Chapter 216: Chapter 211 She Is More Important Than Anyone Else

Carlos’s gaze fixed on that familiar number, hesitating slightly.

The surrounding air seed to have frozen, and ti felt slow at this mont.

After a brief pause, he still pressed the answer button.

In an instant, a faint sobbing sound ca from the other end of the phone.

“Brother Carter…” Rainny White’s voice carried a sobbing tone, filled with endless grievances.

Carlos instinctively turned his head slightly, glancing at Emily Parker sitting beside him. For so reason, a naless sense of guilt surged in his heart.

Emily was quietly looking out the window, the street scenes passing by like a carousel. She seed to have not heard the phone call at all, her expression calm as water.

“What’s wrong?”

Carlos asked, his voice unconsciously softening.

He hadn’t been in contact with Rainny White for quite so ti.

During this period, he was overwheld with work, and the ssages Rainny sent were only replied to hastily.

“I got fired.”

Rainny said with a stamring voice, full of disbelief and disappointnt.

Rainny had been working at the Carter Clan for a month, during which she gave her all. Her work ability was recognized by everyone, and she was even praised by Vice President Palr before.

At that ti, she was overjoyed, believing that she would be able to remain at the Carter Clan if she successfully completed her internship.

In such a prestigious company as the Carter Clan, if she could stay, she would have the opportunity to root herself in the Capital and start a new life.

But now, everything has turned into a bubble, and the imnse disparity was beyond her ability to bear. All her grievances could only be confided to Carlos.

On this end of the phone, Carlos frowned slightly.

Rainny’s voice ca intermittently, carrying a cautious guilt.

“I didn’t an to bother you.

But I didn’t know who else to turn to.”

Her words were full of helplessness, like soone groping in the dark, and Carlos was the first one she thought of.

Carlos was silent for a mont, Rainny’s face flashing in his mind, and he couldn’t help but feel a touch of compassion.

He cleared his throat, about to offer so words of comfort, but then instinctively glanced at Emily beside him, swallowing back the words he was about to say.

Emily continued to look out the window, but Carlos felt a faint sense of detachnt surrounding her, making him inexplicably uneasy.

He took a deep breath, trying to keep his voice calm and gentle,

“Rainny, don’t rush. Tell slowly, what exactly happened?”

Rainny sniffled on the other end, starting to recount the process of her dismissal intermittently.

“It was soone from the Secretariat who inford , saying that I offended the miss.”

Rainny’s heart was full of grievances, her voice choked with sobs.

Recalling the scene of attending the City First Middle School’s literary performance, she was full of confusion.

A few days ago, she was still excitedly following Vice President Palr to the performance. When she cupped the flowers in both hands and respectfully presented them to the miss, the miss smiled warmly and thanked her kindly.

The atmosphere was relaxed and pleasant at the ti, and she clearly rembered that the miss was in a very good mood. She couldn’t figure out why she suddenly offended her.

“I really don’t know what I did wrong.”

Rainny choked with sobs, her words filled with confusion and helplessness,

“This morning, I ca to work as usual, but before I could even sit down, soone from the Secretariat told with a stern face that I was fired. They didn’t even clearly state the specific reason, only emphasizing that I offended the miss.

Brother Carter, can you ask Brother Ross what’s going on?”

Rainny’s tone carried a plea, full of hope that Carlos would find out the truth and help her get her job back.

Carlos sighed softly when he heard this, raising his hand to pinch the bridge of his nose—it turned out to be this incident.

At the literary performance that day, there were frequent mishaps. Rainny probably got too nervous and mistook the intended recipient, giving the flowers ant for Maria Carter to Alia Willow instead.

The scene was sowhat chaotic at that ti, and Carlos didn’t have the opportunity to remind her.

Maria must have been upset and couldn’t swallow this, so she took it out on Rainny.

Thinking of this, Carlos felt conflicted. On one side was Rainny, on the other was his difficult-to-deal-with sister, Maria; it was indeed a tricky situation.

On the phone, Rainny’s voice carried cautious probing, mixed with deep disappointnt.

“Brother Carter, if you find it difficult.

Could you help transfer back to Carter Automotive? I don’t ask for much; I just need a job to support myself.

You know, my family’s situation isn’t great. My father passed away when I was young.

My mother is also in poor health, and these years, my university fees have cost a lot; I need to find a job as soon as possible.”

Her tone was filled with helplessness. Once able to work at the Carter Clan, she was overjoyed.

But now, having been dismissed, she could only retreat and settle for less, hoping to return to Carter Automotive, at least to have a place to make a living.

Listening to Rainny’s words, Carlos felt a tinge of discomfort. Rainny’s family was indeed poor and needed the job, and he couldn’t ignore it.

“Rainny, don’t worry. Wait for my news.”

Carlos hung up the phone and turned to see Emily looking at him.

Emily quietly sat there, emotions swirling in her eyes,

“It seems he really loves Rainny White, willing to disregard his sister Maria Carter’s feelings for her.”

She thought silently, a sour feeling quietly creeping up her heart. Her gaze, which was just now looking toward the window, instantly dimd, like stars shrouded by clouds blocking the light.

She lowered her eyes, her long eyelashes hiding a trace of inexpressible disappointnt in her eyes.

Carlos had been secretly watching Emily, and seeing her like this, his heart skipped a beat, and he felt a sudden panic.

He opened his mouth, wanting to explain sothing.

“Emily, don’t misunderstand. Rainny and I are just… I can’t ignore her issues.”

Carlos’s voice was sowhat anxious, and just as he was racking his brain to explain clearly, the car slowly ca to a stop, right at the entrance of Eastern Hospital.

Emily remained silent, her face still carrying a faint sense of detachnt.

She seed unwilling to listen to Carlos’s explanation any longer, nor did she want to face her own complex emotions at the mont, so she decisively opened the car door and got out.

Her actions were quick and brisk, and she quickly rged into the flow of people coming and going at the hospital entrance.

Emily got out of the car in one breath, her heart full of grievance and disappointnt, her steps urgent as she walked toward the hospital.

She lowered her head, imrsed in her thoughts, not noticing the situation ahead at all. After walking a few steps, she suddenly bumped into soone’s arms.

She let out a soft grunt and instinctively took a step back, raising her head, just about to apologize, but at the mont she saw the person’s face clearly.

The other person couldn’t help but exclaim softly, “Doctor, I finally found you!”
