Carlos strode ahead.

Emily’s face was a picture of shock.
Could they have found out about her secret marriage with Carlos?
The only person who knew about Emily’s marriage was Evelyn Hanson, and knowing Mrs.
Parker’s profit-seeking nature, if she found out about the marriage, she would demand a huge dowry from the Carter Family.
She intended to save the dowry for the child, irrelevant to the Parker Family.
Carlos, walking ahead, realized after a while that Emily was nowhere to be seen when he looked back.
“Won are such a hassle, always dragging their feet.”
With a devil-may-care look, Carlos stood with his hands pocketed, waiting for Emily to catch up.
Cloud Lake Villa was expansive, and Emily hadn’t visited many tis; she might wander till nightfall alone.
Carlos took out his phone and sent a ssage to Old Carter.

“Who are they?”
“Mrs.
Parker is my adoptive mother, and Sophie Parker is my paternal half-sister.
Originally, she was the one supposed to have a blind date with you, but she fell ill, so they sent instead.”
Carlos sowhat rembered the na Sophie Parker.
He recalled the arrogant woman he saw in the surveillance footage at Moonlight Departnt Store last night; that was Sophie Parker.

And she stole Emily Parker’s love?
Isn’t this just so lodramatic novel plot?
Carlos glanced at Emily.
Is that Adam Willow really that great?
He’s already treated her so poorly, yet she can’t stop thinking about him.
“What are you staring at for?”
In Carlos’s view, Emily and Sophie Parker aren’t even on the sa level.
Only a blind man like Adam Willow would choose Sophie over Emily.
“If you don’t want to see them, I could have them kicked out.”
Carlos thought about the several large dogs kept at Cloud Lake Villa.

The shuttle bus has already arrived.
Carlos and Emily both got on the shuttle bus.

After entering, just the shuttle ride took more than half an hour before they could see the main building of the villa.

Mrs.
Parker was completely dismissive.
Sophie felt sowhat relieved.
Her phone vibrated; Emily received a text ssage from a male volunteer she knew at People’s Hospital.
