"Find a place closer." Florence Fuller said, "You two are making things difficult for yourselves."

"It’s fine, we’re used to it." Evelyn Shaw replied.

Florence Fuller didn’t say anything more.

As it got close to midnight, Florence Fuller decided to stay over; she shared a room with Evelyn Shaw.

Evelyn Shaw handed her a set of pajamas, "Do you want to wash the clothes you’re wearing tonight?"

"Sure, you can find another set tomorrow."

Evelyn Shaw opened her closet, "This is all I have..."

Her clothing style might not be similar to Florence Fuller’s, leaning more towards casual.

They were about the sa height and build, and Florence Fuller didn’t mind, "As long as they fit, I’m going to shower."

The two sisters often slept together when they were young. Now, after so long, sharing the sa bed, the room was quiet, and neither of them spoke.

"Do you still have those songs and lyrics from before?"

In the silent room, Florence Fuller broke the silence.

"I sold them."

Florence Fuller sighed.

"It’s okay, I feel I’m doing quite well now." Evelyn Shaw turned to look at her in the dark, "Thank you."

Florence Fuller tugged at the quilt, "Let’s sleep."

——

Florence Fuller woke up to so rustling sounds, it was not yet six o’clock. She sat up drowsily.

Evelyn Shaw moved quietly, "Did I wake you?"

"No." Her voice was a bit hoarse, "Up so early."

"I’ll leave as soon as I have breakfast, you can sleep a bit more."

"Take my car." Florence Fuller got out of bed, "I can get ready quickly."

She changed into one of Evelyn Shaw’s outfits and walked out of the room, Charles Shaw had already prepared breakfast.

"Why is Florence up too?"

"Let’s leave together." She yawned and sat down at the table.

Evelyn Shaw blinked, "It’s not a bad idea to take her car."

After breakfast, they headed out; the sky was already bright.

Evelyn Shaw’s workplace was more on the way than Charles Shaw’s, so Florence Fuller took her there first before heading to DN Dawn with Charles Shaw.

Charles Shaw seed hesitant to speak several tis, and it wasn’t until Evelyn Shaw got out of the car that Florence Fuller asked, "What do you want to ask?"

"You helped Evelyn find a job before..."

"Do you think you got into DN Dawn because of my help?"

Charles Shaw nodded.

"You think too highly of ." Florence Fuller chuckled, "I helped Evelyn because she hadn’t found a job at the ti, but you were already hired by DN."

"Further," she glanced at Charles Shaw, "if I had really pulled so strings, you wouldn’t be stuck reporting news, still rotating as a night anchor."

Charles Shaw fell silent.

Indeed.

He was genuinely hired by DN Dawn because they found him qualified. However, DN Dawn was overly capitalistic; just a few anchors fighting for hot shows, resorting to all kinds of tactics like seeking investnts, pulling strings, which ant individuals like him, even if qualified, would get buried.

Because he couldn’t secure investnts nor choose sides with people.

"What’s going on between you and Alia Gordon?"

Charles Shaw’s expression darkened, "There’s nothing between us."

Florence Fuller understood.

"Drop off at the corner before DN Dawn," Charles Shaw said.

Though her car was understatedly luxurious, it was clearly not inexpensive to the discerning eye. Florence Fuller respected his wishes and dropped him off at the corner before DN Dawn.

After the car ca to a stop, Charles Shaw didn’t imdiately get out. He took out a bank card from his bag and handed it to Florence Fuller, "These past two years, you’ve been covering mom’s hospital expenses. There’s two hundred thousand in this card; although it’s not much, I’d still like you to accept it."

Florence Fuller looked at the card, then at Charles Shaw, "Alright, I’ll take the money, so from now on, let’s set boundaries."

She reached for the card but Charles Shaw imdiately withdrew his hand upon hearing her words, "I didn’t an it like that."

"Then what do you an?" Florence Fuller asked, "All I understand from accepting your money is that."

"We are family, but our family wronged you." Charles Shaw said, "Yet you’re still helping us so much."

"Do I have to watch mom die with open eyes?" Florence Fuller replied, "I can understand dad’s actions back then, and you don’t need to live in guilt forever. I just hated that he said nothing and sent away without a word."

She wasn’t unreasonable. If she’d known Alia Linney was sick, and if she’d known returning could afford her treatnt, she would’ve returned willingly.

"Take the card back; I’ll pretend this never happened." Florence Fuller looked out the car window, "You and Evelyn just focus on your work. I’ll continue to handle the hospital expenses; after all, she’s the mother who raised ."

Charles Shaw looked at her with a complex expression, "Thank you."

He got out of the car.

Watching Charles Shaw’s retreating figure, she sighed.

——

One week later.

Next month, she’ll accompany the older gentleman to the farm, so Florence Fuller had been busy handling important tasks on hand these past few days.

After reviewing so design products, she planned to find Chloe Quinn, but ran into Charles Shaw... along with a few employees from DN Dawn in the elevator.

Charles Shaw was briefly taken aback upon seeing her.

They all wore employee badges around their necks; so even carried caras.

"President Fuller." Secretary Zorton greeted her politely.

Florence Fuller stepped into the elevator, "What’s this?"

"Oh, President Quinn accepted an interview with DN Dawn; these are reporters from the TV station."

Florence Fuller raised an eyebrow.

"Are you going back to the office, President Fuller?" Zorton asked.

"I’m looking for her."

Zorton nodded.

Once on the intended floor, Florence Fuller deliberately slowed her pace, allowing others to go ahead. The interview area was set by the floor-to-ceiling windows in the lounge area, and several staff mbers began setting up the equipnt.

"Zorton~" Chloe Quinn erged from the office, "Check how this shade of lipstick looks on cara for , will you?"

Then she saw Florence Fuller by the tea bar.

Florence Fuller was making tea and glanced at her.

"What are you doing here? Have you finished looking over the products? How are they?"

"Quite good." Florence Fuller nodded, "Why did you accept an interview?"

Previously, they had turned down interview requests from TV stations and newspapers alike.

"You think I wanted to?" Chloe Quinn lowered her voice, "You acquired the company, and the request ca from your brother; how could I not oblige?"

"Why didn’t he interview then?" Florence Fuller wondered.

Chloe Quinn tossed her hair, giving Florence Fuller a playful wink, "Maybe your brother’s got a crush on ."

Florence Fuller responded with a ’do you think I believe that’ expression.

Then she maneuvered around Chloe Quinn with her freshly brewed tea.

Charles Shaw was looking over the interview script when a voice above him said, "Tea."

A cup of tea was placed on the coffee table in front of him.

"Thank you... President Fuller."

Florence Fuller raised an eyebrow.

Chloe Quinn quickly handed the other two cups to the cara crew, "Have so tea, everyone, tea for all."

"Thank you, President Quinn." The crew’s eyes snapped back from Charles Shaw and Florence Fuller.

It made it seem as though Charles Shaw knew the boss.
