What’s it like to be in the middle of a passionate encounter with a man you just t, only to get an unexpected call from the ex you dated for seven years?

Moira Sloan was in the perfect position to answer that question.

First, the psychological pressure was imnse.

Second, it was a huge turn-on.

The mont she heard the na "Shane Jennings," Moira Sloan’s body tensed up instantly.

Just as Moira’s whole body went from taut to relaxed, Connor Quinn happened to hang up the phone.

He put down his phone and kissed her, one hand braced on the bathroom counter, the other wrapped around her slender waist.

It was a mont of lingering affection.

Afterward, Connor Quinn carried Moira to the shower.

Standing under the shower, Moira watched him, still impeccably dressed. A surge of indignation rose within her. She crossed her arms, looking at him haughtily. "Why don’t you take your clothes off?"

Connor Quinn lowered his gaze and quirked an eyebrow. "Are you sure you want to?"

Moira put on the air of a heartbreaker, scoffing, "Is there any part of you I haven’t seen?"

Connor Quinn replied, "Did you bring the ointnt?"

He’d struck a nerve. With the truth on his side, she had no coback, and her cheeks flushed red with indignation.

When Connor Quinn carried her out of the bathroom, Moira’s face was a mask of displeasure.

She let him blow-dry her hair and help her into her dress, too lazy to lift a single finger.

Her expression only softened slightly after he had gotten her settled and carried her over to the sofa.

A few minutes later, she was curled up on the sofa playing a ga on her phone. She glanced up and saw Connor Quinn standing by the window, drinking water. In the sunlight, the man’s features were strong and sharply defined...

Not the handso, pretty-boy type.

But the intimidating, raw-testosterone kind of handso.

Moira stared, srized. Her mind drifted, and a question suddenly occurred to her.

’Was a big part of the reason I chose Connor Quinn in the first place because of that face of his?’

’Tsk. Of course it was.’

’Lust really does make fools of everyone, n and won alike.’

As Moira’s train of thought ended and she ca back to her senses, she saw Connor put down his water bottle and step into the bathroom. A mont later, he walked out holding the long dress she had just taken off. "Hand-wash?" he asked in a low voice.

Moira raised an eyebrow. "You?"

Connor Quinn replied, "Yeah."

Moira lifted her chin, her deanor a mix of coy and languid. Even though she was the one who needed the favor, she acted as if she were granting him a great boon. "Hand-wash it."

"Yeah," Connor said.

A mont later, Connor turned and went back into the bathroom, and the sound of running water filled the air.

Hearing the sound, Moira sank deeper into the sofa. A certain corner of her heart felt...ticklish and restless.

It was like a dandelion seed had landed there for no reason at all.

Leaving no mark, yet leaving a mark all the sa.

More than ten minutes later, Connor erged from the bathroom with a cigarette dangling from the corner of his mouth, the freshly washed dress in his hand.

Moira looked up at the sound, and the sight that t her eyes was the very picture of a ’gentle brute.’

’What woman could resist such a mont of vanity?’

’To be cherished, pampered, and spoiled.’

’Especially when it ca from a man who was so obviously cold and unapproachable, and the little bit of tenderness he showed was reserved for you and you alone.’

Watching the scene before her, Moira narrowed her eyes slightly, then averted her gaze and went back to focusing on her ga.

Connor Quinn received another call from the Jennings family just before noon.

This ti, the call wasn’t from Shane Jennings, but from Master Jennings.

The call connected, and Master Jennings’s voice ca through the phone, naturally authoritative. "You’re back in town, but you’re not staying at ho. What’s this about staying in a hotel? What would people say if word of this got out?"

Connor Quinn’s voice was level. "It’s not convenient."

"What’s not convenient about it?" Master Jennings demanded, his voice laced with displeasure.

"I brought my girlfriend," Connor said.

Hearing that Connor Quinn had brought a girlfriend, Master Jennings’s anger subsided slightly. "Then bring her back with you. What’s the problem? Is this girlfriend of yours soone you stole from another man, soone who can’t be seen in public?"
