Shen Qingqing had lived in the courtyard for several years. The family mbers and on-duty personnel here all knew her.

Seeing her walking out with a cold expression, soone asked, "Isn’t your Zhixun back for New Year’s? Why haven’t we seen him?"

The speaker was Li Hongyan, a woman in her early thirties who enjoyed prying into other people’s private lives.

She was always gossiping endlessly about everyone.

Three years ago, when Jiang Zhixun went to the Northwest, Shen Qingqing beca the subject of ridicule, and much of the "credit" for this could be attributed to Li Hongyan.

Not bothering with pleasantries, Shen Qingqing replied coldly, "If you’re so concerned about him, why don’t you go to the house and look for him."

Li Hongyan was caught off guard.

Unhappily, she countered, "Xiao Shen, have you swallowed gunpowder today? I’m a married woman; what would it an for to go looking for Zhixun?"

Zhixun...

The way she called him was rather familiar.

Shen Qingqing smirked sarcastically, "You’re so concerned about him that I thought you had so ideas of your own."

"What nonsense are you spouting?"

Li Hongyan quickly glanced around, afraid that soone might overhear.

The standards for propriety between n and won were strict; talking recklessly could ruin soone!

Not to ntion whether Shen Qingqing’s words might affect Li Hongyan’s family; even if there was a misunderstanding, she would be in big trouble.

Luckily, there was no one around.

Li Hongyan breathed a sigh of relief.

From afar, she spotted Jiang Zhixun approaching. Li Hongyan quickly went to complain to him, "Zhixun, what’s wrong with your wife? I was talking to her nicely, and she threw dirt on ."

Everyone in the courtyard knew Li Hongyan’s temperant inside and out.

Jiang Zhixun was already feeling heavy-hearted. Hearing soone criticize Shen Qingqing just added to his irritation.

He frowned. "She doesn’t want to talk to you, so why insist on disturbing her?"

Li Hongyan’s face instantly turned red.

From embarrassnt.

She hadn’t expected Jiang Zhixun to scold Shen Qingqing, but she thought he might say a few nice words to give her a way out. Isn’t that what he should do?

Scanning Jiang Zhixun, she noticed he held so docunts or similar items in his hand.

Imdiately she cast aside her awkwardness.

"What business are you handling?"

Jiang Zhixun pressed his lips together, saying nothing, his aggrieved gaze falling on Shen Qingqing.

Shen Qingqing rolled her eyes. "Divorce."

Li Hongyan was stunned.

Though she had once pondered whether there might co a day when Jiang Zhixun would kick Shen Qingqing out.

Then she’d be able to introduce her little sister-in-law to Jiang Zhixun.

Her sister-in-law was hardworking and educated, the sa age as Shen Qingqing.

Back in high school, she used to visit the Jiang Family to have Shen Qingqing help with howork.

If one were to think about it, Jiang Zhixun watched her sister-in-law grow up, making them true childhood sweethearts.

Shen Qingqing was just an outsider who barged in as a troublemaker!

Fortunately, her sister-in-law was still unmarried. Although she was a bit shy, she had a delicate beauty and matched Jiang Zhixun well.

Father Jiang was the number one figure in the military district, and Jiang Zhixun himself was a pilot. Never mind second marriages—whether third or fourth marriages, there would still be plenty of won willing to marry him.

She hadn’t expected this day to really co.

Li Hongyan suppressed her laughter forcefully, "Well, you two go handle your business quickly; otherwise, the comrades at the civil affairs bureau might be heading out on vacation."

After finishing, she quickly rushed back ho.

Judging from Li Hongyan’s reaction, Shen Qingqing knew it wouldn’t take half a day for the news of her and Jiang Zhixun’s divorce to spread throughout the courtyard.

If it were in the past, she might have felt anxious.

Afraid of people gossiping behind her back.

But now, she didn’t care anymore. Mouths were attached to other people; whatever they wanted to say was up to them, as long as they didn’t bother her.

Shen Qingqing nonchalantly let the divorce news spread far and wide.

Jiang Zhixun looked despondent.

Like a large, abandoned dog.

He really didn’t want a divorce. Not at all.

Clearly, they could ride a bicycle to the civil affairs bureau, but Jiang Zhixun wanted to savor the last monts.

Shen Qingqing didn’t let him go back to retrieve the bike, so he didn’t take the initiative to do sothing so insincere.

The two walked one after another, neither speaking.

Truth be told, Shen Qingqing was quite nervous, afraid Jiang Zhixun might go back on his word.

After all, this wasn’t the first ti he had done sothing like this.

If she hadn’t exaggerated the circumstances earlier, things wouldn’t have gone this smoothly.

After all, he still had an ally.

Shen Qingqing’s heart hung in suspense. Arriving at the civil affairs bureau, Jiang Zhixun didn’t back out at the last minute, which finally allowed her to breathe a little easier.

Hearing they intended to divorce, staff mbers responsible for diating stepped in.

They asked over and over, but couldn’t uncover any compelling reason for divorce.

There was no dostic violence, no improper relationships.

They just suddenly didn’t want to live together anymore.

"Marriage is a serious commitnt. You shouldn’t resort to divorce over minor conflicts; it’s irresponsible."

Shen Qingqing repeated the sa line, "We’ve already reached an agreent."

Jiang Zhixun’s thin lips remained tightly pressed together, making it clear he wasn’t divorcing willingly.

The diator tried persuading earnestly, "Every family experiences ups and downs. If there are conflicts, resolve the issues."

Shen Qingqing nodded in agreent. "Once we divorce, our conflicts will be resolved."

Finding it impossible to reason with her, the staff turned to Jiang Zhixun, "Is there truly no way to reconcile your differences?"

Shen Qingqing’s gaze fell on Jiang Zhixun, warning him silently against saying anything inappropriate.

Jiang Zhixun looked even more aggrieved.

What else could he say?

Shen Qingqing had already used her health as leverage to threaten him.

Was he supposed to stand by and watch her health deteriorate?

He nodded, "I’ll listen to her."

The staff was exasperated, "If the woman says don’t divorce, then you wouldn’t divorce?"

"Then I wouldn’t divorce."

"If you don’t want to divorce, then show so sincerity and suggest how to resolve your issues."

Jiang Zhixun gave the sa answer, "I’ll listen to her."

There truly wasn’t another solution to their problems.

After all, ti couldn’t be reversed.

He couldn’t go back three years to stop himself from making a foolish decision.

If he were heartless, he could use old tricks to deal with Shen Qingqing.

But now, he simply couldn’t bring himself to do it.

Images of her lying weakly on a hospital bed constantly played in his mind.

He would also imagine her secretly struggling in unknown places, suffering from insomnia and headaches, feeling unwell everywhere, and lethargic.

Each ti he thought about it, his guilt deepened further.

Besides guilt, there was an undeniable pang of sympathy.

Shen Qingqing was a good girl; Jiang Zhixun had always known that.

But such a good girl, after marrying him for three years, had fallen gravely ill.

As long as he had a shred of conscience, he shouldn’t keep dragging her down.

The diation went on for a long ti without progress.

Finally, the staff asked, "Are you sure you want to divorce?"

Shen Qingqing nodded, "We’re sure."

Under her watchful gaze, Jiang Zhixun nodded as well but said nothing.

Nowadays, marriage freedom is emphasized. If the parties insist on divorce, no amount of persuasion from others could change their minds.

The paperwork was submitted.

Once processed, the divorce certificate ended up in Shen Qingqing’s hands.

It was what she had been longing for.

It didn’t weigh much. Holding it felt light as air, but it was magical, instantly lifting the heavy burden from her heart.

She was really divorced.

From now on, she would just be Shen Qingqing.

No longer the wife of the Jiang Family who couldn’t gain her husband’s favor!
