47: Chapter 47: The Downfall of Looking Down on Others 47: Chapter 47: The Downfall of Looking Down on Others The next morning, Mrs.

Carter had her driver take her to the People’s Hospital.

She had given Emily Parker a call in advance, and upon knowing Mrs.

Carter would be coming, Emily waited for her at the entrance of the People’s Hospital.

When Emily arrived at the entrance, she saw Mrs.

Carter standing there alone, without any bodyguards accompanying her.

Today, she had her hair in a bun and dressed plainly, looking very different from the dignified lady she appeared to be at the Cloud Lake Villa, almost resembling an ordinary patient.

“You ntioned yesterday that you didn’t want others to know about your connection with the Carter Family, fearing it might affect your work.

So, I brought over a new set of clothes from my servant,”

Mrs.

Carter said with a smile, taking Emily’s hand like a mother would with her daughter, and they walked into the hospital.

Last night, during dinner with Emily, she had ntioned that her marriage with Carlos was kept secret; she did not want a wedding banquet.

Mrs.

Carter did not scold her; instead, she appreciated Emily even more.

Mrs.

Carter, born into a distinguished family, was sought after by many who wished to cling to the Carter Family to exploit their connection.

Emily was different; she wanted to distance herself from the Carter Family, which was very similar to her own mother’s attitude.

Mrs.

Parker felt that she had not misjudged Emily, who was a good child.

To help with Mrs.

Carter’s dical check-up, Emily specifically requested a half-day off and even arranged a VIP dical check-up for Mrs.

Carter which would be completed by the morning.

Mrs.

Carter planned to et her father after the check-up and to take Emily to et him as well.

The check-up went smoothly.

By the morning, they had completed blood tests and various other examinations, only the imaging was pending.

It was now noon.

Mrs.

Carter happened to be the last appointnt of the morning.

As they sat outside waiting for her turn, Doctor Bennet ca over with an acquaintance.

“I have an ergency patient here who needs to have their imaging done first; I urgently need it,”

Doctor Bennet said, and without further discussions, handed his patient’s information to the nurse at the nurse’s station.

The nurse recognized Doctor Bennet and knew about his influential background.

As for Emily, she was just a nurse in the pharmacy.

The nurse had no choice but to pull out Mrs.

Carter’s information, notifying Emily and her,

“Nurse Parker, the morning slots are all booked; perhaps you could co back in the afternoon.”

It was the hospital’s policy that doctors could schedule ergency patients, so after this patient, Mrs.

Carter would have to wait until the afternoon.

Emily looked at Mrs.

Carter, who was already weak from several blood draws and visibly tired; waiting until the afternoon was not feasible.

“I have a VIP checkup, which gives priority.”

Emily glanced again at the patient brought by Doctor Bennet, who appeared to be in normal condition and not an ergency case.

She continued, “Even if we have to wait until the afternoon, it shouldn’t be us who wait.

They should be the ones to wait.”

Doctor Bennet had already noticed Emily.

Last ti, she had reprimanded him in the corridor, and at that ti he had so apprehension about her, thinking there might be so formidable person supporting her from behind.

Later, he asked his father, who only ntioned that soone from the Carter Clan had requested to look after Emily.

Curiosity got the better of Doctor Bennet, and he eventually contacted Emily’s sister, Sophie Parker.

Upon inquiry, he found out that Emily did not have any powerful backers.

She had risen from a re nurse to a senior nurse, and competed in a beauty ambassador pageant in Capital, all because her boyfriend was the secretary to the General Manager of the Carter Clan Group.

After hearing this, Doctor Bennet was no longer intimidated by Emily.

A secretary to the General Manager of the Carter Clan Group, after all, was just a worker.

Her previous ntor was the personal doctor of Mrs.

Carter.

Thinking of this, Doctor Bennet’s look towards Emily Parker beca even more dismissive,

“VIP check-up, right?

You think just because you spent a few thousand more, you can jump ahead of , the associate chief doctor, to arrange patient appointnts?”

Saying this, Doctor Bennet walked to the nurse station, grabbed Mrs.

Carter’s patient record card, and tore it in half, tossing it in front of Emily Parker and Mrs.

Carter.

“Now you don’t have to wait anymore, go back and redo the check-up.

The tests you did this morning were all for nothing.”

“Who are you to say our check-up was for nothing?”

Mrs.

Carter, standing nearby, saw Doctor Bennet acting so brazenly and her expression turned ugly.

Is the service attitude in public hospitals these days all this poor?

“I am a doctor at People’s Hospital, are you a relative of Emily Parker?

Don’t think just because this little nurse is your relative, you can enjoy special privileges here at People’s Hospital, she doesn’t qualify.”

Doctor Bennet looked at Mrs.

Carter with contempt, sizing her up from head to toe.

This woman had a good appearance, one could tell she must have been beautiful in her youth, what a pity, she looks severely ill now, from head to toe her clothes add up to rely a few hundred yuan.

Such poor patients, Doctor Bennet has seen plenty in the hospital, most don’t live more than a few years, due to not being able to afford treatnt, they just wait at ho to die.

“I want to complain,”

Mrs.

Carter glanced at the na tag in front of Doctor Bennet, she had good manners, unwilling to curse.

“If you want to complain, go ahead.”

Doctor Bennet was not afraid of Mrs.

Carter’s complaints at all, she is high-end talent, studied abroad at a renowned dical school, her master’s supervisor is also a well-known dostic dical expert, and her father is the vice president of People’s Hospital.

Ordinary patient complaints, she is not afraid at all, nobody dares to take it seriously.

Saying this, Doctor Bennet walked away arrogantly, not even glancing at Emily Parker and Mrs.

Carter, and took her own patient to get an X-ray.

Seeing the scene, Emily Parker found an excuse to tell Mrs.

Carter that she needed to use the restroom.

Emily Parker brought Mrs.

Carter to the hospital today mainly for blood tests, the other procedures were just formalities, but she hadn’t expected Doctor Bennet to appear and bully them, Emily Parker couldn’t stand it anymore.

When Emily Parker left, Mrs.

Carter also took out her phone.

At that mont, Doctor Bennet and her patient ca out after the X-ray, seeing Mrs.

Carter browsing her contact list, she sneered,

“What, haven’t found anyone to handle your complaint?

I won’t leave—I want to see if anyone will take care of your complaint.”

Mrs.

Carter found a number and dialed,

She only said one sentence,

“I’m outside the X-ray room, co here imdiately.”

Doctor Bennet, looking amused, couldn’t help laughing when she heard Mrs.

Carter’s tone and expression.

“You act like so big-shot boss from who knows where, but look at yourself, at best you’re just a housewife from the vegetable market.”

Doctor Bennet indeed wanted to see, this housewife, who she would call over here, her husband, or her son, or waiting for Emily Parker to bring help.

Not long after Doctor Bennet finished speaking, she heard a burst of hurried footsteps coming from outside.

Soone is actually coming?

Doctor Bennet curiously looked over.
