Bian Xiao, a little friend of five years old, started kindergarten this year.

Bian Yue was busy with work, so most of the ti, it was Shen Jinci who took on the task of picking up and dropping off the child.

Bian Xiao was very dissatisfied with this arrangent. Every ti he saw Shen Jinci, he would pout with a face as round as a milk bun, muttering discontentedly, "Why is it you again!"

Shen Jinci did not indulge the child too much, so after Bian Xiao finished his grumbling, he still had to climb into the car using his hands and feet.

Shen Jinci watched the ungrateful little brat with a cold eye, and rembering that today was Bian Xiao’s birthday, he didn’t scold the boy, only saying in an indifferent tone, "I don’t want to pick you up either. Just bear with it. When you start elentary school, I won’t have to do this anymore."

The milk bun was overjoyed at hearing this and imdiately asked, "Then can you let Mommy co to pick up!"

Shen Jinci scoffed coldly, "No."

To borrow Wen Jiao’s words, the aloof beauty was forever indifferent, with no exceptions aside from Bian Yue.

"Oh." Bian Xiao straightened up, took out a picture book from his little backpack, and, without looking up, said, "Then I want Mommy to sleep with tonight."

A vein on Shen Jinci’s forehead throbbed violently. "Bian Xiao, you are already 5 years old. You’re a big kid now!"

Bian Xiao slowly lifted his eyes, glancing at his own father, "You’re already 35, and you still want Mommy to sleep with you!"

Shen Jinci glared at that righteous little face which reminded him more and more of his own little princess Bian Yue, so as he felt his anger rise, it eventually dissipated.

He gently pinched the bridge of his nose, lightly saying, "Tonight, let Yueyue lull you to sleep."

Bian Xiao’s sulky face instantly cleared, revealing a smile with two little tiger teeth showing, "Daddy! You are really the best daddy in the whole world!"

"Don’t say sothing so against your heart." Shen Jinci said expressionlessly, "Today is your birthday. Mommy will co and celebrate with you after she finishes work."

Bian Xiao exaggeratedly exclaid ’Wow’ in a voice that was irresistibly adorable, "Then I want Mommy to sit next to ! I want Mommy to cut the cake for ! I want Mommy to feed !"

He’s really taking liberties!

Shen Jinci, in front of Bian Xiao, maintained very little of his usual composure, with a stern face said, "Can’t you eat by yourself?"

"I can’t!" The milk bun puffed his cheeks, adorably blinking his eyes, his long, thick eyelashes fluttering like little brushes, "I’m just a baby! I can’t do anything! I want Mommy to feed !"

Many of Bian Xiao’s behaviors were beyond Shen Jinci’s comprehension.

He had never talked so coquettishly in his life, and besides Bian Yue, no one had ever shown such natural coquetry in front of him.

Shen Jinci initially wanted to raise Bian Xiao into a quiet and sensible good child, but this little brat was growing more and more mischievous, already becoming a cunning little manipulator adept at exploiting his own vulnerability.

"Shut up!" Shen Jinci frowned, "Don’t talk like that in front of !"

Bian Xiao blinked and pouted pitifully, shaking Shen Jinci’s arm with his small hand, his tone sounding very innocent, "Daddy~ don’t you like Xiaoxiao anymore? Today is Xiaoxiao’s birthday, you won’t be an to Xiaoxiao! Right?"

Shen Jinci sighed and, even though his face was stern, he hugged the pudgy little tyke into his arms and patted his back, his tone a bit awkward, "Happy birthday, my little ancestor."

Bian Xiao proudly rubbed against Shen Jinci’s expensive suit, transferring all his tears and snot onto it!

Soon he would see Mommy, and Bian Xiao, the little friend, needed to ensure his image remained good and adorable!

After wiping it off, he contently leaned on Shen Jinci’s shoulder and dozed off with loud snores.

Despite Shen Jinci’s verbal discontent, he carried him all the way without putting him down once.

Xiangjiang Hotel, top-floor private room.

Wen Jiao was cracking sunflower seeds, and after finishing, she naturally spat the shells onto the tissue paper handed over by Shen Zhaoli.

She had gotten a short haircut, which made her look neat and significantly tidier. Her delicate features stood out even more, with a captivating charm that caught people’s attention at first glance.

Shen Zhaoli looked even more handso than before; ti had enriched his looks with experience without leaving a trace of age.

He was originally only 28 years old and took great care of himself, which practically preserved his youthful appearance.

"Jiaojiao, what do you feel like eating?" Shen Zhaoli looked at Wen Jiao with a smiling, gentle voice, "I’ve ordered so dishes but not sure if they are your recent favorites."

Wen Jiao’s taste had been spoiled by Wen Yongwei’s indulgence, and her pickiness about food ingredients now was astonishing.

Wen Jiao shook her head and said, "None of the als outside compare to the ones my dad makes. Let’s just eat sothing casually before we head back ho for dinner."

Shen Zhaoli’s smile deepened when he heard the word ’we’. "Sure, whatever you say."

Wen Jiao looked at Shen Zhaoli with a sowhat awkward expression, "That..."

"Hmm?"

"I’m really grateful for your help with my dad’s illness this ti."

As Wen Yongwei got older, his health had declined. This ti, his heart condition worsened; he nearly did not make it.

Shen Zhaoli knew that Wen Jiao couldn’t bear the loss of Wen Yongwei, so he went to great lengths to save his life.

"It’s okay, I’ve been busy abroad for the past few years. If it weren’t for your dad being there for you, I wouldn’t have been at ease." Shen Zhaoli’s smiling expression softened. He gazed into Wen Jiao’s eyes, voice gentle, "Jiaojiao, five years have passed, have you let go now?"

Wen Jiao paused with the sunflower seeds in her hand. She lowered her eyelids and gave a faint ’mm’, "I’ve let go."

Shen Zhaoli’s expression beca even more tender.

Five years ago, after Bian Xiao’s child’s full-moon celebration was over, Shen Zhaoli went abroad. Wen Jiao found it painful and didn’t want to face him, and he didn’t want to force her either.

A separation was good for both of them.

It was just that at that ti, nobody expected that their separation would last for 5 years.

Of course, they had t in between, but those had been fleeting encounters without in-depth conversations.

It wasn’t until this year that Wen Jiao actively called Shen Zhaoli. She said that the climate in Xiangjiang wasn’t good this year and her cough hadn’t improved.

Over the phone, Shen Zhaoli was silent for a mont before asking her, "Isn’t the family doctor I arranged for you good enough?"

Even through the phone, Shen Zhaoli could sense Wen Jiao’s slight breathlessness. She said, "The doctor is very good. Shen Zhaoli, have you finished your business?"

That day, it was raining over Nasdaq. Shen Zhaoli stood outside the banquet hall, feeling as if everything around him was dreary. He spoke with a husky voice, "Jiaojiao, do you want to co back?"

Wen Jiao said she did.

Thus, Shen Zhaoli arranged all his affairs in one night and took a flight back to Xiangjiang overnight.

He put the power to decide in Wen Jiao’s hands. So many years had passed, and finally, Wen Jiao pressed the permission button.

Shen Zhaoli didn’t want to wait another second.

He wanted to hold Wen Jiao, to tell her how much he missed her over the years.

And now, as he sat beside Wen Jiao, his fox-like eyes no longer flirtatious but full of tenderness, he heard Wen Jiao say, "Zhaoli, let’s live a good life together."
