After listening to the accusations from the several older won and the questions from the police,
Just as Scarlett Jewel was about to make an excuse, Gavin Sinclair cut her off.
"Is what these won are saying true?"
Gavin Sinclair stared at Scarlett Jewel, his eyes as cold and sharp as a blade of ancient ice.
Scarlett Jewel trembled, frightened by his gaze.
The excuses she had just prepared vanished from her mind.
She just stamred, unable to offer a coherent explanation.
"I... I just..."
Claire rcer couldn’t be bothered to listen to her excuses and slapped her twice across the face.
Scarlett Jewel clutched her cheek in disbelief, glaring at Claire rcer.
"How dare you hit in front of the police?"
A police officer stepped forward to caution Claire rcer. "Ms. rcer, we understand your feelings, but please control your emotions."
"I’m sorry, Officer. When I think about how they caused my elderly grandmother to sprain her back, especially when she’s already having a hard ti adjusting, I just can’t control myself."
Hearing this, the officer couldn’t bring himself to reprimand her further.
After all, it was a fact that they had caused the old woman to sprain her back.
As a family mber, her emotional reaction was understandable, even justifiable.
Claire rcer stared at Scarlett Jewel, who was still clutching her cheek, her eyes glinting with a sharp, cold light.
"Scarlett Jewel, I really don’t understand what I ever did to you."
"You were willing to be a howrecker just to beco Mrs. Sterling."
"You and Gavin Sinclair had your wedding today. You got your wish and married into the Sinclair family."
"I don’t know why you’re still so unhappy with that you have to pick fights with at every turn."
"You can co after , that’s fine. But why did you have them hurt an elderly woman?"
Scarlett Jewel quickly explained, "I just told them to give you a hard ti. I never told them to hurt that old hag."
"How was I supposed to know they would do sothing like that? Don’t pin all the bla on ."
Claire rcer narrowed her icy eyes, staring at Scarlett Jewel as if she wanted to bore holes through her with her gaze.
"If you hadn’t paid them, would they have targeted my grandmother and for no reason?"
"You still refuse to admit you were wrong. You’re still making excuses."
"In that case, Officer, we refuse any diation."
"Her actions constitute hiring soone to commit assault. This is a criminal offense, so let’s follow legal procedures."
Hearing this, Scarlett Jewel didn’t panic.
She was pregnant, after all, carrying a child.
Even if she committed a cri, she couldn’t be sent to jail.
Besides, sothing this minor would never lead to a prison sentence.
She gave a calm, cold smirk and said to Claire rcer,
"Claire rcer, you know as well as I do that I’m pregnant."
"Never mind that your broke husband’s grandmother only sprained her back. Even if she were seriously injured, my condition ans I can’t go to jail."
The words had barely left her mouth when Gavin Sinclair slapped her across the face.
Scarlett Jewel’s cheek, already red and puffy from Claire’s slap, swelled up even more.
"Gavin Sinclair, are you insane...?"
She snarled at Gavin Sinclair, her face contorted with rage.
"You idiot," Gavin Sinclair shot back angrily.
"Even if you’re pregnant and won’t go to jail, this is a malicious act! If you’re actually charged with a cri, you’ll have a criminal record."
"As the wealthiest family in Rhonia, how can the Sinclair family allow one of our own to get a criminal record?"
"If word of this gets out, what will people think of the Sinclair family? What will they think of ?"
"You may have no sha, but the Sinclair family still has its reputation to uphold."
After his furious tirade at Scarlett Jewel,
Gavin Sinclair turned to Claire rcer, his tone now laced with a hint of groveling.
"Claire, just tell what it will take to resolve this to your satisfaction."
It was true, just like Scarlett Jewel had said.
She was pregnant, so even if Claire pressed charges, she wouldn’t end up in jail.
Besides, the incident itself probably wasn’t serious enough for a prison sentence, and the older won were the ones who directly caused her grandmother’s injury.
She had only called the police to make her position clear: she wasn’t going to let this slide.
Now that Gavin Sinclair was asking what would satisfy her, she stated her terms.
"I want Scarlett Jewel and those won to write letters of apology by hand, and to record a video apology to be posted online."
"They will also apologize to my grandmother in person and compensate her for all damages."
The mont she heard she had to handwrite an apology, record herself reading it, and post it online, Scarlett Jewel imdiately refused.
"No way."
’This is too humiliating.’
Everyone would find out what she’d done, and she’d be hit with another wave of criticism.
Even now, people still occasionally left comnts on her social dia accounts, calling her a howrecker.
Once that apology video was posted, she would definitely be torn apart by comnts all over again.
Claire rcer shot her a cold look. "It’s either this or we go through legal channels. Get a criminal record, be detained for a few days, maybe ten. I don’t mind. It’s up to you."
Scarlett Jewel stamred, "I..."
Gavin Sinclair said, "We’ll do exactly as Claire says."
Scarlett Jewel was instantly furious.
"Gavin Sinclair... what right do you have to decide for ?"
"Then go get detained. We’ll get a divorce the mont you’re out," Gavin Sinclair said. "The Sinclair family will not keep soone with a criminal record to disgrace our na."
Scarlett Jewel was speechless.
In the end, Scarlett Jewel did as Claire rcer demanded. She wrote out the apology letter, recorded the video, and made her public apology.
She also went to the hospital to apologize to Mrs. Sutton in person and paid a sum in compensation.
Sure enough...
Countless people saw her apology video and flocked to her social dia accounts to leave comnts, cursing her out, accusing her, and blasting her.
Scarlett Jewel was so furious she didn’t even dare to look at the comnts or her private ssages.
She ended up disabling comnts entirely, blocking strangers from leaving ssages.
Only then did she finally get so peace.
When Felix Sinclair and Rose Gable found out what had happened, they wanted nothing more than to kick her out of the Sinclair family imdiately.
Felix Sinclair was already deeply embarrassed by her idea to pull strangers off the street to fill seats at the wedding.
If she hadn’t suggested grabbing passersby to fill the tables, would so many seniors have shown up?
Turning a perfectly fine wedding reception into a eting for the local senior citizens’ association?
But who would have thought that even on her wedding day, she couldn’t keep her head down and just had to provoke Claire rcer next door.
The thought that Claire rcer was now the daughter of the Rowan family, doted on by Mrs. Rowan herself, made Felix Sinclair sick with regret.
It also made him despise Rose Gable even more for having used a fake marriage certificate to deceive Claire in the first place.
’If not for that, the Rowan family’s daughter would be the Sinclair family’s daughter-in-law.’
’With the Rowan family’s backing, the Sinclairs could have climbed to even greater heights.’
’But now?’
Claire rcer had cut all ties with them.
And yet, Scarlett Jewel just had to go and provoke her.
Felix Sinclair’s chest heaved with fury as he glared daggers at Scarlett Jewel.
If she weren’t pregnant, he would have loved nothing more than to give her a good kick or two.
"Is Claire rcer soone you can afford to provoke?"
"You just can’t stay out of trouble. What the hell did the Sinclair family get saddled with by marrying you?"
"Gavin Sinclair, this is the howrecker you just had to have an affair with."
"Just look at the ss she’s made!"
Scarlett Jewel hung her head, not daring to make a sound.
’How was I supposed to know those won would actually hurt the old hag?’
’And how could I have known that bitch, Claire rcer, would actually call the police?’
’All I wanted was to cause her a little trouble. I never wanted to make a big scene and get dragged into it myself.’
’Who knew it would turn out like this?’
Her position in the Sinclair family was already precarious, and her words carried no weight. After this fiasco, she wouldn’t even dare to fart in the Sinclair household.
