Flas spread, heat waves rolled in.

A man wearing thin rubber gloves, was sealing off the area.

Ruan Youqing wanted to rush over to stop him.

"Bang!"

A ceiling lamp above her head crashed down on her; she was smashed to the ground.

The relentless fire engulfed her.

She couldn’t move, couldn’t escape.

Her gaze t the man’s, and the indifference in his eyes made her feel sick.

"Zhao Yixing, may you die a horrible death! Even if I beco a ghost, I won’t let you off..."

"Miss Rong."

A familiar female voice ca from beside her ear.

The woman on the bed opened her eyes.

"Miss Rong, should I inform Xiao Chen to take you for dical treatnt? This is the third ti a nightmare has troubled you; you must have been too imrsed in your role..."

"No need, go get a glass of water."

The woman’s voice was indifferent.

She knew that the maid, Hong Jie, cared about her.

But this was not a case of being too absorbed in her role, nor was it a dream.

It was sothing that had really happened!

She had almost been burned to death by that heartless man in the big fire!

As the maid just stepped out, the sound of an engine approached from outside.

The woman drew back the curtains to see a black Maybach parked outside.

Then she saw a man in a smoke-grey shirt step out of the car.

The man’s resolute features were as sharp as if they had been carved with a knife, his gaze sharp.

She let the curtain fall and stepped out of the bedroom.

"Miss Rong, why have you co down?"

"This has nothing to do with you. You can go rest."

She spoke with light indifference.

Having received her instructions, Hong Jie withdrew.

Not long after, footsteps approached from the distance, and the man she had just seen pushed through the entrance.

"Uncle, what brings you here today?"

The woman t the man’s eyes. He remained silent, his dark eyes gazing at her like those of an eagle.

"You seem to be quite enjoying everything that the na Rong Yanqiao has brought you."

A mocking smile played about the man’s lips.

Indeed, she was now Rong Yanqiao, the adopted daughter of the late Rong San.

The man before her was her nominal uncle and her creditor boss, Rong Qingze.

Rong Yanqiao lightly curved her lips, "Not at all, I’m always mindful of my mission. Uncle, do you believe everything the dia blows out of proportion?"

Rong Qingze did not respond, his thin lips pursed into a straight line, his dark eyes inscrutable.

The dia reported that Huo Yanshu attended a top-tier auction, acquired the precious Heart of the Ocean necklace, and t with a renowned wedding dress designer.

That evening, Huo Yanshu was photographed attending an upscale Western restaurant with the top actress Rong Yanqiao.

His task for her was not to let her easily beco Huo Yanshu’s wife and transform into a lady of a wealthy household.

Rong Yanqiao said with a smile, "Uncle, what I want is not marriage, but freedom."

She was very clear about why Rong Qingze had co to find her.

She did not love Huo Yanshu.

And Huo Yanshu had never proposed to her as the dia had reported.

Rong Qingze’s thin lips quirked into a scoff, "Have you heard the saying ’water can carry a boat, but it can also capsize it’?"

"Of course," Rong Yanqiao followed with a smile.

She understood his implied aning.

What he could give her, he could also take away.

As comfortable as she was now, he could make her just as miserable.

And the misery he could inflict on her could be doubled!

Was she living a happy and comfortable life? Not at all.

She longed for freedom, for wild dreams of salvation.

"Uncle, would you like so hangover soup?"

There was a hint of alcohol on Rong Qingze.

Rong Qingze did not respond, tacitly agreeing.

Subsequently, she entered the kitchen.

Before long, she ca out with a bowl of hangover soup.

Rong Qingze was leaning on the sofa, his legs crossed at ease on the wooden coffee table.

His eyes were lightly closed, as if he were asleep.

Rong Yanqiao approached and called him softly, "Uncle."

There was no response.

Rong Yanqiao called out again.

Rong Qingze then slowly opened his eyes, his deep gaze falling on her.

He grasped her wrist, and Rong Yanqiao sat on his lap, following his pull.

She fed him the hangover soup with a spoon.

"Uncle, tomorrow you’ll see my results."

Rong Qingze’s lips curled in mockery, "Are you saying I shouldn’t ask you?"

"That’s not it. I was going to inform you about my plan, but upon reflection, I realized you’re soone who only looks at the results. However, you are now upset."

Rong Qingze didn’t speak. She added, "I an no offense. Finish your hangover soup and get so rest early. It’s getting late."

If it weren’t for the nightmares, she wouldn’t be awake.

Rong Qingze’s gaze was bleak.

He had co on a whim, and it was already the middle of the night.

Only now did he rember her clarity.

"I’ll go to bed early; will you keep vigil?"

Rong Qingze narrowed his eyes, his long gaze resting on her.

They were already very close, and as Rong Qingze looked at her this way, Rong Yanqiao imdiately sensed the danger.
