Chapter 29: Bitten by a dog

“That’s not true,” Jiang Huai shook his head.

“You… are sulking with … not obedient…”

Chu Xianning’s voice was unclear whether it was resentful or aggrieved, but Jiang Huai, used to her drunken state, chose to ignore her and just led her by the hand towards the room. However, Chu Xianning seed too weak to walk and stumbled towards the ground, and Jiang Huai caught her in his arms.

Chu Xianning then closed her eyes again, seemingly about to fall asleep.

Jiang Huai looked at her snow-white cheeks, her tender lips still glistening, not sure if it was saliva from her drunken sleep.

At that mont, Jiang Huai suddenly thought of that question again: Are Petal Fairy Chu Xianning’s lips sweet?

“Master.”

“What are you doing…”

“I’m still curious if Master’s lips are sweet.”

“Do you want to die?”

“I want to try.”

Jiang Huai straightened her body a bit, his hand on her ribs. Chu Xianning’s body was indeed excessively slender and soft.

Jiang Huai’s ears began to ring, but he didn’t care what mission the system had issued. He was irritable after two sleepless hours, and now he just really wanted to see if Chu Xianning would kill him.

If you can, then kill , Chu Xianning.

The bright moonlight fell on her cool cheeks, her lips clean like petals. Jiang Huai slled the faint dark fragrance from Chu Xianning’s body, gently pulled her into his arms, and whispered softly.

“Chu Xianning, am I too greedy?”

His question went unanswered, as Chu Xianning seed about to fall asleep again. But in the next instant, Jiang Huai leaned in and gently kissed Chu Xianning’s petal-like lips.

Her lips were warm and soft, yet seed to have a hint of coldness. But when Jiang Huai pried open her teeth, her soft tongue was slippery like jelly. Chu Xianning did not respond, but she also didn’t push him away. Perhaps she was too drunk to be conscious, so Jiang Huai beca even more greedy, tasting a very faint sweetness, like the nectar of peach blossoms.

He tasted it.

Jiang Huai was satisfied, ready for Chu Xianning to kill him with one sword.

But Chu Xianning’s eyes remained closed, and her head soon rested heavily on his shoulder, as if she had fallen asleep.

So Jiang Huai carried her back to her room, gently covered her with a blanket, turned off the lights, and returned to his room.

Alright, Jiang Huai sat on the bed, starting to count down his life.

But unexpectedly, he didn’t feel any anxiety or unease from the bottom of his heart. All the previous irritations seed to disappear in an instant. Chu Xianning’s lips were so soft to kiss, her little tongue was also smooth, and her body felt just right to embrace. It turned out her lips were indeed slightly sweet, that faint sweetness seed to seep into his heart, and Jiang Huai’s mood inexplicably beca very good, all worries swept away in an instant.

Good, now it was ti to have a good sleep, and then wait for Chu Xianning to co and kill him tomorrow.

Thinking this, Jiang Huai clutched the blanket and quickly fell into a satisfied slumber.

......

The next day, in the bright spring morning, the courtyard’s peach blossoms were in full bloom.

Jiang Huai was fiddling with what he thought would be his last al in the kitchen.

For his last al, he chose to cook himself a bowl of wontons, with seaweed and fresh at filling, making six more than usual. Better to die full than hungry. When he brought the wontons to the courtyard, Luo Qingyu was already stretching there, but unexpectedly, Chu Xianning had not yet woken up.

Chu Xianning usually woke up at a fixed ti, even if she had drunk the night before, it was around this ti. But today, her room door was still closed. Jiang Huai approached her room door, about to knock gently.

The door opened, and Chu Xianning inside had already changed into a white dress, her expression as cool as ever.

Jiang Huai stood still, looking into her eyes. After a night of bravado, he now began to wonder if kneeling and begging for rcy would spare him from Chu Xianning’s wrath. Indeed, he was weak, only occasionally able to be tough.

One second, two seconds, three seconds.

They looked at each other for a full five seconds, and Chu Xianning glanced at him indifferently,

“Why are you staring at ?”

“Did Master sleep well last night?”

“Did you take back to my room?”

“Mm, Master drank too much last night.”

“Oh.”

Chu Xianning responded indifferently, then passed by him, sat at the table, looked at the bowl of wontons, picked up the soup spoon, and started eating breakfast seriously.

Jiang Huai looked back at her.

Did she have a blackout from the alcohol?

A sense of relief washed over Jiang Huai, but for so reason, a small sense of loss also erged from his heart.

It was over, he had truly beco a pushover.

Jiang Huai also returned to the table and began eating the wontons. Only then did he realize that Chu Xianning was eating the bowl he had prepared for himself, with six extra wontons. Chu Xianning wouldn’t be able to finish it, and there were six left in the bowl. Chu Xianning glanced at him, “I’m full.”

“What a waste.” Jiang Huai’s heart ached.

Chu Xianning didn’t understand the value of daily necessities; the spirit pork used for the wontons was not cheap. Tianxuan Sect didn’t raise many spirit pigs, mostly cattle, sheep, and deer, so spirit pork was naturally expensive. This bowl of wontons cost a spirit stone.

Chu Xianning gave him a sidelong glance, then lifted her bowl and poured all six remaining wontons into his bowl, “Then you eat them.”

After saying that, she stood up and walked over to sit down in the pavilion.

Jiang Huai was slightly taken aback, tilting his puzzled little head.

Could it be that his master actually rembered and was preparing to let him eat his fill before setting off?

With a heart full of trepidation, Jiang Huai finished off the wontons, not even wasting a drop of the soup. After eating, he ca to the pavilion where Chu Xianning was holding a pure white Go piece between her fingers.

The Go board was also crafted by Jiang Huai from spiritual jade, with the wood being the spiritual purple sandalwood and the stones being warm moon black jade. The entire Go board cost five hundred spirit stones, and Chu Xianning really liked the feel of the Go pieces.

But in fact, Jiang Huai didn’t particularly enjoy playing Go because he couldn’t win against Chu Xianning. He sat opposite her, picked up a black piece, and casually asked.

“Master, why did you drink alone last night without calling ?”

“Afraid of being bitten by a dog,” Chu Xianning replied indifferently.

“That’s slander,” Jiang Huai said, looking at her innocently.

“I have nothing but respect for Master.”

Chu Xianning gave him a cold glance but said no more, just focused on playing Go. Jiang Huai tried his best, even cheating by taking back moves twice, but still couldn’t beat Chu Xianning.

He and Chu Xianning had played over two thousand gas of Go, and to this day, he had only won once. That ti, Chu Xianning had seen him losing so badly she thought he might give up playing altogether, so she deliberately went easy on him.

Jiang Huai still lost. He looked at the Go board in frustration, then gathered the pieces back up, undaunted.

“Let’s play again!”

Chu Xianning gave him a faint look and started the next ga.

Luo Qingyu appeared beside Jiang Huai at so point, watching him play Go obediently, occasionally giving him a pointer or two, but even so, Jiang Huai was soundly defeated by Chu Xianning.

Jiang Huai put down the Go piece in annoyance.

“I’m not playing anymore!”

“Oh,” Chu Xianning responded indifferently.

So Jiang Huai went back to the kitchen to prepare lunch. He had to stew the pig’s trotters soup for a while.

.......

Until after lunch, Chu Xianning didn’t ntion anything about last night again, and Jiang Huai’s uneasy heart finally settled down. It seed that his master really didn’t rember what happened last night. But every ti he thought about it, he couldn’t help but savor the mory of Chu Xianning’s warm and slightly sweet lips, so his eyes kept drifting to her face from ti to ti, although Chu Xianning’s gaze remained cold and indifferent.

Even the cold Chu Xianning had soft lips when kissed.

Chu Xianning sat on the lounge chair Jiang Huai had made for her, basking in the sun. Her ankles, visible beneath her white dress, were snow-white and delicate, and feet, bathed in sunlight, looked even more exquisite and polished.

Luo Qingyu and Jiang Huai were also lying on lounge chairs, finding basking in the sun to be blissful.

Jiang Huai began to secretly watch Chu Xianning’s profile again. After so many years, he still couldn’t beco immune to her beauty.

How could she be so pretty? It was just too much!

Luo Qingyu lay beside him, quietly watching Jiang Huai as he stealthily gazed at Chu Xianning, looking like a forlorn little cat.

After lying there for a while, Jiang Huai turned his head to look at Luo Qingyu, saw her wistful eyes, and opened his arms,

“Co here.”

Luo Qingyu was startled, then quickly got up from her chair and sat down in Jiang Huai’s lap. Jiang Huai gently wrapped his arms around her waist and murmured softly,

“Be gentle.”

“Qingyu isn’t heavy.”

Luo Qingyu’s waist was soft and comfortable to touch. She shifted her bottom to find a more comfortable position on his lap, but this movent made Jiang Huai feel uneasy.

“Brother Jiang Huai…”

“Yes?”

“Sothing is poking …”

“There’s nothing,” Jiang Huai quickly covered Luo Qingyu’s mouth with his hand.

“Nothing at all!”

“Mmm…”

Luo Qingyu couldn’t speak, so she shifted her bottom again, but no matter how she moved, she felt sothing poking her. As soon as Jiang Huai let go of her mouth, she murmured in a wronged tone.

“There really is sothing…”

“Just sit still, it’ll be gone in a mont.”

“Okay.”

Luo Qingyu obediently nodded, holding onto Jiang Huai’s hand that was wrapped around her waist, and comfortably leaned against him. Her legs lifted and swayed gently.

Chu Xianning stood up, no longer paying attention to Jiang Huai and Luo Qingyu, and returned to her room for a nap.

......

Chu Xianning’s room was simply decorated. She sat at the desk and took out a thick notebook from the cabinet.

Having lived for six hundred years, the longer she lived, the easier it was to forget past events, so she always had the habit of keeping a diary. Chu Xianning silently recorded what she had eaten that morning and at noon. Her gaze remained calm until she thought of sothing and flipped to the previous page, silently adding four words to yesterday’s diary entry.

“Bitten by a dog.” (TLN: Referring to the kiss.)
