Rhys Lancaster withdrew his warning gaze and said to Alice York, "A word in private."

Alice York nodded and followed Rhys Lancaster.
Under a large top-hung window with an open view, Alice York opened Vernon Lancaster’s dical file. "Regarding Vernon Lancaster’s condition, feel free to ask about any specifics you’d like to know. I will tell you everything that’s in the chart."
Rhys Lancaster stared at her. "We’re not talking about Vernon Lancaster."
Alice continued flipping through the file. "If not Vernon Lancaster, then do you want to discuss lody Lancaster? I’m sorry, but if it’s about her, she’s not my patient, so I have no right to..."
"Alice York."
Rhys Lancaster said her na.
Alice looked up, her tone perfectly calm. "It seems Young Master Lancaster already knew who I was."
"Already knew? Hah. I wish I’d never known of your existence."
His tone was tinged with undisguised hostility.
Alice frowned. "Young Master Lancaster, if you have sothing to say, please say it directly."
Rhys Lancaster’s eyes turned cold. "Stay away from Holden Locke."
Alice froze for a mont. A few seconds later, as if it had just dawned on her, she stared at Rhys Lancaster in surprise and blurted out, "Young Master Lancaster, are you in love with Professor Locke?"

From Alice’s perspective, it was clear that Rhys Lancaster was barely restraining his anger.
"I’m not into n," he stated flatly.
Alice slowly lowered her head.
Rhys Lancaster assud she was bowing her head to apologize and magnanimously said, "There’s no need to apologize."
Alice pressed her lips together firmly before speaking. "Actually, I just didn’t want Young Master Lancaster to see smiling."

In just a few short sentences, Rhys Lancaster had been left speechless twice. ’I have no idea what Holden sees in her,’ he thought. ’Besides her looks, what’s so likable about her?’
’Especially with her complicated background. If she really got together with Holden, she’d only bring him endless trouble. It’s best to avoid that from the start.’

Alice smiled faintly. "Thank you for the complint, Young Master Lancaster."

At that mont, Rhys Lancaster’s first impression of Alice York hit rock bottom, bordering on disgust. But he could have never imagined that one day in the future, he would willingly offer up everything he owned just to marry her.
"So, does Young Master Lancaster still wish to be briefed on Vernon Lancaster’s dical condition?" Alice asked.
Rhys Lancaster turned and walked away. "No need."
Alice pursed her lips. "How ridiculous."

Alice said nonchalantly, "Suit yourself."

As closing ti approached, Alice received a text from Mason Cheney with a license plate number. She read it, deleted it, and ran into lody Lancaster while taking the elevator from her office.
"Getting off work, Dr. York?" lody Lancaster greeted her politely.
Alice nodded, then asked, "Miss Lancaster, why are you just leaving now?"
lody Lancaster said, "I’m not exactly going ho. I have to stay at the hospital to take care of my dad lately. I’m just taking this chance to go out and buy a few things."
Alice didn’t continue the conversation. Her woman’s intuition told her that lody Lancaster leaving the hospital at the exact sa ti she got off work was no coincidence.
Once outside the hospital, lody Lancaster eagerly looked around and asked, "Alice, are you taking a taxi ho?"
Alice: "I’m walking."
lody Lancaster paused for a second, then laughed. "Are you kidding? Your ho is several kiloters from the hospital."

"Alice, why haven’t you left yet? Has your taxi not arrived?" lody Lancaster asked.
Alice sighed. "I didn’t call a taxi. I had so bad luck today. Your cousin complained about my attitude, and the hospital fined 500 yuan. That’s 500 yuan! It’s enough for a month’s worth of taxi rides for . Forget it, I won’t take a taxi today. I’ll take the subway ho."
