Qin Ren, the genius of legend, the person whom they had failed to invite to their research institute several tis.
It was beyond Zhang ng's imagination to encounter him here. Zhang ng was thrilled beyond asure.
Qin Ren also hadn't anticipated seeing anyone other than his younger cousin when the call ca through. Yet, instead of her face, a bewildered youth appeared on the screen.
The smile on his face vanished instantly, replaced by a courteous but distant deanor. The swiftness with which his expression changed rivaled that of a perforr in Sichuan opera.
He inquired, "And you are?"
"I...," before he could finish his introduction, Zhouzhou hastily pushed aside the watch, unfastening it, and aid it at the computer screen, urging, "Forget about these formalities for now, eldest brother. Quickly, attend to the task at hand."
There's no ti to lose! Can't you grasp the urgency? Don't you realize what's most important right now? It's worriso, truly.
Qin Ren also sensed that sothing was amiss. Observing the content on the screen, his brows furrowed instantly.
The previous footage lingered on Zhang ng for a few seconds, and the background seed off, resembling so sort of laboratory.
Combined with Zhouzhou's words, Qin Ren's countenance turned grave imdiately. Without wasting any words, he promptly powered up the computer, his gaze fixed on the screen, his hands moving swiftly.
Zhang ng also realized the gravity of the situation.
He hastily remarked, "Let's work on this together. But we only have ten minutes left. Is that enough? If not, you should leave first, lest you fall into the hands of the pirates."
Pirates? Where on earth did Ye Lingfeng take Zhouzhou?
A crease ford on Qin Ren's forehead. His actions beca even swifter, almost leaving afterimages.
He pursed his lips, and a cold gleam flickered in his eyes behind his lenses. He calmly stated, "Five minutes will suffice."
Having said that, he paid no attention to Zhang ng, his hands working rapidly, his mind racing.
Zhang ng was still stunned by the notion of five minutes, deeming it impossible. But when the tir reached four minutes and fifty seconds, the progress bar hit 100%.
Success! He rejoiced inwardly. However, before he could fully comprehend, Qin Ren spoke again, his hands still in motion.
"Give two minutes, I'll crack the self-destruct program on the computer as well."
Crack it? Zhang ng's expression turned peculiar. Was that sothing to be taken lightly? He had spent hours trying to decrypt it, and now Qin Ren claid he could do it in two minutes?
Before he could voice his skepticism, he was abruptly interrupted by a slap to the face.
"It's done," ca the cold voice of the youth, devoid of any inflection, as if it were a mundane task. Only when speaking to Zhouzhou did a hint of emotion surface.
Qin Ren asked anxiously, "Zhouzhou, where are you? What pirates?"
Zhouzhou was about to respond when he suddenly twitched his ears, swiftly saying, "Soone's coming. Big brother, I'll talk to you later."
With that, he hung up abruptly, exchanged a glance with Ye Lingfeng, and said, "Let's go!"
Ye Lingfeng also heard it. Without hesitation, he picked up the computer with one hand and Zhang ng with the other, swiftly leaping out of the window.
The pirates on duty happened to arrive at the door. Seeing them, their expressions hardened, and they were about to open fire when Ye Lingfeng shouted, "There's..."
Before he could finish his sentence, Ye Lingfeng had already dashed forward. In the blink of an eye, he reached them, and the pirates collapsed one by one.
Zhouzhou's short legs swiftly kicked, and in no ti, all the pirates were knocked down.
Their speed was so astonishing that not a single shot was fired by the dozen or so pirates.
Zhang ng stared at the scene in disbelief. This was truly remarkable!
After dealing with them, Ye Lingfeng turned back, frowned, and said, "Zhouzhou, take him and go first. Stick to the plan and wait for at the shore. I'll deal with the remaining pirates."
This was the arrangent they had made earlier on the plane.
Zhouzhou bit her lip, eyeing his countenance with unease, relieved to see the malevolent aura dissipate.
Her heart settled a bit.
Without any hesitation, Zhouzhou nodded obediently, slipping several invisibility and protection talismans into his hand. "Dad, be careful. I'll be waiting for you to co back."
"Okay." He ruffled her hair affectionately, then handed the computer to Zhang ng. Ye Lingfeng swiftly made his way towards the gathering of pirates, gun in hand.
These pirates were like a group of pests, nauseating people every other day. He had no patience to return here again.
It would be better to send them all underground to endure the ten tortures of the underworld!
Zhang ng's heart raced as he watched, and Zhouzhou glanced at him before pulling him towards the shore.
She couldn't cause trouble for her dad. He would surely be fine.
Indeed, Ye Lingfeng's abilities were formidable, coupled with Zhouzhou's talismans, it was as if they were invincible.
In less than half an hour, they wiped out all the pirates, not even giving them a chance to retaliate.
Not a single person who attacked them could be clearly seen before they were defeated. The leader of the pirates was shot in the head, his eyes wide open in death.
After resolving everything, Ye Lingfeng found the imprisoned fishern and led them towards the shore where Zhouzhou was waiting.
As they arrived, a plane landed overhead, and Chen Tuo and the others slid down from it. They swiftly approached Ye Lingfeng, noticing the blood on him. "Boss, are you okay?"
"I'm fine. This is not mine." Ye Lingfeng shook his head. "You arrived just in ti. I'll leave the cleanup to you."
"Understood." Chen Tuo nodded, then glanced at Zhouzhou. Seeing her unhard, he breathed a sigh of relief.
Unexpectedly, the boss had involved Zhouzhou in this operation. Following his gaze, Ye Lingfeng's brows furrowed. He feared he had set a bad precedent this ti.
Sure enough, Zhouzhou ran over, circling around him twice. Seeing him unscathed, she relaxed and excitedly grabbed his hand. "Dad, when can I co out with you again? It was so much fun!"
Ye Lingfeng's brow twitched. Coldly, he said, "Don't think about it. There won't be a next ti."
Zhouzhou looked aggrieved. "Why not? Did I not do well this ti?"
No, quite the opposite. In fact, she perford admirably, even better than perfect. Zhouzhou's mystical abilities proved more effective than her martial skills.
If Zhao Xinghua had witnessed the scene just now, even threats of withdrawal wouldn't faze him.
Zhouzhou was worth every effort to win over.
However, the more so, the more Ye Lingfeng felt alard. He understood the difficulties of this profession better than Zhouzhou did.
It wasn't as simple as she thought, and not all problems could be solved with mysticism. It was the age of technology now.
Talismans like hers could render her invisible, but devices like scanners could still detect her. They weren't foolproof.
Therefore, he still disagreed.
Turning his gaze away, he wordlessly led Zhouzhou towards the plane.
After a few steps, he couldn't help but glance back at Chen Tuo and the others. Though they appeared no different from ordinary people, he knew that beneath their clothes, each of them bore scars accumulated from past missions.
And this ti, they had completed the mission more smoothly than ever.
In truth, what Zhao Xinghua said wasn't wrong. Zhouzhou was indeed very suitable for this line of work.
But what did that matter?
She didn't need to taste blood on the edge of a blade.
Silent all the way, Zhouzhou looked at his silent face and dared not make a fuss anymore. She obediently sat in her seat, pouting as she looked out the window, feeling a bit down.
Zhang ng, observing the strange atmosphere between the father and daughter, dared not speak, silently reducing his presence.
Three hours later, the plane landed, and Zhouzhou stepped off. As soon as she spotted the tall figure not far away, all her unhappiness vanished, and she quickly ran over.
"Dad!"
