"Grandpa."

The mont the call connected, Mr. Sutton went on the offensive.

"You brat, it’s only been a few days and you’re already married?"

"Weren’t you and Grandma always nagging to get married? Now that I am, why do you have a problem with it?"

Having an elder in the family is like having a child.

The two seventy-sothings in his family really gave him a headache sotis.

"What I an is, you just tricked the girl into marrying you like that?"

Tricked?

Although he had indeed deceived her about so things.

And this marriage was a matter of taking advantage of an opportunity.

Adrian Sutton glanced at Claire rcer.

He was terrified his grandfather would say sothing that would put him in a bad light and she would overhear it.

He imdiately got up, walked to the living room window, and lowered his voice to patiently explain.

"That’s not it, Grandpa. I didn’t trick her."

"But just the other day, I heard from Silas Rowan that you’ve had a secret crush on her for ten years, and you didn’t even dare to tell her who you are..."

Adrian Sutton quickly covered the phone’s receiver, nervously glancing back at Claire rcer.

Seeing that she was just scrolling through her phone, he breathed a sigh of relief.

"Grandpa, aren’t you happy that I’m married?"

"You ask if I’m happy?" Mr. Sutton had been so happy he almost jumped for joy just now.

"But I heard from Silas that the girl knows nothing about you. If that isn’t trickery, what is?"

Adrian Sutton really hated Silas Rowan’s big mouth.

He was the one who told his grandparents everything about him.

"Grandpa, I’ll explain it to you when I have ti. Don’t just listen to his side of the story."

"The girl just married you like that? Did you give a betrothal gift?"

"No."

"Did you buy a ring?"

"No."

"Did you propose?"

"Didn’t do that either."

"She married you with nothing at all?"

"Yes."

Thinking about it, Adrian Sutton felt he had truly wronged Claire.

He hadn’t prepared a single thing, yet she had gone and registered their marriage with him.

Although she had married him with her own agenda.

But he, on the other hand, had genuinely and wholeheartedly wanted to marry her.

"You rascal, tricking a girl into marrying you without spending a single cent..."

"From the sound of it, this girl is truly wonderful," Mrs. Sutton remarked from the side.

"Didn’t that boy Silas say that our Adrian has been pretending to be poor in front of her?"

"I really didn’t expect this girl to be so naive as to marry a penniless nobody like him."

"In this day and age, without a hefty betrothal gift, without a house, a car, or any savings, what girl would be willing to suffer with a poor man?"

"Do you think she’s a fool, willing to marry this stinking brat even under these circumstances..."

"Grandma, Claire isn’t a fool," Adrian Sutton explained with a helpless laugh. "She’s just not like those materialistic gold diggers."

"So what tricks did you use to coax the girl into registering the marriage with you?"

"Did our granddaughter-in-law fall for Adrian’s good looks?" Mrs. Sutton muttered on the side.

Mr. Sutton said, "What’s the use of being handso? You can’t eat a pretty face."

Adrian Sutton was speechless.

’Why do I get the feeling that my usually doting grandfather suddenly holds in such disdain?’

’Where did things go wrong?’

’I knew this would happen if I answered their call.’

He gave a completely helpless smile and tried to placate the two elders.

"In any case, you two can rest assured."

"I’ve successfully married your granddaughter-in-law today."

"You don’t need to worry about the other details."

The thought that he still hadn’t t his granddaughter-in-law made Mr. Sutton feel antsy.

"You’re already married to her, and you’re not going to bring her ho to et us?"

Given their fiery enthusiasm, he was genuinely afraid they would let sothing slip.

"Let’s wait until there’s ti. It’s not appropriate right now."

Mr. Sutton was instantly displeased. "What’s not appropriate? You’re already married. Are you going to hide her away for the rest of your life?"

"Either you bring her here, or we’ll co find you."

He had heard so things about his granddaughter-in-law from Silas Rowan; her situation was truly pitiful.

Although they had so past grievances with the Sinclair Family of Rhonia, she was also a victim.

Now that she was married to his grandson, they had to give her a formal eting, no matter what.

He had to let her know that the Sutton Family welcod her and valued her highly.

anwhile, Adrian Sutton thought about how he had been hiding his true circumstances.

He was genuinely worried that the wife he had just married would fly away.

He quickly objected. "You and Grandma are getting on in years. Don’t go to all that trouble."

"Your grandmother and I don’t mind the trouble," said Mr. Sutton.

"We were coming to Rhonia on the sixth of next month anyway. Coming a little earlier is no different."

Seeing his grandfather’s insistence, Adrian Sutton sighed helplessly.

"But I’m worried..."

"Worried about what?" Mrs. Sutton cut Adrian Sutton off before he could finish.

"Your grandfather and I have already heard all about her situation from Silas Rowan."

"Do you think your grandfather and I are so kind of thousand-year-old fossils?"

"What era do you think this is? We’re not that old-fashioned."

"Besides, in that business with the Sinclair Family, she was the one who was wronged."

"No matter what this girl has been through in the past, she is, after all, the person you’ve chosen."

"Soone who could make you harbor a secret crush for ten years, soone who could make you willingly—eagerly, even—step into marriage, must have her own rits and outstanding qualities."

"Grandma trusts your judgnt, so don’t be afraid that we’ll give her a hard ti."

Adrian Sutton had always known that his grandparents were very open-minded.

And that they greatly respected the romantic and marital choices of all their children and grandchildren.

"I’m not worried about that. I’m worried your enthusiasm will scare her."

"You also know I’ve hidden my situation from her. I’m afraid you’ll let it slip."

Mr. Sutton snorted. "Don’t we know what should and shouldn’t be said?"

"Exactly," Mrs. Sutton chid in. "It’s not like we’re a big mouth like Silas Rowan."

Hearing his grandmother call Silas Rowan a big mouth made Adrian Sutton happy.

That big mouth Silas Rowan was responsible for leaking basically everything about him to his grandparents.

In the end, he’d sold him out only to earn himself the title of ’big mouth’ from Grandma.

"Then I’ll find so ti to bring her ho."

"You will bring her back this month," Mr. Sutton commanded domineeringly.

"Since you’ve already married her, we can’t skimp on anything we owe the girl."

His grandmother quickly added from the side, "And not just material things like the betrothal gift."

"Most importantly, we have to show her our family’s sincerity and how much we value her."

Adrian Sutton said, "Rest assured, I’ll prepare everything. You two don’t need to worry."

"When will I get to hold my great-grandchild?" Mr. Sutton asked, catching him completely off guard.

The old man had changed the subject so quickly that Adrian Sutton almost didn’t register it.
