The sll of disinfectant perates the corridors of Eastern Hospital.

The red light outside the operating room has long since extinguished, with several nurses hurriedly pushing dical equipnt in and out.

"Where is the pregnant woman who had an early birth?"

A female doctor in a white coat and a blue mask stopped a passing nurse, her voice tranquil and without a ripple.

The nurse didn’t halt her steps, casually replied, "The one just brought in? She’s in room 301."

The female doctor nodded, turned, and walked toward room 301. The door to the ward was ajar. She gently pushed it open; it was quiet inside.

By the window on the hospital bed, Emily lay there, breathing evenly, as if exhausted and asleep from childbirth.

A swift cold flash appeared in the female doctor’s eyes. She slowly turned around, staring fixedly at the cradle beside the bedside cabinet.

Her steps beca lighter, approaching step by step.

"Without this child, let’s see how you’ll handle Carlos."

Malicious words seeped out of the female doctor’s mouth in a low tone. Her hand, hidden in the pocket of the white coat, suddenly drew out, and a pitch-black handgun was firmly gripped within her palm, the muzzle steadily aid at the cradle.

But just as she reached the bedside, her movents abruptly halted, her eyes filled with astonishnt.

The cradle was empty; not to ntion a baby, even the shadow of a swaddle was absent.

"How is this possible?"

The woman felt sothing amiss; just about to turn around, a sudden cold sensation brushed against the back of her head, like the touch of a frozen tal piece.

It was a knife.

"What should I call you? D, or..."

A cool voice from behind spoke from Emily, followed by a sharp scalpel lightly grazing the female doctor’s ear.

The string tying her mask was severed, and the mask fell to the ground with a "clack," revealing a young face identical to Rainny White’s.

Except this face had no trace of timidity, only a fierce chill.

A fleeting surprise crossed the face of the woman called D, quickly reverting to calmness, her side glance sweeping over Emily sitting up in bed, her gaze falling on the still protruding belly.

Her pupils shrank: "You faked it? You used the premature birth to lure out?"

The recent attempts by several waves of assassins sent to kill Emily had vanished without a trace; she thought Emily was a parasitic vine needing Carlos. Unexpectedly, she hid so well.

She initially thought this premature birth was an opportunity to eliminate the root, but instead fell into the other’s trap.

Emily’s hand holding the scalpel was steady as a rock, her voice carrying chilled calmness suppressed for long: "I don’t know what your relationship with Carlos is.

I’m not interested.

But you should never have targeted and my child."

The several assassination attempts made her intolerant, preferring to lure the snake out of its hole rather than passively evade.

D sneered: "Just with a scalpel?"

Before finishing her words, a soft "whizz" sounded, a lock of hair near her ear floated to the ground, as the tip of the scalpel nearly grazed her ear.

At that mont, the door opened with a "click," and Evelyn Hanson walked in carrying warm water. Upon seeing the scene in the room, Emily holding a scalpel against the back of "Rainny White’s" head while the latter held a gun, Evelyn scread in fright, "Ah!"

This scream disrupted their confrontation.

D reacted quickly, ducking down and turning the gun, while Emily almost simultaneously moved, flipping her wrist, thrusting the scalpel towards D’s throat.

The room plunged into chaos instantly.

D’s gun continually searched for a shooting opportunity, yet was tightly suppressed by Emily’s hand with the scalpel, which, despite seeming small, struck with swift deadly edge with each swing.

D attempted to pull the trigger multiple tis, yet was forced to fend off relentlessly by the blade.

"Screech—"

D’s hand was split open by a blood groove, the severe pain causing her fingers to slacken, the handgun clanged to the ground.

D’s face underwent a drastic change, eyes full of disbelief.

She was Prisnet’s top assassin, never imagining herself to be cornered by a "pregnant woman," the opponent’s skills were superior to hers!

"Help! There’s an assassin!" Evelyn finally regained her composure, yelling.

Rapid footsteps echoed down the hallway, with Mrs. Carter and Maria Carter arriving first.

Seeing the chaos inside the room, their faces turned pale. Faye Manor quickly stopped them, "Aunt, Maria, it’s dangerous here!"

Yet Carlos hesitated not a mont, pushing past everyone and rushing into the room.

The sight made his heart stop—Emily’s hair was disheveled, sweat seeping on her brow, her hand holding the knife trembled slightly, yet she persistently glared at D.

And the woman resembling Rainny White, blood dripping from her hand, glared venomously at Emily, both panting heavily, the air thick with tense hostility.

"Emily!" Carlos’s voice carried an imperceptible tremor, his gaze fixed on her, confirming she was unhurt before turning to D, eyes ice-cold as though about to freeze, "You promised not to touch her.

D sneered, suddenly lunging towards the window, intending to break it and escape.

Emily swiftly reacted, throwing the scalpel, its blade brushing past D’s arm, embedding itself deeply in the window fra.

Almost simultaneously, Carlos rushed over, grabbing D’s rear collar, and slamd her fiercely onto the ground.

"Brother, why is she here? Quickly, call the police!" Maria’s voice carried a cry, pointing at D pinned to the ground, trembling all over.

The gun previously dropped to the ground still glead coldly, making her heart uneasy.
