Chapter 291: Chapter 284

By the ti Emily Parker finished reading the docunt, it was already 12 noon.

She stretched lazily, and Carlos pushed open the door and walked in, his suit jacket draped over his arm, the collar of his shirt slightly open.

“You’ve been working the whole morning. Let’s go out for lunch.”

For Emily Parker, he had to stay at the company and accompany her in handling a pile of docunts.

Emily Parker smiled slightly,

“Let’s eat near City First Middle School. I want to visit the clinic in the afternoon.”

She didn’t enjoy staying in a clean and bright office. In comparison, she preferred the scent of herbs and disinfectant in the clinic.

The clinic had been reorganized and was ready to reopen.

The couple walked out of the office together. Just as they reached the elevator, the doors opened with a “ding.”

Adam Willow and Sophie Parker were standing inside the elevator, along with several employees of the Carter Clan.

Emily Parker and Carlos stepped in, and Emily casually said,

“Assistant Adam, I won’t be in the office this afternoon. If there are any docunts to sign, leave them on my desk, and I’ll deal with them tomorrow.”

Sophie Parker, hearing this, deliberately raised her voice and said,

“Emily Parker, the company is so busy lately, and you still want to slack off? Brother Adam has been working overti these days.

What kind of general manager are you?

How can other employees work well if you’re like this?”

After she finished speaking, the other employees in the elevator began whispering among themselves, casting looks of discontent at Emily.

Carlos let out a mocking laugh, his tone laced with sarcasm,

“Sophie, you’re rely a deputy leader of the inspection team sent by the governnt. It’s not your place to tell a general manager how to work!”

His voice wasn’t loud, yet it resonated clearly in the elevator, and Sophie’s face instantly turned an ashen color.

She glared at Carlos, a flash of anger in her eyes.

She gritted her teeth, her tone still strong,

“I’m here to supervise the work. If soone is not working properly and affecting the project’s progress, of course, I have to mind it!”

Her voice was sharp, as if trying to overpower the others with sheer montum.

Emily Parker smiled slightly. Sophie’s anger didn’t affect her at all.

“My work is already completed, so there’s no need for overti.

As for needing to work late, that’s due to inefficiency.

The Carter Clan employs a flexible working system: as long as the work is done, you can leave.

Deputy Leader Sophie, you should understand the Carter Clan’s rules before criticizing people.”

Her voice was crisp and powerful, each word seeming to smack down Sophie’s presumption.

As Emily spoke, the elevator doors opened with a “ding.” She offered a small smile and walked out, ignoring Sophie.

The elevator doors closed slowly, and Sophie’s face looked even worse. She was so angry her face turned red. She stomped her foot furiously, indignantly saying,

“Unbelievable, she’s still being so unreasonable!

She’s just a college graduate. How could her work efficiency be so high?

Those docunts are so complicated. How could she and Carlos possibly handle them all?

She’s definitely lying!

You all heard it. I’m going to check Emily Parker’s work progress right now. If she’s lying again, our inspection team won’t let her go!”

Sophie said this while pressing the elevator button forcefully, and soon the doors opened with another “ding.”

Sophie led a few mbers of the inspection team in a hurry into Emily Parker’s office.

Indeed, the desk was piled with docunts, neatly arranged in file folders, orderly and tidy.

Sophie picked up a few docunts, quickly flipping through them, her actions sowhat eager, as if she wanted to imdiately catch Emily’s mistake.

Adam Willow stood by, with a hint of helplessness on his face. He sighed and picked up a docunt to glance at it.

At this glance, his expression slightly changed, a trace of surprise flickering in his eyes.

He handed the docunt to an employee beside him, who was from the audit departnt, as there were many data points on this docunt that needed reviewing.

The audit employee took the docunt and checked it carefully. After a while, he looked up, an astonished expression on his face, speaking with a hint of disbelief,

“These data are all correct, and the general manager’s inputs are very accurate.”

Sophie was stunned at this, not daring to believe her eyes as she looked at the heap of docunts on the desk.

These docunts were processed by Emily Parker and Carlos in half a day, while Adam Willow needed a week to finish them, even with the help of many experienced employees.

She picked up another docunt and scrutinized it, only to find that every docunt was handled without a single error.

Sophie’s face beca increasingly sour, her eyes carrying a trace of panic, as if not believing what was before her.

Adam Willow, holding the docunt in his hand, showed a rare look of discomposure on his usually refined face.

He had originally thought Emily was just muddling through work, but the facts at hand slapped him hard in the face.

Adam Willow certainly didn’t believe that all this was completed by Emily or Carlos with their own abilities.

In his mind, he was certain there was a highly efficient team working behind them, secretly supported by Mrs. Carter.

After all, the foundation of the Carter Clan was deep, and Mrs. Carter operated with exceptional skills behind the scenes, a fact Adam Willow was well aware of.

He stood in front of the desk, his gaze sweeping across those docunts, knowing that relying solely on himself and his father to overthrow Mrs. Carter wouldn’t be easy. He needed stronger external support.

Adam Willow raised his head, a determined look flashing in his eyes.

He must quickly reach out to Blackstone Capital. With its vast influence in the financial world, if they could support him, there was still a chance to seize control of the Carter Clan.

His gaze beca firm, a cold smile slightly curving at his lips…

Carlos drove the car and arrived at City First Middle School close to twelve-thirty.

The small shops lining the street had begun to bustle, and the air was filled with various cooking aromas.

The pair walked into a nearby small restaurant.

As soon as they entered, Emily Parker’s gaze fell on a table in the corner, where a few familiar people were sitting.

Alia Willow was wearing a light blue dress, her long hair cascading over her shoulders, smiling brightly, with Charles Pond sitting beside her.

They were having a al with a few classmates from City First Middle School. The table was filled with various dishes, and the atmosphere was lively with cheerful chatter.

Emily Parker paused for a mont, a hint of surprise flashing in her eyes.

Since the art performance, Charles Pond and Alia Willow had transferred, and she hadn’t seen them for a long ti since.

She turned to another empty table, Carlos following behind her.

The couple chose a spot by the window to sit, and Charles and Alia’s gaze turned to them, with Alia standing up and walking over.
