Chapter 258: Chapter 253

Inside the police station, Rainny White hung up the phone, a hint of smugness still on her face.

“Emily Parker, I thought your place in Brother Carter’s heart was irreplaceable, but it seems that’s not the case.”

Rainny White thought to herself, thinking about how Brother Carter had gone to confront Doctor Bennet on her behalf, and when he was brought to the police station, the first person he contacted was her, not Emily Parker, causing a smug satisfaction to well up inside her.

If it weren’t for the large bail money needed to release Brother Carter, she would never have contacted Emily Parker.

She adjusted her makeup, a hint of urgency in her eyes, and asked the nearby police officer,

“I’ve made the contacts, and soone will bring the money soon. Can I see Brother Carter first?”

Her voice carried a hint of flattery, and the young officer receiving her nodded and led Rainny White to the detention room.

“Brother Carter?”

As soon as Rainny White walked into the detention room, she saw Carlos sitting there.

The room was dimly lit, and Carlos’s figure seed a bit desolate.

Carlos originally lifted his head with a bit of expectation, but upon seeing that it was Rainny White who walked in, his brows instantly furrowed, and a trace of disappointnt flashed in his eyes.

He stood up impatiently, his tone filled with displeasure,

“Why is it you?”

Rainny White, perplexed by his cold attitude, showed a hint of grievance on her face and softly said,

“Brother Carter, wasn’t it you who asked the police to contact ?”

Carlos frowned deeply, showing a helpless expression, and explained, “I asked the police to contact Emily Parker. Never mind, it’s too complicated to explain right now.”

Recalling the scene at the bar, Carlos realized he had made a mistake.

The bar had been chaotic, and he had been eagerly awaiting a call from Emily Parker. But unexpectedly, Doctor Bennet had suddenly smashed his phone.

In his anger, he had thrashed Doctor Bennet and his group.

When the police arrived, everyone involved in the fight was arrested.

Carlos’s phone had also been confiscated by the police. When the police asked whom to contact, not wanting Mrs. Carter to know about this, he had hastily said soone had just called him and asked the police to contact that person.

He had naturally assud that the call was from Emily Parker, but unexpectedly, it was from Rainny White…

Emily Parker and Oliver Ross hurriedly arrived half an hour later.

As soon as Emily Parker walked into the police station, she heard an extrely arrogant voice echoing in the hall.

“Look at what they’ve done to my son! And you still want to cover for that Carter guy?

If you don’t throw him in jail, I’ll expose you to the dia!”

Following the voice, Emily Parker saw a heavily made-up lady not far away.

She was dressed in a luxurious yet sowhat gaudy designer suit, standing there arrogantly with a lawyer by her side.

Doctor Bennet stood next to her with a gloomy face, his head slightly lowered, a hint of anger in his eyes.

Mrs. Bennet, having learned that her precious son had been beaten, was now furious, her hands on her hips, making a scene in the police station.

“That’s Mrs. Bennet, Doctor Bennet’s mother.

The Bennet family is a prestigious one with political and business ties. Though their business achievents aren’t as high as the Carter Clan, Mrs. Bennet is a socialite with her own family’s political influence.”

Oliver Ross bent down slightly, whispering in Emily Parker’s ear, his face showing a hint of worry.

Seeing Mrs. Bennet’s arrogant and domineering deanor, Oliver Ross couldn’t help but break into a cold sweat for his boss, Carlos, his brows furrowed, and his eyes filled with tension.

Before coming, he had already contacted the Carter Clan’s legal team, intending to bring a lawyer over.

But the legal departnt had said that President Palr had decreed that Carlos was no longer the general manager of the Carter Clan.

From now on, the legal team would no longer assist with any matters related to him.

Hence, this matter could only be resolved by the boss’s wife.

Although the boss’s wife had perford comndably at the recent board eting, whether she could handle a socialite like Mrs. Bennet remained uncertain.

Oliver Ross was already feeling a vague sense of worry.

“Mrs. Bennet, we will handle this matter impartially.

The bail procedures for Doctor Bennet have been completed.”

The police couldn’t afford to slight Mrs. Bennet, so they specifically assigned an experienced veteran officer to assist her.

The veteran officer had a solemn expression, his tone respectful, his body slightly bent, showing his regard for Mrs. Bennet.

“Hello, I am a family mber of Carlos, here to handle his bail procedures.”

Emily Parker stepped forward, and at the sound of her voice, Doctor Bennet imdiately lifted his head, staring intently at her.

Doctor Bennet quickly moved closer, whispering in Mrs. Bennet’s ear,

“Auntie, this is Emily Parker, Carlos’s disgraceful wife.”

While saying this, Doctor Bennet had a schadenfreude smile on his face, his eyes glinting with malice, seeming to relish Mrs. Bennet’s upcoming reaction.

Mrs. Bennet slightly raised her chin, snorting disdainfully, her expression growing more contemptuous, speaking harshly,

“So, you’re the woman who clung to your child to climb the ranks?

You do look like a vixen.”

As a socialite born into wealth, Mrs. Bennet always enjoyed a life of luxury and prided herself on her noble status, looking down on people like Emily Parker who had no background or status.

At this mont, she crossed her arms in front of her, her eyes full of disdain, a mocking smile on her lips, as if degrading Emily Parker would give her imnse satisfaction.

Emily Parker’s lips curved into a composed smile, her eyes clear and fearless, eting Mrs. Bennet’s contemptuous gaze head-on, and she slowly spoke,

“I’m not nearly as capable as Mrs. Bennet.

I’ve heard that you also climbed the ranks using your child, stealing your sister’s fiancé?

Oh, and there are other things from your past. If you’re interested, I don’t mind discussing them here.”

Emily Parker’s voice was unhurried but clear and audible to everyone in the slightly noisy police station hall.

On her way here, Emily Parker hadn’t been idle. She had looked up everything she could about the Bennet family, and she had indeed discovered so interesting things.

Mrs. Bennet’s previously smug and overbearing face imdiately turned an awkward red, as if being exposed in public had made her extrely uncomfortable.

Standing beside her, Doctor Bennet looked as if he had seen a ghost, his face full of shock.

Mrs. Bennet’s face turned alternately red and pale.

The Bennet family’s past, which had been buried for years, was known to only a few. How could Emily Parker have found out about it?

Mrs. Bennet gathered her composure, glanced at the lawyer behind her, and regained her confidence.

“You… you are spouting nonsense!

If you keep babbling, I’ll have our lawyer sue you.

And your useless husband, I’ll make sure you both end up in jail.”
