she was doing DNA tests in secret, it would only hurt them more.

“O,” Ningning’s mouth opened wide in shock. “So… so Mommy, you and Uncle Mo Shuai suspect there might have been sothing wrong with the delivery years ago? That our identities might be… questioned…”

Chen Bao also beca visibly tense, asking nervously, “Were we… switched at birth??”

“Big brother looks so much like scummy dad, and you already had a paternity test. There’s no problem at all. But …”

Every ti, the results had failed!

Before, she had always chalked it up to the bone marrow donation. But what if the truth of her identity had been obscured because of the bone marrow?

Ningning’s little face suddenly stiffened, her expression as serious as if she were preparing for battle.

“Ningning, don’t let your imagination run wild. We are definitely a family. Uncle Mo and the others are just using the process of elimination to investigate all the possible events that could have happened in the delivery room back then.”

Seeing the two little ones’ tense and doubtful faces, Ning Yichu quickly reassured them. “Chen Bao is right. Mommy just wants to eliminate so possibilities. You will always be my most beloved children.”

Shortly after, they arrived at the lab and submitted hair samples from all three of them for DNA testing.

DNA paternity testing is very important and cannot be done carelessly. Typically, it takes three to four days to get results.

In three days’ ti, they would finally learn whether the children had been switched at birth all those years ago…
