lody Lancaster saw everything!
A mont ago, Wyatt Sterling had touched her face while the car window was down.
’He must have done it on purpose. He knew lody Lancaster was standing right there, yet he still made that intimate gesture, making sure she would see it...’
After getting out of the car, Alice York stood still, waiting for lody Lancaster to approach and confront her.
lody Lancaster did walk over to her, but contrary to Alice’s expectations, she wasn’t angry. She didn’t ask any questions, nor did she give her a cold look. Instead, she smiled and said, "You’re back, Alice."
Alice was taken aback.
lody Lancaster stood before her with perfect composure, her expression practically flawless. "I heard Young Mr. Churchill brought you back this morning, and then you went out with your Third Uncle this afternoon. Where did you go to have fun? Did you have a good ti?"
A flicker of doubt crossed Alice’s mind.
But she quickly understood why lody Lancaster was so calm.
’lody Lancaster had seen it but didn’t let on. It was because she had always understood that only a sensible woman could last by Wyatt Sterling’s side. A direct confrontation was the lowest form of action.’
"Alice, you don’t look so well." A hint of concern appeared in lody Lancaster’s eyes. "Did you not have a good ti?"
As she spoke, lody Lancaster reached out her hand.
Alice stepped back, avoiding her touch. "I actually didn’t have a good ti."
lody Lancaster retracted her hand and smiled curiously. "Why wouldn’t you have fun on an outing? Did your Third Uncle scold you?"
"You can ask Third Uncle. I’m tired. I’m going to go rest."
Alice had no desire to clean up this ss, so she simply fled the scene.
Just then, Wyatt Sterling also got out of the car. His gaze fell on Alice’s retreating figure. lody Lancaster stepped forward to block his line of sight, approaching with a smile. "Wyatt, where have you been? You’re just getting back."
Wyatt Sterling’s tone was indifferent. "Since when do I need to report my whereabouts to you?"
"That’s not what I ant." lody Lancaster linked her arm with his. "I just hadn’t seen you all afternoon, and I missed you."
Wyatt Sterling looked down at her. "How much?"
lody Lancaster bit her red lip. "Every single mont."
A chill filled Wyatt Sterling’s eyes. He pulled his arm away and strode inside, saying as he went, "We’re heading back to Silvanus tomorrow."
"Tomorrow? So soon?"
lody Lancaster hurried to keep up with Wyatt Sterling’s pace. "I haven’t had my fill of fun on this trip to Washington yet."
Wyatt said coolly, "You can stay and play until you’ve had your fill."
"No," lody Lancaster said at once. "I’ll go back with you."
When they reached his suite, Wyatt Sterling pushed the door open and went in. lody Lancaster followed. "So... is Alice going back with us too?" she asked.
Wyatt Sterling turned around, and lody Lancaster froze. A wave of apprehension washed over her, but the mory of what she had seen earlier gave her a quick jolt of courage. "Weren’t you going to leave Alice with the Churchill Family?"
The question hung in the air, and the atmosphere grew tense.
When Wyatt Sterling’s face was devoid of expression, his aura was sharp and overwhelming. A more timid person would have been too intimidated to string a sentence together in his presence.
lody Lancaster had been by his side for a long ti and believed she had a handle on his temperant, but in monts like this, she honestly had no idea what to expect.
"You want Alice to be left with the Churchill Family?"
Wyatt’s voice finally broke the long silence.
"Wyatt, what kind of person do you take for? How could I possibly want Alice to be left behind?"
lody Lancaster’s reaction was perfectly natural. "That Kyle Churchill is obviously no good. I would be extrely worried if Alice stayed with the Churchill Family."
Wyatt Sterling took off his jacket and tossed it on the foot of the bed. "How kind of you."
lody Lancaster gave a sheepish smile. "We might be family one day, after all."
Wyatt Sterling didn’t reply. He unbuttoned his cuffs and sat down on the armchair.
lody Lancaster started to walk over, but before she could get close, Wyatt’s voice, neither loud nor soft, cut through the air. "Get out."
lody Lancaster was reluctant but obediently left.
As night fell, Alice bolted her door from the inside.
’She wasn’t seeing anyone tonight.’
She had just finished washing up and was about to call Zoe Jenson when a knock sounded at her door. She ignored it, but the person outside continued to knock, clearly not intending to leave.
Alice walked to the door, phone in hand. "Who is it?"
"Alice, it’s ."
lody Lancaster’s voice ca from outside the door.
Alice hesitated for a mont before opening the door.
lody Lancaster must have just finished washing up as well. She wore a V-neck silk robe, her full chest pushed up high, a dazzling expanse of pale skin on display.
’That was the cleavage of a truly large bust—a straight line down the middle. Wyatt sure was well-fed,’ Alice sneered inwardly.
"Do you mind if I co in and sit for a bit?" lody Lancaster asked.
Alice had a good idea why she was here, so she didn’t refuse, holding the door open for her.
After coming in, lody Lancaster looked around the room. "This bedroom of yours looks bigger than mine."
Alice replied, "Perhaps it’s due to the layout of the different floors."
lody Lancaster turned to face Alice. "Not necessarily. Wyatt’s bedroom is huge. I use the smaller adjoining room for my luggage, and I just go over to sleep with him at night."
The deliberateness of her words was not lost on Alice.
She gave a slight nod. "That’s nice."
"The big room and the big bed are both wonderful, it’s just that Wyatt always wears out at night." After letting the words slip out as if by accident, lody Lancaster quickly covered her mouth. "Oh, goodness, what am I saying in front of soone younger? Alice, please don’t make fun of ."
A strained smile appeared on Alice’s face. "I’m not a child anymore, Miss Lancaster. You don’t have to be embarrassed. You and Third Uncle are close, and I’m happy for you both."
"Really?"
lody Lancaster suddenly walked towards her.
Alice instinctively took a step back, putting distance between them. Her voice was cool and composed. "Really."
"Oh, good. I was worried I’d spoken out of turn." lody Lancaster noticed Alice’s deliberate withdrawal and didn’t press closer.
She turned and resud her inspection of the room. ntally exhausted and unwilling to play any more gas with lody Lancaster, Alice asked directly, "Miss Lancaster, was there sothing you wanted to say to , coming here so late at night?"
"Oh, right."
lody Lancaster acted as if she had just rembered. She clapped her hands together, her expression turning serious. "Tomorrow morning, your Third Uncle and I are heading back to Silvanus."
Alice said, "I know."
"But you can’t go," lody Lancaster added.
Alice pressed her lips together in silence. She didn’t know what lody Lancaster was going to say, and she didn’t want to hear it, but she had no choice but to wait patiently for her to finish.
"Alice, you probably don’t know, do you? This morning, your older brother, Owen Sterling, was forcibly sent back to Silvanus by Wyatt."
Having said her piece, lody Lancaster watched Alice for a reaction.
Just as she expected, the color drained from Alice’s face. She grew tense. "...But I was told my brother had sothing urgent to take care of and had to rush back to Silvanus."
"That was a lie."
lody Lancaster sighed, her face a mask of helplessness. "Owen Sterling wanted to take you with him, but naturally, your Third Uncle wouldn’t allow it. So he had him forcibly sent back to Silvanus. This ti... your Third Uncle is determined to make you stay in Washington, no matter what. He’s being so cruel to you."
