Chapter 270: Chapter 264
In the room, the warm yellow light shone on the two people.
Carlos stood there, a slight look of surprise on his face. Clearly, he hadn’t expected Emily Parker to give him sothing at this mont.
He raised an eyebrow slightly, thinking quietly if this was so kind of hint from Emily; he knew that Emily liked him.
Was this the first gift Emily had given him?
Carlos’ lips unknowingly curled into a faint smile, and a trace of anticipation surged in his heart.
He walked steadily, slowly moving to the dressing table. His slender fingers lightly touched the drawer handle, and with a slight force, the drawer was opened.
Emily lowered her eyes, her long eyelashes casting a shadow on her eyelids. She clenched her hands. Her knuckles turned slightly white due to the force, her heart beating nervously as she quietly awaited Carlos’ reaction.
She thought that when Carlos saw the divorce agreent, he should be very happy. This way, there would no longer be any obstacles between him and Rainny White.
However, as ti passed second by second, the room was so quiet that only the faint sound of their breathing could be heard. Carlos remained silent.
Emily felt a vague sense that sothing was off. She couldn’t help but look up, only to see Carlos holding a piece of paper, his brows furrowed, a serious expression on his face, and emotions unclear in his deep eyes.
“What do you an by this?”
Carlos’ voice was calm and smooth without a hint of fluctuation.
“It’s the literal aning.”
Emily tried her best to keep her voice calm, straightening her back slightly to make herself appear more composed.
She felt that the divorce agreent was written clearly enough.
The agreent specified that after their divorce, the child would be raised by her, and Carlos would have the right to visit at any ti. If Carlos remarried in the future, he could still visit the child once a week.
As for the couple’s joint property, Emily was willing to leave all the assets she inherited from Mrs. Carter and Old Master Carter to their child without any reservation.
Carlos weighed the papers in his hand, his eyes scanning them repeatedly, as if searching for sothing.
His fingers gently caressed the paper.
Ti seed to freeze at this mont. After several minutes, he finally spoke slowly, “I agree.”
As he said this, he picked up the pen and signed his na on the agreent.
His movents were neither rushed nor slow, the pen tip sliding over the paper, making a faint rustling sound.
Even though this divorce agreent was personally drafted by Emily, her heart sank sharply the mont she saw Carlos sign it, as if a heavy stone was pressing on her chest, making it difficult to breathe.
A trace of disappointnt flashed in her eyes, and the complex emotion seed to be stuck in her throat, unable to be expressed or swallowed.
She bit her lower lip slightly, trying not to let her emotions show, but her eyes were already slightly red.
Carlos put down the pen, the corners of his mouth slightly raised,
“It’s signed, are you satisfied now?”
He raised an eyebrow, his eyes carrying a bit of probing, seemingly waiting for Emily’s answer.
“Tomorrow, the agreent takes effect.”
Emily forced a smile, the curve of her lips sowhat stiff.
She lowered her head slightly, a hint of dimness in her eyes.
“Doesn’t have to wait until tomorrow? It can be tonight.”
Carlos’ voice was low and calm. As he spoke, he reached out to untie his tie.
The tie slipped lightly through his long fingers, the collar slightly open, revealing a bit of collarbone, appearing casual and lazy.
Emily gave a bitter smile, almost forgetting that Carlos had connections. Last ti when they got married, they didn’t go to the civil affairs bureau, yet the certificate was issued. It seed the sa for the divorce certificate.
“Then tonight, you sleep in the guest room…” Emily’s voice trembled a bit, not finished speaking, Carlos had already approached her with steady steps.
He slightly smiled, and with an embrace, Emily was firmly held in his arms. Her body instantly lost balance, and she could only cling tightly to his arm.
Carlos’ actions were crisp and efficient, taking Emily straight toward the bathroom.
Emily was startled, her face turning red instantly. She struggled to break free from Carlos’ embrace, slapping his shoulders a few tis, her voice sowhat flustered,
“Carlos, what are you doing? Put down, the two of us…”
“Special service, isn’t this what you wanted?
The agreent says to be passionate and thorough in service,
and available 24 hours, at any ti.”
Carlos’ voice was low and teasing, a faint smile on his lips, and his eyes full of mockery.
As he spoke, he carried Emily to the edge of the bathtub, reaching out to turn on the hot water, the sound of water whooshing, warm steam spreading in the bathroom.
“What nonsense are you spouting?”
Emily’s face was already red, watching Carlos’ hand reaching over, she was so scared that she quickly grabbed her clothes, her body shrinking back.
“Isn’t that what the agreent says?
You’ve signed your na, why pretend?”
Carlos slightly raised his eyebrow, a hint of slyness flashing in his eyes. He clicked his tongue twice, his tone carrying a trace of teasing.
“I did sign, but on that agreent…”
Emily’s face was red, her voice gradually lowering, not daring to look into Carlos’ eyes, feeling utterly embarrassed.
Ignoring Carlos’ surprised gaze, she hurriedly escaped from the bathroom, rushing to the dressing table.
She hastily grabbed the “divorce agreent” on the table, her fingers trembling as she opened it to look.
Upon inspection, Emily was utterly dismayed.
Her eyes widened, her expression shifting from shock to disbelief. Her fingers tightly gripped the agreent, creases forming in the paper.
“Maintenance agreent…”
Emily’s voice cut off, her eyes wide open, staring intensely at the black and white words before her.
The few pages of paper Carlos retrieved from the drawer were not the divorce agreent she had previously drafted but a “maintenance agreent” she had never seen before.
The terms were clearly written; if Carlos signed the agreent, he could receive a monthly fee of one hundred thousand.
If Carlos did not sign, he would not only lose custody of the child, but the inheritance of the Carter Clan Group would have nothing to do with him.
At the bottom of the agreent, Emily and Carlos’ signatures were prominently displayed.
There was no problem with the signature; it was indeed her handwriting.
Emily suddenly rembered sothing. Yesterday, Mrs. Carter brought a few docunts, saying they were about the child’s future inheritance rights.
Emily wasn’t interested in the Carter Clan’s inheritance, so when Mrs. Carter said there was nothing wrong with the docunts, she signed them as the child’s legal guardian.
It seed that among those docunts, this agreent had been slipped in. She had signed the relevant docunts confusedly!
