Chapter 387: Chapter 387: You Need to Take It to Heart

The two returned ho and entered the villa, but Fang Nianzhi hadn’t co back to her senses until they had both washed up and were lying in the big bed. Fang Nianzhi suddenly sat up with a jolt.

Sang Siyang felt slightly anxious inside. He stared at her without moving, waiting for what she would say next.

If she regretted it and didn’t want to be with him anymore, then he would let her go.

“Sang Siyang, you said last ti that you would buy lots of novels to fill up the entire study—when are you going to buy them?” Fang Nianzhi had been thinking about this for the past few days and wanted to ntion it to him, but she kept forgetting by the ti he got off work.

Now that she finally rembered, she couldn’t wait until tomorrow, or she’d forget again.

“They’ve already been ordered. They should all be delivered in a couple of days.”

Sang Siyang’s initially tense heart couldn’t help but feel both amused and exasperated upon hearing her words.

“Oh, okay.” Fang Nianzhi then lay down to sleep at ease. She wasn’t really trying to rush him—it was mainly because she feared he wouldn’t keep his word.

After all, not fulfilling a promise was seriously disappointing behavior.

“Nianzhi, is that all you wanted to talk about? Today on the Ferris wheel…” Sang Siyang couldn’t keep his words hidden; he was desperate to know her answer.

She had agreed on the Ferris wheel, but she hadn’t said a word about it afterward.

“Haven’t I already agreed? Why are you still asking?” Fang Nianzhi’s cheeks flushed red. After all, she had been single her whole life, and until now, when they were rely engaged through an agreent, it hadn’t felt real to her.

But suddenly becoming a real husband and wife felt unfamiliar to her, and she wasn’t sure how to behave.

“Alright.” Sang Siyang saw her blushing face and couldn’t resist the urge to smile.

The Si family mbers were all preoccupied with Si Jing’s marriage matters, while Si Jing himself would avoid it whenever possible.

One day, Si Tiantian caught her uncle sneaking snacks in the bathroom. “Uncle, why are you eating in the bathroom? Doesn’t it sll in here?”

“…If I don’t eat here, do you think I would have any peace at all?”

Si Jing swallowed his saliva and silently consoled himself in his mind: the bathroom was clean at the mont, which pretty much made it no different from the outside.

“But Grandma and the others an well for you, so why are you afraid of marrying, Uncle? Wouldn’t it be nice to have soone as gentle as my mother by your side?”

“It’s not that it wouldn’t be nice; it’s primarily because… I might not et soone like that. Look at my brother, did he find your mother through a matchmaking eting? No, he didn’t. What does that tell you? It’s not like you can only et the right person through matchmaking.”

Si Jing spoke earnestly, finding the idea of wasting ti sitting for hours in a restaurant with a woman unbearable; it was a huge waste of ti when he could be at the company.

“You still have the nerve to compare yourself to your brother? His was a childhood engagent. Even though they had issues later, he had the skills to win her back. And you… let’s not talk about it.”

Father Si had just been about to find his son when he overheard such a conversation and couldn’t help but feel exasperated.

“That’s because he had a childhood engagent, and I didn’t. It’s not my fault. To put it plainly, you’re biased. You never arranged one for when I was younger, so if I don’t have a wife now, that’s on you.”

Si Jing didn’t accept his father’s criticism and pushed the bla right back.

Nobody could make him feel it was his fault; it wouldn’t be his fault even if he was still single at seventy or eighty.

“What do you an bias? Are you looking for a beating, kid?”

Father Si pretended to hit him, but Si Jing deftly dodged with a swift move.

“Then tell why it was my brother who had a childhood engagent and not . Besides, even a marriage arranged with soone else’s family would have been fine.”

Si Jing spoke rrily, but he knew very well that if it were really like that, he wouldn’t be laughing anymore.

“Speaking of which, I rember the Chen family… At that ti, we did have an arrangent for you, but let’s not talk about it now.”

The expression on Father Si’s face unconsciously beca severe. The Chen family had indeed suffered a tragedy. With that situation at the ti, no one could have helped.

The Si family also needed to focus on their own stability and developnt.

“What do you an, you had an arrangent for too? Why have you never ntioned it to ?” Si Jing couldn’t believe his eyes.

The look in his dad’s eyes clearly suggested sothing was wrong. If they were so anxious for him to get married, they would have let him et that childhood engagent a long ti ago.

“Afterward, the Chen family suffered upheaval, and only a little girl was left. With so many enemies, it’s likely that it was more bad than good for them.” Father Si sighed deeply.

When he arrived on the scene that day, it was a complete ss. The once glorious Chen family couldn’t hold on and was soon forgotten by most.

“That’s so tragic.” Si Jing hadn’t expected such a turn of events from his childhood, which he had not been aware of.

“That’s why, you see, the world changes every mont; cherishing the present is what’s most important.” Father Si felt nostalgic as he spoke; many of his forr business partners had gone their separate ways, so he might never see again in this life.

“Dad, what you just said is very philosophical and very valid. I think you don’t need to worry too much about my marriage. Who knows, maybe tomorrow I’ll bring you a daughter-in-law, considering how the world changes every day.”

Si Jing placated him half-heartedly, recently really intimidated by the insistence on marriage, to the point where he even felt guilty for not having a girlfriend at ho.

“Do you think I want to push you? Grandpa’s health hasn’t been good lately, and the only thing he’s worried about is you.”

Father Si’s mood turned a little somber. Recently, he had accompanied the old man to dical checkups, and the doctor’s ssage was that there was no room for recovery; at most, he had three months left.

The old man didn’t dare tell anyone, even requesting that he help with the concealnt, fearing it would worry the entire family.

What the old man often talked about was that Si Jing, being so old and still without his own family, made him wonder if he would be able to take care of himself in the future.

“Dad, look at what you’re saying! You can’t curse Grandpa just to rush my marriage.”

Si Jing wasn’t so perceptive and completely missed any signs that sothing was amiss.

A thought flashed through Father Si’s mind: to tell only Si Jing, to bring ho a woman to deceive the old man and put his mind at rest.

But then he rembered that this son could never keep a secret. Just like the last ti Ah Li regained his mory and told the boy, and imdiately everyone knew.

Forget it, forget it; he couldn’t be trusted. He still couldn’t tell Si Jing.

“I was too anxious, but your grandfather is indeed old, so you have to take it to heart.”
