Zoe Lewis didn’t mind at all: "You’ve raised Ryker very well. He’s so outstanding that he’s even beco the secretary to the president of Star Region Group. You have no idea how extrely difficult it is to get that position; the president is very strict and picky."
Anyway, if it were her, even after five hundred more years of training, Harry Hunter still wouldn’t consider her; there was no way he would use her as a secretary.
Mrs. Zuo loved hearing others praise her son.
She could say her son wasn’t good, but if others said it, she would get upset.
She thought Zoe was very articulate and emotionally intelligent.
"Later on, I sold the house I brought as a dowry and bought a mine for his father. Our family started mining ourselves, and only then did life improve. But Ryker never changed his habit; he still likes digging coal, especially when he’s in a bad mood. He’ll keep digging until you pull him out from the mine underground; otherwise, he won’t co out."
"He likes it that much?"
"Yes, it even beca a sort of illness later on. He’d feel uncomfortable if he didn’t dig coal every day. We tried all sorts of thods, even hired a psychiatrist for him, but nothing worked. We finally had to move, relocate to A City, a place without coal mines, and only then did he gradually break this habit. He doesn’t dig coal anymore, so don’t worry."
Zoe had previously teased Ryker about this coal-digging habit, never realizing his situation was so severe that it wasn’t a joking matter at all!
Zoe felt quite bad; it was the first ti that digging up soone else’s secrets made her sad.
She should be nicer to him from now on.
Zoe stayed at the Zuo family ho for an entire afternoon. With her skills, she quickly beca acquainted with Mr. and Mrs. Zuo, diligently helped with selecting vegetables and cooking, sweet-talking all the while with modesty. Mrs. Zuo almost wished her son could marry her the very next day.
"Little Zoe, you can cook!"
Mrs. Zuo was extrely surprised; she couldn’t cook a single dish herself. She had married down to the penniless Mr. Zuo Million, who spoiled her and never let her lift a finger.
She knew very well how wonderful it is to have soone at ho who can cook.
Although they had help now and didn’t really need a daughter-in-law to cook, it still delighted her that Zoe had such good culinary skills.
At 5:30 PM, Ryker ca ho from work, and dinner was already prepared, just waiting for him to eat.
Seeing Zoe at the dinner table at ho, he was stunned for a mont before nodding to her.
He thought he had made her cry, and she wouldn’t co to the Zuo ho today.
Mrs. Zuo was getting anxious watching from the side and pulled Ryker over: "Hurry and wash your hands; two of the dishes were made by Little Zoe herself!"
Ryker slightly frowned: "Why did you have her cook?" There was no reason to have a guest cook at their house.
Mrs. Zuo was very pleased and thought her son was finally getting it; he actually knew how to care for soone!
"Next ti, I absolutely won’t let her. I was just curious for a mont and let Little Zoe make two dishes. Mom cares for your wife, don’t worry!"
Ryker’s face darkened. Whose wife?! How did she beco a wife?
"Mom, I’ve already told you, we’re just friends!"
"When are you two going to tie the knot?"
"What are you talking about? There’s no such thing!"
"I think the sooner, the better. How about Wednesday?"
Ryker was at his wit’s end with her. Wasn’t Wednesday tomorrow?
What exactly did Zoe say to her, making her so eager to bring Zoe into the family!
