A few days later, Emily Parker’s work at the Carter Clan was going smoothly.
On the day of the inauguration ceremony, Carlos changed into a custom-made light gray suit, the sharp cut perfectly outlining his tall and upright figure. The silver tie at the collar fluttered slightly, making him look especially spirited.
Just as he was about to ask Emily about her preparations,
Maria Carter suddenly jumped out, blocking his path. She clasped her hands together, her eyes blinking as she looked at Carlos pleadingly,
"Bro, I heard you and sister-in-law are going to the First Magistrate’s inauguration ceremony today?
Could you take a few photos of the First Magistrate for ? They say he’s more handso than movie stars in real life.

Carlos frowned slightly and firmly refused,
"Our First Magistrate values privacy and doesn’t like his photos being publicly shared."
"Bro, how could you be so heartless?
I’ve helped you out big ti before." Maria pouted angrily, her cheeks puffing slightly like a wronged little pufferfish, her eyes full of discontent.
"How did you help ?"
Carlos looked at his sister bewilderedly, a hint of inquiry in his eyes.
Maria’s face stiffened, realizing she almost blurted out about the sister-in-law’s plan to divorce her brother, and he’s still in the dark about it.
She pondered how to cover up the slip, her eyes dodging, trying to conceal her nervousness.
At this mont, the door of the opposite room slowly opened with a slight creak.
Emily erged from the wardrobe, instantly catching Maria’s attention.
Maria’s small mouth dropped open wide, her eyes rounded in shock as she stared at her sister-in-law, as if witnessing an incredible miracle.
Carlos also turned to look; at this mont, he couldn’t help but be taken aback, his gaze full of astonishnt.
Emily rarely dressed so formally; perhaps due to her regard for the ceremony or maybe wanting to represent the Carter Clan in the best possible way, she had prepared ticulously today.
Being pregnant, she wore a subtle layer of makeup, making her delicate features even more harmonious under its highlight.
Her skin appeared more translucent, like fine white porcelain, smooth and radiant. Her rosy lips were perfectly contrasted, akin to ripe cherries, adding vibrancy to her face.
Her long hair was elegantly pinned up, revealing her slender swan neck, its lines graceful and long, akin to a refined art piece. Both her neck and ears adorned with exquisite pearl accessories, whose sheen complented her skin, making her appear gentler and more alluring.
The most striking of all was the light purple rmaid gown she wore, the hem subtly fanning out and swaying with her steps like a blooming violet.
The gown’s color accentuated her elegant deanor, and its cut cleverly concealed her pregnant waist and abdon.
She also draped a purple shawl over her shoulders, intricately embroidered and glowing softly under the light, enhancing her presence to that of an orchid in a secluded valley, exuding elegance and sophistication.
Carlos’s gaze lingered on Emily, montarily stunned.
He had never seen Emily so radiant, as if she exuded a unique glow, making it impossible for him to look away.
anwhile, Maria stood by, dumbfounded, marveling at how her usually modest sister-in-law looked stunningly breathtaking with makeup.
"Sister-in-law, you are definitely the most beautiful here today."
Seeing her brother’s attention shift from herself to her sister-in-law, Maria breathed a sigh of relief and started flattering promptly.
Emily smiled gently, casting a doting look at Maria and teasing lightly,
"How can you still have the mind to wander here?
Have you finished those makeup assignnts?"
Maria jumped in surprise, her body stiffening slightly, quickly waving with her hand before dashing back to her room, muttering,
"Ah, I’m going now!"
Back in her room, Maria ca to her senses; she sat at her desk, holding her chin with both hands, murmuring,
"It’s strange, how did sister-in-law know I still have makeup assignnts undone?"
Her voice carried a hint of confusion; she then shook her head and sighed, deciding to finish her assignnts first, lest she gets caught by her sister-in-law again.
As Emily and Carlos walked out, the chauffeur had already been waiting.
Carlos gently supported Emily’s arm, helping her sit securely into the car.
The car drove out of the manor slowly, when Evan Palr erged from the estate, dressed in a ceremonial black suit, with an exquisite diamond tie clip at the collar, looking exceptionally solemn.
His gaze held a hint of gloominess, his lips slightly curled into a cold smile.
He watched the car becoming a re speck in the distance, turned to a nearby parked vehicle, opened the door, and quickly got in.
He started the car, its engine emitted a deep hum, then tailed closely behind Carlos and Emily’s car, exiting the manor.
The Carter Family’s car smoothly arrived at the entrance of the Magistrate’s Manor, the gate towering and majestic, the square in front already packed with a variety of luxury cars.
A large number of security personnel were busy at the entrance, dressed in uniform, eyes vigilant, holding security equipnt, conducting strict safety checks on every vehicle and guest entering.
The chauffeur opened the car door, and Carlos was the first to step out.
Emily followed him down gracefully, her light purple rmaid gown shimring gently in the sunlight, the hem fluttering like a flowing purple cloud.
