Chapter 29: Chapter 29: Escape by the Skin of One’s Teeth

The woman, holding the child, turned around in confusion, revealing a face he didn’t recognize.

“Do you need sothing?” the woman asked with wide eyes.

Li Lingyang withdrew his hand, his gaze cold, “Wrong person, you can go now.”

“Crazy.” The woman cursed and disappeared.

Not far away, Ning Yichu had just barely escaped Li Lingyang’s surveillance range. Her mind was a blank slate; she had almost been discovered by that bastard with his piercing gaze.

She dared not take the main roads anymore and had to turn onto smaller paths, running this way and that, with no idea where she ended up.

...

Just as she decided to study a map, she suddenly heard soone behind her calling out.

Instinctively hugging Chen Bao tighter, she peered to the side and saw a young man in a suit erging.

As he approached, Ning Yichu realized it was the kindly man she had encountered at Beiji Group.

“I thought I was mistaken, but it really is you.” The man, with one hand in his pocket and an elegantly casual pose, smiled a warm and gentle smile.

Ning Yichu asked, puzzled, “What are you doing here?”

“Inspecting the amusent park.”

“You’re an executive here?” Ning Yichu expressed her surprise.

“Sothing like that, I have a small share.” The man, dressed in a silver-grey suit that heightened his already tall stature, his gaze falling on the child in her arms, asked, “Is this your son?”

Ning Yichu wanted to deny it, but the words wouldn’t co out.

The man scrutinized her expression carefully, just as an announcent looking for a child ca through the broadcast. Seeing sothing in her deanor, he smiled and said, “Why is it that every ti I et you, you’re in such a ss?”

Ning Yichu, exasperated, said, “Sir, since you’re an executive here, you must be familiar with the layout. Do you know any passages that can get out of here quickly?”

“The amusent park has been reinforced; only the four main gates are accessible. However, I’ve heard that the President of Li Group had sothing important stolen by a child and has now got his bodyguards strictly investigating at all the gates. Nobody can leave.”

Ning Yichu gritted her teeth in frustration. Stolen? That bastard had quite the imagination!

“Isn’t there any other way?” she asked, desperate and sweating profusely.

“Do you really want to leave that badly?”

Isn’t that obvious? Ning Yichu nodded, “Yes.”

“I have a helicopter on top of that building over there. I can take you out through the air.”

Ning Yichu was overwheld with shock. Although she already owed him a lot, considering the reality and safety, she still asked for his help, offering to pay a significant fee as if renting the helicopter.

The man just smiled lightly, said nothing, and led her all the way to the helicopter.

“Thank you!” Ning Yichu hugged Chen Bao tightly, overflowing with gratitude.

“It’s no problem, we’re colleagues after all. We’ll probably et a lot more at Beiji in the future.”

Ning Yichu felt a bit awkward, “I’ve also washed your clothes; I’ll bring them to you when I go to work at the group in a few days.”

“That’s fine.”

After that, the journey was silent; Ning Yichu didn’t say anything more, just holding Chen Bao close.

Chen Bao lay in Ning Yichu’s arms throughout the entire journey, hiding his face, but when the helicopter took off, he couldn’t help but peek stealthily at the ground below. Everything was shrinking in size yet clearer than from an airplane.

It was a novel experience for him, and like many boys, he had a particular fondness for the thrill of adrenaline surges.

The helicopter left the amusent park and landed at another park two kiloters away.

Once landed, Ning Yichu thanked him and hurried off the helicopter with Chen Bao.

The man watched the direction in which Ning Yichu fled, his gaze deep and distant.

“Mummy, I don’t think I’ve seen that uncle before.”

Ning Yichu explained, “He works for Beiji, and this is only the second ti I’ve t him.”

“He seems like a nice uncle, even lent you clothes?”

“Lent them during the interview last ti; I’ve had no chance to return them.” Ning Yichu hugged Chen Bao tightly and ran to a safe location, panting, “Alright, Li Lingyang probably won’t expect that we’ve already gotten out, right?”

Chen Bao’s mind was sizing up Mo Baiyou, planning to check up on him later on.

“Let’s split up here then. I’ll find an internet café to deal with the surveillance. Mommy, you go pick up Ningning.”

Ning Yichu hesitated, “Can you manage alone?”

“I’m Super Chen Bao.”

Ning Yichu’s heart lted. She planted a fierce kiss on her son’s small face, “Baby, you’ve been put through so much, wait until we pick up Ningning, then Mommy will make it all up to you.”

Chen Bao’s proud cheeks flushed slightly, “Go on now, don’t make Ningning wait too long.”

In fact, Ningning was currently with Doudou, already back within the bodyguards’ view, very safe; but seeing bodyguards everywhere made her anxious.

She didn’t know if Mommy had managed to escape with brother…

“Doudou, let’s go pester Daddy so he won’t have the energy to look for brother,” Ningning’s mischievous mind whirled, and she suddenly said to Doudou.

Doudou’s doe-like wet eyes fluttered, and, grabbing Ningning’s hand, they went to find Li Lingyang.

At this mont, Li Lingyang stood by the main gate like a stoic deity of death, scrutinizing each kid in line, creating an exceptionally frosty atmosphere all around.

In fact, a bodyguard had noticed a helicopter taking off earlier and, after asking, learned that the park’s mysterious big boss had co for an inspection today. No one would have thought that child was connected to the park’s boss, so they didn’t report it up the chain.

Li Lingyang was growing impatient from not being able to find Chen Bao, but just at that mont, Doudou ca trotting in her little shoes, hugging his leg tight, demanding he play with her.

“Bad Uncle, hello there. We et again.” Ningning also ca out at just the right mont, greeting him.

She had concocted a perfect story about coming specifically to play with Doudou.

Li Lingyang’s gaze flickered but he did not press further, assuming the two kids had made private plans. He was just surprised to see Ningning with no nanny beside her.

“Doudou, Daddy has very important things to do right now. Let Mommy and brother play with you.”

Doudou’s little mouth turned down plaintively, looking as if she might cry at any mont.

Li Lingyang continued to gently soothe her, “Daddy really has sothing to do.”

Doudou pretended to be angry and let go of his leg, rubbing her eyes with her little chubby hands, looking as innocent as can be, as if accusing Li Lingyang of promising to play with her and then leaving her all alone!

Li Lingyang felt helpless, when had Doudou started being so “lively”?

Special Assistant Xu saw this scene and fully exercised the adaptability of an exceptional subordinate, “President Li, it’s rare for you to bring Little Miss out to play. Why don’t you go ahead and I’ll keep a lookout here? As soon as I find that child’s whereabouts, I’ll inform you imdiately.”

Li Lingyang was tough with everyone else but soft when it ca to his daughter.

“I’ll leave this to you then.”

“Yes.”

After giving instructions, Li Lingyang left to play with the two kids.

It was strange, in the past Ningning never let him carry her. He’d touch her little braids and she’d wear a displeased expression on her face.

But today, she was…

“Bad Uncle, Doudou and I want to ride this little spaceship. Co with us, won’t you?”

“Ahh, walking is so tiring. Carry …”

“My tummy is a bit hungry; I want so juice.”

Had he not been sure it was still that little girl, Li Lingyang would have almost suspected Doudou had found a new friend.

While led astray by the two little girls and moving further and further away from the main gate, Li Lingyang felt a chill in his brow, and that’s when he received a call from Shen Jiangqing.
