She felt it strange too, why there was that nagging anxiety about being discovered by Su Wanyu.

Luckily, the hot spring pool was quite large, with a pathway, and even a constructed hill that divided the pool in two.

Zheng Xiaoxuan made her way through the pathway to the other side of the pool to soak, refusing to appear in the sa fra as Lu Liang.

After a while, Su Wanyu ca over as well, tilting her head in confusion, “Where’s Xiaoxuan? I don’t see her.”

"I’m over here, co on over, Yu~”

From the other side of the hill, Zheng Xiaoxuan’s voice ca through, accompanied by the occasional droplet of water.

"It’s all the sa,” Lu Liang said with a smile, extending his hand in invitation.

"Xiaoxuan, then I’ll co over to you later,” Su Wanyu decided without a second thought, choosing Lu Liang decisively.

"There’s a flat surface by the bank where you can order whatever you want to drink or eat,” Lu Liang bragged.

Suddenly, ripples stirred on the water’s surface. It was not hard to guess that, on the other side of the hill, there was probably a fit of splashing and fuming rage.

"Shush!” Su Wanyu sighed, making a silencing gesture.

The two of them were always at odds. Being at odds was one thing, but the key issue was that Zheng Xiaoxuan always lost the argunts, yet her fighting spirit remained high.

With the buoyancy of the water, Lu Liang effortlessly held Su Wanyu against his chest, encircling her waist: “Later I’ll give you the supplentary card. If you have nothing else to do these days, you can co over for a visit.”

The annual fee of 2.8 million naturally covered more than just hot springs. There were also fishing, golf, and spa beauty treatnts, among various other anities.

It was not entirely free, however. Everything was tallied up once every quarter, and all expenses for food, drinks, and entertainnt were charged to the primary cardholder.

Su Wanyu nodded, a hint of loss flickering in her eyes. Lu Liang saying this probably ant he was going to be busy again.

"I’m sorry, I won’t be able to accompany you and Siqing,” Lu Liang sighed. He was due to go to Beijing tomorrow.

He did not know how long he would be away, but he would definitely try to make it back for the day Su Wanyu left the country.

"Actually, just being able to have monts like these together as a family is enough for ,” Su Wanyu said as she slapped the water with her legs, her feet wriggling like soone with restless leg syndro.

Ever since their little one was born, much of her ti had been spent learning how to be a good mother. Only in Lu Liang’s presence would she let her girlish nature show.

Lu Liang smiled, holding her hand and intertwining their fingers before suddenly saying, “You should know about her situation, right?”

Su Wanyu glanced at the artificial hill,

Nodding lightly, but not wanting to delve into that topic.

When she had been at her most helpless, it was Zheng Xiaoxuan who had offered a helping hand. No matter what Zheng Xiaoxuan was like or what her preferences were, Su Wanyu respected them and refrained from comnting.

Lu Liang gave a slight nod of understanding, not pressing further.

Su Wanyu said, “Then should I go and join her for a bit?”

"Go ahead.”

Lu Liang looked up at the starry sky, listening to the indistinct murmurs and laughter coming from the next pool.

In his mind gradually appeared Zheng Xiaoxuan’s stunning figure. To say he had no thoughts about it would certainly be self-deception.

After all, there’s only so long one can be a thief, not so long one can stand guard against one. They were unlikely to part ways any ti soon.

For their little one to grow up with a healthy set of values, he, as a father, was ready to make the necessary sacrifices.

The family of four spent the night in a log cabin…

The next morning, Lu Liang returned to the office first.

He t with Zhang Haoyu from the Silver Supervision Committee, a man in his early forties, wearing glasses, looking rather lean and shrewd.

He had just heard from Xu Jiawei that Lu Liang would be coming to the office today, so he had been waiting there since just past eight in the morning.

He had been waiting until now, 10:20 AM.

"Mr. Zhang, hello, I apologize for troubling you during the National Day holiday,” Lu Liang said with a polite smile.

Zhang Haoyu rubbed his hands together, smiling broadly, “Mr. Lu, it’s all a misunderstanding, as long as it’s cleared up it’s all fine.”

When immortals battle, mortals suffer. The night before last he’d been ordered to investigate Tianxing Private Equity, and then last night they told him to end the investigation.

Damn it, abrupt changes in orders are one thing, but they can’t be changed this way.

Becoming a pawn was one thing, after all, with his low status and voice, sotis being played was inevitable.

But to be used to play Lu Liang? What significance did he hold? His own fra could hardly withstand it.

Lu Liang raised an eyebrow, his tone serious and earnest, “Mr. Zhang, you must look into this thoroughly. Is it really just a misunderstanding?”

Zhang Haoyu replied with a wry smile, “Definitely a misunderstanding. In my twenty-two years of service, I’ve never seen clearer books than your company’s.”

Though his words were complintary, they were also true.

The state of a fund company’s books typically depends on the company’s performance.

Fund companies with poor performance often have ssy accounts that can’t be cleared up in ten days to half a month because they lack the ability to earn money from the market and must figure out how to dip into the principal. So, they resort to cooking the books.

But Tianxing Private Equity clearly didn’t have this issue. All expenses and incos were traceable.

There were no issues of ambiguity; the books were so clean they could serve as the antithesis of basket bridge case studies.

Lu Liang suddenly laughed, questioning critically, “Mr. Zhang, coming to such a quick conclusion challenges the professionalism of your investigation.”

"Mr. Lu, this is indeed our oversight,”

Zhang Haoyu replied with a strained smile, knowing that the inevitable had co.

The leaders are flawless and cannot be blad,

The scapegoat has to be carried on his shoulders alone.

Lu Liang narrowed his eyes, pondering for a mont before saying, “Mr. Zhang, may I have a word with you in private?”

Zhang Haoyu, taken aback, suddenly saw a glimr of hope and nodded hastily, following Lu Liang into the office.

"Mr. Zhang, you probably also know the reason, don’t you?” Lu Liang exchanged his cold deanor for a smile as he brewed a cup of tea for him.

Zhang Haoyu, feeling unexpectedly honored, held the cup with both hands and spoke carefully, “I’ve overheard bits and pieces.”
