"You court death!" Zhouzhou exclaid furiously, abandoning all pretense of civility. She thrust her peachwood sword towards him with sudden force.
Seeing her, Old Li was taken aback. Wasn't this the child he had seen in the cetery during the day? How had she co to be here?
But since she had arrived, she wouldn't be leaving. Old Li licked his lips, his eyes glinting with greed as he looked at Zhouzhou. She was so young, her lifespan would likely extend for decades, providing him with ample use.
With this thought, he suddenly raised his hand and threw a talisman towards Zhouzhou. Qin Xu's face tightened, and he prepared to intervene, determined not to let Zhouzhou co to harm while saving his son.
However, Qin Lie stopped him. Qin Xu turned his head in confusion, only to hear Qin Lie say, "Don't go."
"But Zhouzhou..." Qin Xu worried for Zhouzhou's safety.
"She can handle it. If we go, we'll only be a hindrance to her." From the old man's deanor, it was clear he was not ordinary.
If they approached, it would likely distract Zhouzhou. Having spent so much ti with her, Qin Lie understood this well.
Qin Xu considered this and realized Qin Lie, the one who cared most for Zhouzhou in the family, would never allow her to be hard.
Zhouzhou saw the talisman flying towards her and remained unflustered. Her chubby little hand reached into her bag, grabbed a handful of black beans, and flung them out.
The mont the talisman touched the black beans, it disintegrated into ashes as if it had t its natural predator.
How could this be? Old Li's eyes widened in shock. Before he could process it, a chubby little foot kicked his knee, sending him sprawling to the ground.
Before he could react, Zhouzhou slapped a talisman onto his hand. Instantly, Old Li was immobilized, feeling his spiritual energy dissipate rapidly. Panic seized him, and he cried out, "No!"
Zhouzhou paid him no heed. Her chubby hand rummaged through his pockets and soon found a cloth bag containing a gold bar.
The vital life force line was securely connected to it. Old Li's pupils contracted in terror, and he pleaded, "Don't!"
Don't? How could that be possible? Zhouzhou ignored him and took out a pair of scissors from her bag, swiftly cutting the connection. Old Li's vitality vanished abruptly, his complexion darkening significantly.
"Is it done?" Little Wang curiously approached and asked. Zhouzhou nodded, "He had just started targeting Third Brother, so it was still unstable. Easy to deal with."
Hearing this, Little Wang fell silent, envy flickering in her eyes. If only she had t Zhouzhou back then. She couldn't help but lower her head in lancholy.
Seeing her like this made Zhouzhou feel equally distressed. Although the villain was caught, Little Wang had long been a victim, her life irretrievable.
"Who are you talking to?" Old Li lay on the ground, his voice hoarse and weak as he asked. He rembered now, during the day at the cetery, she seed to be speaking to soone. This realization sent a chill through him. Who was it?
Hearing this, Little Wang let out a cold laugh and approached, her form gradually becoming visible before him. "It's , Old Li. Don't you rember ? You owe your prolonged life entirely to ."
"Wang... Wang?" Recognizing her, Old Li's eyes filled with terror as he looked at her. "It's ," Little Wang confird, enunciating each word. "Old Li, how have you been living on my stolen life?"
As she spoke, her hand reached for his neck, tightening slowly. Though she had no physical form, Old Li felt his throat being squeezed, his breath stifled. He stared at her in horror.
"Help... help..." he croaked, his voice dry and strained. Little Wang, as if hearing a joke, sneered, "Help? Who will save you? You old scoundrel, living on borrowed ti, and you dare cry for help?"
Her emotions surged, and her grip tightened. Old Li's eyes rolled back, his face turning ashen, barely clinging to life.
Just as he thought he was about to die, Little Wang released her hold. She rembered Zhouzhou's words – they couldn't kill him.
No matter. They had all the ti in the world to play.
"Zhouzhou, what should we do with this old man next?" soone asked.
"Naturally, he must pay for his cris with his life," Zhouzhou replied matter-of-factly.
Whether by law or by the mandate of the heavens, justice demanded such.
Qin Xu approached, taking out a pair of handcuffs to restrain Old Li.
Little Wang, curious, asked, "Can he be convicted?"
After all, borrowing life sounded too much like mysticism; who would believe it?
This question puzzled Zhouzhou. She scratched her head in confusion and looked up at Qin Xu.
Just as Qin Xu was about to speak, a group of people suddenly approached.
"Leave it to ," a voice said.
Turning towards the sound, they saw a man clad in red, his appearance striking and captivating.
His seductive eyes swept over them, a smile playing on his lips, his refined features evoking a sense of intrigue.
Zhouzhou looked up at him with wide eyes. He was extraordinarily handso.
The man stepped forward, presenting a credential to Qin Xu. After examining it, Qin Xu's brows furrowed slightly. He glanced at Zhouzhou, said nothing, and handed Old Li over to the man.
Who was this person? Zhouzhou, standing on tiptoe and craning her neck, tried to see the credential in his hand.
What kind of authority did he possess to make her second uncle comply so readily? She wanted one too.
Noticing her curiosity, the man looked at her intently. His deep, magnetic voice carried a hint of coaxing.
"Want to see?" he asked, extending a different credential towards her, not the one he had shown Qin Lie earlier.
Just as Zhouzhou reached out, a hand suddenly stopped her. Qin Lie bent down, pulling his little girl behind him, gripping her chubby hand tightly to prevent her from moving.
He cast a casual glance at the man and then turned to Qin Xu. "Let's go."
"Alright," Qin Xu nodded without further comnt.
Little Wang, excited, said, "Zhouzhou, I'm not going back. I want to scare this old man into madness!" She was vengeful by nature.
As she spoke, she felt a sudden, chilling gaze directed at her. Turning, she saw the red-clad man staring at her.
Instinctively, she moved closer to Zhouzhou, whispering, "Zhouzhou, it seems like he can see ."
Zhouzhou nodded. "It's not 'seems,' he really can."
"What?"
"He has Yin-Yang eyes," Zhouzhou said, startling everyone.
The man did not deny it. Instead, he looked at Zhouzhou, his gaze lingering on her peachwood sword, a hint of interest in his eyes. "Little girl, you have quite a talent."
"You have good talent too," Zhouzhou replied earnestly, looking up at him.
As she spoke, her gaze fell on sothing at his waist that glittered with gold, and she couldn't help but exclaim, "Oh?"
Her chubby hand reached towards the grim, darkly painted dragon and tiger shackles at her own waist, puzzled. Why did his have a skull on it?
