Chapter 339: Chapter 331: Chief Officer

Alia Willow’s crisp and loud call of “sister-in-law” instantly plunged the entire police station into a bizarre silence.

Deputy Director Pond and a group of officers exchanged glances, their faces filled with disbelief. Sophie Parker had not expected to encounter Alia here, and she hadn’t had ti to inform the Willow Family about her falling out with Adam Willow.

“Alia, what are you doing here?”

Sophie forced a smile, her face looking particularly stiff.

Alia, however, was oblivious, affectionately linking her arm with Sophie’s. “Sister Sophie Parker, I heard you work at an important governnt departnt, is this your superior, Secretary-General Sutton?”

She curiously examined Charles Smith. The inscrutable gaze behind his golden-rimd glasses reminded her of her brother, Adam Willow, but with a more imposing aura.

Mr. and Mrs. Pond imdiately plastered their faces with smiles.

Mr. Pond quickly stepped forward. “Oh, so Alia and this lady are relatives? This is really…”

“Exactly!” Alia proudly lifted her chin. “My sister-in-law must have co because she knew I was being bullied.”

She turned towards Sophie, pointing at Emily Parker.

Sophie looked in the direction Alia pointed, and her gaze suddenly froze. Emily sat quietly in a corner, her pregnant belly conspicuous under her white coat.

The instant their eyes t, a trace of resentnt flickered across Sophie’s delicate face.

Bitterness welled up in Sophie’s heart.

“We both married Carlos…”

She silently thought to herself, as her gaze fell on Emily’s bulging abdon.

That man was always polite and distant to her, never once stepping into the hospital room even when she attempted suicide and was hospitalized.

Yet for Emily, he could shower all his tenderness, even entrusting the future of the Carter Clan Group to her.

Even more ironic was Adam Willow.

The man who pampered Emily in dreams turned out to be the richest man, but in reality, after being with Adam, he beca a prisoner.

She still rembered the way Adam looked at her when he was arrested, as if he were looking at a stranger.

The two n who held extraordinary significance in her life, without exception, gave all their affection to that slut, Emily!

Thinking of this, the jealousy and hatred in Sophie’s heart deepened. She was determined to help Alia today, if only to spite Emily.

Sophie deliberately raised her voice and asked, “Alia, isn’t it Emily who bullied you?”

Her gaze fleetingly swept over Emily’s bulging belly, a hint of calculation in her eyes.

If the Chief Officer was indeed at the police station and learned of Emily bullying students, the Carters would certainly be in trouble.

With Sophie backing her, Alia confidently straightened up, pointing at Emily. “It’s her! And there was an old rogue! He even hit Charles Pond.”

“Don’t worry,” Sophie affectionately linked her arm with Alia’s, “with the Secretary-General here, no one can bully you.”

She turned to Charles, softening her voice intentionally. “Secretary-General, this is Adam Willow’s sister.”

Charles Smith’s gaze behind his slender lenses shifted back and forth between Emily and Alia.

He recalled when Adam Willow sought him out after his arrest, promising that as long as his family wasn’t implicated, he wouldn’t expose him. Since Alia is Adam’s sister, giving her so assistance wouldn’t be a problem.

Deputy Director Pond keenly caught Charles’s gaze and imdiately ingratiated himself, stepping forward. “Rest assured, Secretary-General! We have thoroughly investigated; this is an extrely heinous case!”

He puffed his beer belly, “An old rogue, along with a gang of thugs, bullied students from a top high school! We will definitely punish them severely!”

Saying this, he glanced aningfully at Emily, “None of the involved can escape today!”

“Deputy Director Pond!” Cedric Shaw’s loud voice suddenly sounded from the doorway.

He walked in briskly, shielding Emily?

The atmosphere inside the police station instantly beca tense.

Deputy Director Pond, with his beer belly, had a disdainful sneer on his face. To him, with the Secretary-General backing him, a re lawyer was nothing to fear.

“I want to bail out my client.”

Cedric’s calm voice resonated within the police station.

He nodded slightly at Emily with so apology, having just gone to gather evidence.

With his slender fingers, he withdrew the prepared bail docunts from his briefcase, executing the action cleanly and neatly.

“No bail!”

Deputy Director Pond’s jowls shook with agitation, “This case is heinous, a typical violent injury case!”

He deliberately raised his volu, hoping Charles would hear his “impartial enforcent of the law.”

Cedric remained unmoved, his piercing gaze fixed on Deputy Director Pond. “Deputy Director, you are mistaken. This is rely a disturbance case.”

He paused, his voice more resolute, “Besides Mrs. Parker, Uncle Mason and the other parties involved, I want to bail them out as well.”

“Impudent!”

Deputy Director Pond roared, his thick palm slamming heavily on the table, “None shall be bailed out!”

He turned and shouted to the officers behind him, “Handcuff all of them!”

A young female officer hesitantly walked towards Emily, the handcuffs in her hand gleaming coldly under the light. Just as she was about to touch Emily’s wrist—

“Who dares to handcuff her!”

A low, authoritative voice suddenly ca from the corner, like a thunderous explosion.

It wasn’t loud, yet it silenced the entire station instantly.

Charles Pond, sitting beside, clutched the lifeline as if finding hope, excitedly pointing to the corner. “Secretary-General! It’s him! That old rogue! He’s the one who attacked people! He even broke my leg.”

His face twisted with excitent, completely oblivious to Charles Smith’s slightly unusual gaze.

Charles turned to look, due to the angle, he could only see a blurred back.

But the upright silhouette struck him intensely, giving him a bad premonition.

Charles was about to inquire about the person’s identity when—

A figure rushed past him in haste.

It was Deputy Director Pond, eager to assert himself, already grabbing a handcuff and charging forward. “You darn old rogue! Daring to act tough at the police station!”

His bulky body moved like a small mountain towards the corner.

Charles accelerated his pace, and when he recognized the figure, his pupils contracted sharply—

“Chief Officer!”

Charles’s exclamation was like a lightning bolt.

Emily too wore a face of astonishnt, looking at Uncle Mason.

The handcuff from Deputy Director Pond clattered onto the ground, making a piercing sound in the dead-silent police station.

All eyes were locked on the corner.

The middle-aged elder, who had been facing away from everyone, slowly turned around, his authoritative face appearing particularly austere under the light.

He wore plain workwear, his temples slightly frosted, appearing like any middle-aged man seen on the street. Yet, as he stood, a noble authority beca unmistakably apparent.
