Xie Zhang’s eyebrows were tightly knotted, and he did not relax just because of Bian Yue’s leisurely deanor. He stared at Bian Yue and said in a low voice: "Take advantage of Li Tingmo not noticing yet, Bian Yue, stop going on like this."

Bian Yue’s hand holding the wine glass paused; she drained the wine in her glass in one gulp, her eyes glinting with a cold light: "Xie Zhang, this is my own business, what right do you have to persuade here?"

"Just on the premise that we grew up together, I’ve watched you step by step get to where you are today. I know it’s not been easy for you, Bian Yue, you now have a great life. Why can’t you just let go of the past?"

But Bian Yue lowered her head, looking down from the balcony, the traffic and people below seed exceptionally tiny due to the height.

"Can you put aside all the matters of the past? Xie Zhang, don’t you have nightmares? Dreaming about Wen Jiayi jumping off the building?"

Bian Yue retracted her gaze, wishing to see Xie Zhang’s discomfiture, which she did.

Bian Yue smiled even more calmly, "You can’t completely let go either, can you?"

"I’ve told you many tis, I’ve long forgotten about it." Xie Zhang’s handso face beca ice-cold, his lips pursed and turned pale, his expression as if frozen, "Yueyue, you are no longer a child, do you know what price you will pay for digging into those past matters?"

"So, you ca over today to speak for the Li Family? But I’m already here; there’s no turning back. If I retreat any further, I’ll be haunted by nightmares every day, dreaming about the death of my parents!"

As Bian Yue spoke, her voice grew louder; she lifted her face, looking coldly at Xie Zhang, "We used to be friends. The falling out was because our stances are different, but what I didn’t expect is that even our most basic emotional perception is different."

"Feelings? Standing in this vanity fair, what feelings do you think you can have? Bian Yue, everyone is scheming against you. You think you can revive the Bian Family on your own; that’s simply a fool’s talk!" Xie Zhang took a deep breath, his voice suppressed: "I did not wish to co here today, but yesterday, at the board eting of Fengcheng Group, Li Sihe coughed up blood. Bian Yue, he doesn’t have much ti left."

Bian Yue’s expression remained cold. Seeing his face that looked as if trying to talk sense, she couldn’t help but sneer, "What, now that Li Sihe’s days are numbered, I should just pretend my parents’ deaths were an accident to let him die in peace? Reconcile with the Li Family and sing praise to world peace?"

Xie Zhang was left speechless by Bian Yue’s sharp words, and Bian Yue pointed towards the distant ground outside the balcony.

"Right now, you’re standing above the clouds, commanding the wind and summoning the rain, but do the people who fall from here deserve only to be stepping stones? They’ve died, and even if you pursue it, no one can bring them back to life, so there’s no need to seek justice?"

Bian Yue saw the shock and pain in Xie Zhang’s eyes, her voice dropping to freezing point, "I can’t do that; they were living beings who existed in my life, the most important family mbers of my life."

"Bian Yue..." Xie Zhang’s voice tinged with helplessness.

But Bian Yue had already turned her back on him, "The banquet still has a long way to go. If Young Master Xie is willing, he can go back inside for so more food and drinks. I want to be alone."

Xie Zhang looked at Bian Yue’s back, and after a mont, as if possessed, he turned his face to look down from the balcony to the vast land below.

A suffocating thought suddenly, sharply surged into his mind— Wen Jiayi diving from such a height must have been in utter despair?

This thought turned Xie Zhang’s complexion pale; he staggered backward, clutching the railing of the balcony to barely maintain composure, his breathing rapid and long struggling to calm....

Zhuang Jie Ning had drunk a lot at the celebration party. She didn’t care at all about Su Youxue’s career; as for this so-called celebration banquet, she was utterly indifferent.

But standing inside the banquet hall, the very thought of opposing Bian Yue filled her with boundless exhilaration.

Unlike Su Youxue’s silent deanor, Zhuang Jie Ning at the banquet was a social butterfly, glittering with charm in every interaction.

At this mont, tipsy, she pushed open the door of the resting room, only to freeze in the next mont.

Under the dim light, a man in formal attire exuded elegance and refinent. Lifting his gaze, he looked at her expressionlessly, his whole being radiating an aloofness that kept others at a great distance.

Zhuang Jie Ning just took one look and froze on the spot.

Shen Jinci...

Shen Jinci was actually here.

Zhuang Jie Ning’s heart thumped wildly, allowing the door to close automatically behind her.

In the calm and indifferent scrutiny of Shen Jinci, she smiled gently and said softly, "Mr. Shen, what a coincidence."

"You’ve entered the wrong room."

This was an unspoken order to leave without changing his expression.

Zhuang Jie Ning bit her lip, unwillingly gazing at Shen Jinci.

Such an opportunity was too rare, who knows when she would be able to share a room with Shen Jinci again.

Therefore, Zhuang Jie Ning put on a forced smile, walked up to Shen Jinci, and sat down.

"Sorry, Mr. Shen, I really drank a bit too much. Could you let calm down before I go?" Her eyes were watery, filled with pleading.

No man could remain unaffected by such a look, except for Shen Jinci.

Shen Jinci’s expression grew colder, his noble upbringing preventing an outburst as he simply said, "Get out."

"Mr. Shen, do you know? I’m about to get married soon, to the chairman of Fengcheng Group, Li Sihe, my fiancé." Zhuang Jie Ning laughed lightly, her voice tender, "Shouldn’t Mr. Shen complint on my good taste?"

Shen Jinci remained silent, he picked up a docunt on the side and began to read it as if no one else was present.

The smile on Zhuang Jie Ning’s face stiffened, and she scoffed coldly, "Mr. Shen isn’t interested in my affairs. What about Bian Yue’s then?"

The man’s hand holding the docunts paused, and he looked at Zhuang Jie Ning with an even colder gaze.

"You don’t need to look at like that. Bian Yue has been focusing on her career lately, Mr. Shen should know why, right? Because the Li Family is implicated in the death of Bian Yue’s parents. So tell , the three great families of Xiangjiang back then, the Bian and Li families were both involved, could the Shen Family really stay out of it?"

Zhuang Jie Ning spoke casually, and as her words ended, Shen Jinci closed the docunt.

Zhuang Jie Ning displayed a satisfied smile.

"What are you really trying to say?"

"Mr. Shen, sooner or later Bian Yue will find out that the Shen Family knew there was a problem with the contract signed by the Bian Family. After all these years, Mr. Shen, who has all the secrets of the Shen Family, don’t you know about it?"

"I really don’t know."

The smile on Zhuang Jie Ning’s face deepened, and she slowly said, "At that ti, wasn’t Mr. Shen about to take over Lixing? How could you possibly not know such a big matter?"

Shen Jinci did not feel the need to explain anything to Zhuang Jie Ning, he stood up indifferently and walked towards the door.

Zhuang Jie Ning’s eyes were red, and in the mont Shen Jinci stood up to leave, she suddenly reached out from behind and embraced him...
