Evan Palr brought out a beautifully wrapped gift.
Maria Carter forced a faint smile, thinking about what Emily Parker had said earlier, hesitated for a mont, and couldn’t help but ask,
“Dad, the laxative you gave today, was it really just a laxative?”
Evan Palr, hearing this, a flicker of unusual color flashed in his eyes, had Maria Carter discovered sothing?
How could that be possible?
Maria Carter and his mother were both naive, how could she notice anything wrong with the dicine.
Evan Palr laughed,
“Of course, it was just a laxative.
Did you give it to Emily Parker?”
Upon hearing this, Maria Carter breathed a sigh of relief; between her father and Emily Parker, she naturally chose to believe her father.
“Ugh, don’t ntion it, won are too cunning.
She didn’t drink the beverage.
Dad, you’re right, that woman is just too crafty, my brother is no match for her.
I won’t let her get away with this; I’ll catch her in her own ga sooner or later.”
Maria Carter said angrily.
Maria Carter was full of anger, and to her increased annoyance, sothing even more infuriating happened the next day at school.
At the school gate, a stretch rcedes just parked.
After the Pond Family’s driver opened the door, Charles Pond got out first, then walked to the other side of the car to open the door.
He bent down and helped Alia Willow out of the car.
Alia Willow, with a shy deanor, stepped down under the watchful eyes of everyone, supported by Charles Pond.
Yesterday, Charles Pond had taken Alia Willow, who had twisted her ankle, to the infirmary.
The infirmary couldn’t treat such a serious injury directly, so Charles Pond asked the driver to take Alia Willow to the hospital.
Sitting in the Pond Family’s luxurious rcedes minivan, Alia Willow looked around left and right.
She had never sat in such a fancy car before; montarily, she even forgot about her foot pain.
She suddenly rembered the lessons Sophie Parker had taught her,
“Sister Sophie Parker was right, for a woman, if you don’t get it right at birth, there is still another chance, and that is marriage.”
So, after returning from the hospital, when Charles Pond suggested he would drive her to and from school until she could walk on her own, Alia Willow, uncharacteristically, agreed.
Seeing how close Charles Pond and Alia Willow had beco, the students at the school gate started murmuring among themselves.
They all knew Maria Carter liked Charles Pond and had been pursuing him for a long ti, even thinking the two were a couple.
“Charles Pond!”
Maria Carter stord up.
Seeing her, Charles Pond’s smile vanished.
“Maria Carter, you still have the face to co to school?
You trouble-maker, causing Alia to get hurt, if she wasn’t so kind-hearted and forbade from reporting it to the school, you would have already been heavily penalized.”
“Charles Pond, let it go.
I think, Maria Carter didn’t an it.”
Alia Willow looked understanding.
“Alia, you’re just too kind, unlike so people who are so malicious.”
Charles Pond glared fiercely at Maria Carter, who was so angry she nearly burst out right there.
“I’m a bit hungry.”
Alia Willow spoke softly, she rushed out to class today and hadn’t had ti for breakfast.
She rembered that usually, Maria Carter would bring breakfast for Charles.
Hearing this, Charles Pond glanced at Maria Carter.
“Maria Carter, I’m hungry, go buy the usual breakfast from that tea restaurant, bring two portions.”
Charles Pond’s attitude towards Maria Carter was very harsh.
“Charles Pond, don’t be too much, Maria Carter isn’t your servant!”
Maria Carter’s few girlfriends, unable to watch anymore, cursed, this Charles Pond was really too much.
“If it weren’t for Maria Carter, how would Alia have hurt her foot.
Maria Carter, go buy breakfast for Alia imdiately, you’re covering both hers and mine for this month.”
Charles Pond spoke arrogantly.
Maria Carter nearly clenched her teeth to pieces.
She glanced at Charles Pond and the fragile-looking Alia Willow behind him, suddenly getting an idea.
“Fine, I’ll go.”
Seeing Maria Carter unexpectedly so obedient, Charles Pond nodded in satisfaction.
He then supported Alia Willow as they walked toward the classroom…
Emily Parker and Abigail Long had started early this morning.
The notice for the free clinic had been sent out long ago.
But it was nearly nine o’clock and no patients had shown up yet.
The bla could only fall on the little clinic for being so unpopular; the local residents would only co to buy so fever dicine if they had a headache or fever.
Abigail Long then proposed, why not set up the free clinic booth at the gate of City First Middle School.
At least when school lets out at noon, there are lots of people at the gate of City First Middle School, and so parents might co, perhaps they might encounter a few patients.
