Chapter 126: No laughing

Outside the bathhouse.

There was a cloth curtain outside the bathhouse. Perhaps it was the sound of Jiang Huai’s footsteps approaching. A light call ca from inside the bathhouse.

“Who is it?”

“It’s , I’m back,” Jiang Huai replied softly.

After a mont, Wen Wanwan’s voice rose slightly from inside, “Senior Brother Jiang Huai, co in.”

Jiang Huai, standing outside the door, hesitated for a mont.

Luo Qingyu hadn’t really asked him to draw a clear line with Wen Wanwan, but now he felt strangely uneasy. Yet, if he hesitated too long, Wen Wanwan, with her sensitive mind, might notice sothing. After only seven or eight breaths, Wen Wanwan’s voice ca again.

“Wanwan is dressed now.”

So Jiang Huai lifted the curtain and entered. Wen Wanwan was standing by the bathhouse, having just tied the sash of her clean Taoist robe. Her gown was still a bit disheveled, so she imdiately reached out to straighten her collar.

Jiang Huai approached her, and Wen Wanwan looked up at him. But after a mont, her eyes showed concern as her fingertips gently touched his cheek.

“Senior Brother Jiang Huai looks so pale.”

“I just didn’t sleep well last night. I’ll sleep more later.”

Jiang Huai gently caught her wrist, thought for a mont, and asked, “How have you been recently?”

“Master Chu taught a lot. Wanwan learned ‘Slashing the Mist’ and ‘Moon Gazing.’ The dicine shop took a lot of orders, earning a total of twelve thousand four hundred spirit stones, all here.”

Wen Wanwan said, hastily taking out all the spirit stone notes and handing them to Jiang Huai.

Jiang Huai casually took three thousand spirit stone notes and handed them to Wen Wanwan. After a mont’s hesitation, she said softly,

“Senior Brother Jiang Huai, I still have a lot of spirit stones you gave before. It’s enough for cultivation.”

“Keep it on you for ergencies. I don’t need that many anyway.”

Jiang Huai still stuffed the spirit stone notes into Wen Wanwan’s palm, so she couldn’t refuse any longer. The two looked at each other again, but were at a loss for words.

Jiang Huai seed to sense a trace of unease in Wen Wanwan’s eyes.

He couldn’t be sure if it was just his imagination, but he always trusted his instincts. So he moved closer, looking into Wen Wanwan’s eyes.

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing...”

Wen Wanwan shook her head gently, but then asked softly, “Senior Brother Jiang Huai, are you going to bathe?”

“Mm.”

Wen Wanwan fell silent for a second or two, but the words “Do you want Wanwan to help you bathe, Senior Brother Jiang Huai?” couldn’t quite co out. It wasn’t out of shyness... Perhaps she was overthinking, but the ten or so seconds Jiang Huai stood outside the bathhouse made her feel inexplicably uneasy. So she said softly,

“Then... shall Wanwan wait outside for Senior Brother Jiang Huai?”

“Mm, okay.”

Jiang Huai watched Wen Wanwan nod lightly and pass by him. He turned to look at her slender back, feeling that her silhouette seed inexplicably forlorn as if he had done sothing wrong.

After a mont, he suddenly spoke, “Wait...”

Wen Wanwan turned around.

Jiang Huai approached her again, looking into her eyes.

“I kept thinking about Junior Sister Wanwan while I was down the mountain. Now that I’m back, I want to hug you.”

The unease in Wen Wanwan’s eyes vanished in an instant. She approached Jiang Huai and obediently extended her arms. The next second, Jiang Huai gently embraced her.

Jiang Huai slightly bowed his head, the girl’s lips were within reach. He hesitated for only half a breath before leaning in and gently kissing her lips. According to Wen Wanwan’s counterattack law, the next second Wen Wanwan leaned in, and their lips t again. The heat of the sumr surrounded them, their embrace was sowhat scorching, but it seed insignificant compared to the girl’s wildly beating fiery heart.

Jiang Huai’s hand, which was wrapped around her waist, inadvertently slid down a bit. During Wen Wanwan’s excessive kissing and seeking, he gently pinched her soft behind. Wen Wanwan’s body trembled for a mont, then she obediently backed off and looked up at him.

“Jiang Huai Senior Brother...”

“Hmm?”

“Would you like Wanwan to help you bathe...”

“Our master is in the yard, it wouldn’t be good if she found out,” Jiang Huai responded guiltily.

So Wen Wanwan obediently nodded, but monts later, she whispered in Jiang Huai’s ear.

“Then... next ti you can co to Wanwan’s yard.”

“Alright, alright.”

Jiang Huai released his hold, and Wen Wanwan stepped away from his embrace, continuing towards the outside of the bathhouse. The girl’s waist seed to straighten a bit more at this mont.

Only then did Jiang Huai take off his clothes and imrse his entire body in the bath. Several bubbles surfaced as he soaked for a while before moving to the edge of the pool, looking up at the intermittently bright and dark clouds in the sky.

To extend a hand to two girls is to be a scoundrel and a bastard, but if you’ve already extended a hand to one girl, and when she wants to hold on to you, to rely on you, and you think of withdrawing your hand... that’s even worse than being a scoundrel!

Jiang Huai quickly dressed and returned to the courtyard. He had many things to attend to and hadn’t yet reported his experiences in the secret realm to Chu Xianning. Instead, he looked at Wen Wanwan sitting quietly to the side and blinked at her.

“Wanwan, accompany to the dicine shop? I need to buy so suitable spiritual dicine.”

Wen Wanwan stood up, her steps light, and ca to his side. After leaving the courtyard, Jiang Huai gently took her hand. Wen Wanwan’s shoulders trembled slightly, and a smile seed to unconsciously appear between her brows.

She also held Jiang Huai’s hand very tightly as if afraid he would let go the next second.

......

In the dicine shop, the sa elders were present. Elder Fang, upon seeing them arrive together, greeted them with a smile.

“You are finally back. I’ve encountered a small bottleneck in alchemy recently and wanted to discuss it with you.”

“Go ahead.”

Knowing Jiang Huai’s aversion to hassle, Elder Fang had already written down the problems in a notebook and handed it to Jiang Huai. After a brief consideration, Jiang Huai picked up an ink brush and wrote down the solutions on paper, then smiled at Elder Fang.

“Three thousand spirit stones isn’t too much, is it?”

Elder Fang was caught between laughter and tears, “Alright, alright, pick whatever dicinal ingredients you want.”

Jiang Huai’s asking price was indeed not excessive. Elder Fang was an Earth-grade alchemist, and if he had to ask those Heavenly-grade senior alchemists for help with these problems, a tribute of five thousand spirit stones would be considered little, and they might not even provide answers as good as Jiang Huai’s.

Jiang Huai wrote another prescription, this one for auxiliary dicinal ingredients to refine the Dragon Blood Spirit Flower for his master. Then he casually wrote a few ingredients on another prescription.

Elder Fang looked at the prescription for several seconds, then looked up at Jiang Huai and couldn’t help but burst into laughter.

“Don’t laugh! If you laugh again, I won’t teach you next ti,” Jiang Huai said with a deadpan look.

Elder Fang laughed so hard he couldn’t straighten up, then went to get the spiritual dicine for Jiang Huai. Wen Wanwan, sitting beside Jiang Huai, looked puzzled.

“What is Elder Fang laughing about?”

Jiang Huai’s mouth twitched slightly, “Because the second prescription was for so body-nourishing dicinal ingredients, just a small tonic.”

“Body-nourishing?” Wen Wanwan was still confused.

“The other day, I was at Qingxuan Sect, and I stayed up a bit late at night with Qingyu...” Jiang Huai responded sowhat guiltily.

Wen Wanwan blushed slightly when she understood Jiang Huai’s aning and nodded, “I see.”

There seed to be a tiny bit of awkwardness.

But fortunately, Wen Wanwan still looked calm and sat quietly without saying anything more. Soon, Elder Fang brought back the dicine, and Jiang Huai thanked him before walking back to the courtyard with Wen Wanwan, hand in hand.

......

Back in the courtyard.

Jiang Huai took out his alchemy furnace, laid out the spirit stones, and began refining dicine. The Dragon Blood Spirit Flower needed to be refined for a while, probably until evening. Jiang Huai watched the temperature of the spirit stone array. He would normally not bother with ordinary pills, but this one was for his master and was very important.

Wen Wanwan sat beside him, and they both sat in the bamboo forest, where the shadows of the bamboo were dense, and the wind rustled the leaves. Sitting side by side on the bench, Jiang Huai thought for a mont, “This ti in the secret realm was quite interesting, do you want to hear about it?”

Wen Wanwan imdiately nodded vigorously, her eyes bright.

So Jiang Huai began to tell her about his experiences in the secret realm, starting with his encounter with the seriously injured Bai Li.

Jiang Huai couldn’t quite explain why, perhaps because Wen Wanwan was completely unguarded around him, or maybe because she was just too accommodating, never asking for too much. So Jiang Huai’s story wasn’t a brief version; he told Wen Wanwan everything that happened in the secret realm, including the marriage arrangent with Luo Qingyu, the argunt in the bathhouse that night, and what happened afterward, without any concealnt.

Wen Wanwan just listened, never interrupting Jiang Huai. When his story was finished, he looked up at Wen Wanwan and said.

“Well, that’s pretty much what happened recently.”

Wen Wanwan’s eyes t his, shining brightly. She felt strangely reassured that Jiang Huai was willing to share these things with her. A smile appeared in her eyes, and she reached out to pinch Jiang Huai’s face playfully, her voice carrying a hint of mischief.

“No wonder Jiang Huai Senior Brother needs to nourish his body well.”

Now it was Jiang Huai’s turn to feel a little embarrassed.

The Immaculate Golden Body was indeed strong, but without spiritual energy to nourish the body, sothing was missing. Wen Wanwan gently held Jiang Huai’s hand, her voice very soft.

“Then, there... does it hurt?”

“Hmm?”

“I an, the way Jiang Huai Senior Brother... bullied Qingyu...”

“Qingyu said it didn’t hurt, but I think it might still be a bit... maybe it’s different for everyone?”

Why are we now seriously discussing such a strange topic?

Wen Wanwan’s hand was warm, and she leaned slightly closer to Jiang Huai. After a little while, she whispered very softly.

“When Jiang Huai Senior Brother has recovered, if, if you want to... Wanwan... can too.”

Jiang Huai turned to look at Wen Wanwan, her cheeks flushed as if they were about to drip water.

Jiang Huai was a bit surprised, his voice revealing a touch of incredulity, “Wanwan Junior Sister can actually say such embarrassing things.”

Wen Wanwan moved closer, gripping his hand tighter.

“In front of Jiang Huai Senior Brother... Wanwan can also be... a shaless woman... you mustn’t laugh!”
