With Celeste and Julian always by her side, Mrs. Carter’s inner unease was significantly cald by the presence of the two children.
However, the originally peaceful atmosphere was abruptly shattered by a phone call at noon.
As soon as Mrs. Carter answered the call, her face suddenly turned grim.
"Mom, what’s wrong?" Maria was the first to notice sothing was amiss. Seeing her mother’s pale face, she quickly moved closer, anxiously asking, "Did sothing happen with my brother?"
Mrs. Carter shook her head, her tone calm yet unable to hide her fatigue: "We can’t reach your brother at the mont. But don’t worry, I think he should be safe.
No matter what, Carlos is the head of the Carter Clan, and even if The Smiths wanted to act, they wouldn’t dare to kill him outright. They still need him for sothing."
Regarding the phone call, Mrs. Carter’s eyes were filled with a suppressed anger: "That call was from the asylum; they don’t want your grandfather to stay there any longer and have thrown him out!
Since the Carter Clan got into trouble, I’ve been trying my best to keep it from the Old Master because I’m afraid he can’t handle the shock.
But I didn’t expect The Smiths to be so ruthless, not even sparing the uninvolved Old Master Carter.
What was worse, they even threw out the paralyzed Old Lady Carter at the sa ti.
Two elderly individuals nearing seventy, one frail and the other unable to move on her own, how could they endure such turmoil?
Hearing this, Maria felt a chill run down her spine, and the room’s atmosphere imdiately beca heavy.
Mrs. Carter clenched her fists, her eyes full of helplessness: "But now the Carter Family is in such chaos, I can’t find a suitable place to settle the elders anyti soon..."
"Don’t worry, I’ve already asked Evelyn Hanson to arrange it. She’s in the process of bringing over your grandparents."
Emily ca over with a fruit platter.
"Won’t it implicate her?" Mrs. Carter asked, both excited and guilty upon hearing this.
"Given Charles Smith’s ticulous nature, even if it weren’t for the two elders, he would sooner or later target the Eastern Hospital."
Emily put down the fruit platter, not hiding the fact that she had already told Evelyn Hanson everything about her entanglents with The Smiths.
After hearing it all, Evelyn Hanson had angrily cursed The Smiths and Charles without any hesitation, imdiately siding with her good friend.
As Emily spoke, she glanced back at the two children watching cartoons nearby and softly said, "Celeste, you and your brother go play in the room."
Once Celeste and Julian obediently returned to the room, Emily sat back next to Mrs. Carter and Maria, her expression serious.
"I may need to go out for a while. During the ti I’m away, Faye Manor will be responsible for your safety. Whatever you do, don’t leave."
"Where are you going? Don’t be impulsive!"
Mrs. Carter and Maria spoke in unison, urgently grabbing her.
Mrs. Carter even tightened her grip on her wrist: "Emily, you can’t go out, it’s too dangerous outside. The Smiths are capable of anything!"
Maria also nodded, her eyes full of anxiety.
"I need to find soone to help with sothing.
This is what Carlos sent over before he was taken."
Emily sighed.
She only found out about it from her son after returning to the apartnt.
It was then she realized that little Aaron had been secretly using her identity to stay in touch with Carlos.
Actually, Carlos had foreseen trouble for himself and had prepared everything in advance, instructing her to contact Oliver Ross imdiately.
Emily had been delayed by matters at the villa and couldn’t leave right away.
After much persuasion, Emily finally convinced Mrs. Carter and Maria, and got up to leave the apartnt.
When Faye Manor heard she was going to leave alone, they strongly opposed it, not allowing any dispute: "No, it’s too dangerous. I must send soone to follow and protect you!"
Emily simply smiled, "Don’t worry, The Smiths can’t catch ."
"Sister-in-law, don’t underestimate Charles and his people! When we confronted them at Cloud Lake Villa before, I found out their skills were extraordinary and not sothing ordinary people can handle!"
Faye Manor’s expression was solemn,
"Master Carter specifically instructed to protect you and the children well. I cannot let you co to any harm!"
Knowing she couldn’t out-argue them, Emily stopped persuading and just nodded, "Since you insist on following, let your people follow first."
With that, she imdiately hopped onto a motorbike, her fingers gripping the handles. Without another word, she pressed the gas pedal.
The engine roared to life, and the next second, the motorbike shot out like an arrow from a bow, leaving only a blur behind.
