It was more than just suspicious.

Lillian Kidd finished speaking, but when she heard no response from Moira Sloan, she started sobbing and sniffling again. "Moira, what do you think I should do now..."

’I have so thoughts,’ Moira Sloan thought, but she didn’t voice them to Lillian Kidd. She cald her own emotions first. "Lillian, what evidence did that private investigator give you that makes you so convinced Finn Fuller is the one who killed my master?"

Lillian Kidd said, "Your master t with Finn Fuller shortly before he passed away. First, Finn begged your master to let him back into the fold. Second, he wanted your master to act as a go-between and produce a batch of lacquerware for a foreign company. Your master refused..."

Moira Sloan’s brow furrowed at her words. "How co I didn’t know about this?"

Lillian Kidd replied, "You were at your martial uncle’s place at the ti. Your master told not to tell you."

Moira Sloan said, "And then what? You can’t be sure he’s the killer just because he t with my master once."

Lillian Kidd said through her tears, "I don’t want to accept this fact either, but too many clues point to him."

As she spoke, Lillian Kidd paused, consud by her crying. After a long sob, she sniffled and continued, "Not long after he t with your master, your master passed away. Then, right after that, The Premier Pavilion received foreign investnt, and five million appeared in Finn Fuller’s personal account..."

Moira Sloan was silent.

When you put together everything Lillian Kidd had said, Finn Fuller was indeed highly suspicious.

But for so reason, Moira Sloan couldn’t shake the feeling that sothing was off.

She couldn’t quite put her finger on what the problem was.

Moira Sloan mulled it over for a mont, then decided to trust her sixth sense. "Lillian, this matter needs further investigation."

Lillian Kidd pleaded, "Moira, you absolutely must avenge your master."

"I will," Moira Sloan replied.

After hanging up with Lillian Kidd, Moira Sloan leaned against the headboard, lost in thought.

She replayed everything Lillian Kidd had just told her, turning it over in her mind.

Finally, she took a deep breath.

’I think I know what the problem is.’

’First, there’s Finn Fuller. If he really did this, all his actions, before and after, have been far too high-profile. He shouldn’t be that stupid.’

’Second, there’s Lillian’s attitude.’

As far as Moira Sloan knew, Lillian Kidd had never been an impulsive person.

But this ti, she was adamant that Finn Fuller was involved based on just a few scraps of information. It really didn’t fit her character.

Of course, there was another possibility: Lillian Kidd was just overly anxious.

After all, it had been so long since Kain Alden’s death, and the police still hadn’t produced any results from their investigation.

It was normal for her to be impatient.

’But...’

Just as Moira Sloan was thinking, a knock on the bedroom door from outside interrupted her thoughts.

"Are you up?"

Connor Quinn’s low, deep voice sounded from outside the door.

Moira Sloan took a shallow breath and answered, "Yeah."

Connor Quinn said, "Breakfast is ready."

"Okay," Moira Sloan agreed.

After speaking with Connor Quinn, Moira Sloan composed herself, got out of bed, and left the room.

As she ca out of the bedroom, she gathered her hair and headed for the bathroom.

Passing by the dining room, the corner of her mouth twitched involuntarily when she saw the lavish breakfast spread on the table.

’I’m already so fat, and he’s still trying to fatten up.’

’The ’malice’ of his intentions was plain to see.’

Coming out of the bathroom, Moira Sloan sat at the dining table and cautiously served herself a small bowl of congee, deliberately ignoring the sweet buns and other pastries.

Seeing this, Connor Quinn raised an eyebrow. "Not eating?"

"Not hungry," Moira Sloan said stubbornly.

Connor Quinn asked, "Not even the side dishes?"

"Don’t really have an appetite," Moira Sloan said listlessly.

Connor Quinn frowned. "Are you not feeling well?"

Seeing the concern in his eyes, Moira Sloan teased, "Boss Quinn, are you maybe a little *too* concerned about ?"

After she spoke, Moira Sloan scooped up a spoonful of congee and put it in her mouth.

With just one bite, her taste buds were instantly captivated.

Moira Sloan lifted her gaze to Connor Quinn. "Seafood congee?"

"Mhm. Do you like it?"

Moira Sloan bit her spoon and replied with a distinct lack of backbone, "I love it."

She swore to herself that she had originally intended to eat only one small bowl.

But plans never go as expected. In the end, she ate two whole bowls.

Two heaping bowls, at that.

After the al, filled with ’deep regret,’ Moira Sloan sat in Connor Quinn’s car on the way to her shop.

On the way, she bit her fingertips, reflecting on her behavior at the breakfast table, utterly disappointed in herself.

When the car arrived at the shop’s entrance, Moira Sloan gave Connor Quinn a perfunctory peck on the cheek, then pushed the door open and got out.

The mont she got out, Connor Quinn picked up the phone he had tossed on the center console and made a call.

The ringback tone played for a mont before the call connected.

Connor Quinn asked in a cold voice, "Did you leak the information to my master’s wife? What was her reaction?"
