Fang Huai was stuck.

"This matter... can’t you just decide on it? Why hold a eting?"

Upon further thought, Political Commissar Wu probably took advantage of the situation to bring up his promise of exceptional promotion in a legitimate and formal way during the eting, but Fang Huai had originally planned to discuss this with Boss Wu after returning, and to negotiate a bit more.

After all, he had already been promoted once during school, and getting another promotion when he returned would not be suitable for public announcent.

But now that it had been brought up in a eting, and it was a decision made by the party committee, if he didn’t speak up now and the opposition set his promotion to a Regular Company, which was recorded in the eting minutes, how could he be promoted from Regular Company to Regular Company later on?

"Uh... Political Commissar, regarding my situation at the school, I recently worked on a research topic and also had so system developnt cooperation. The school leadership had spoken to before... Based on my performance, they might grade my rank at the level of Regular Company upon graduation."

This statent once again led to silence.

The other side must be very quiet; Fang Huai could even hear soone secretly coughing.

The eting hall, thousands of miles away, was indeed a bit awkward at the mont.

For Cadres at the company level, Detachnt-level units can appoint and dismiss them.

But for battalion level, approval from the Ministry is required.

Under normal circumstances, the appointnt and dismissal of battalion-level Cadres are still decided by the whole corps as long as it is reported up; only when it reaches the level of brigade Cadres does the Ministry conduct a real review process along with relevant organizational job training.

But, a 20-year-old Regular Company, to be promoted to deputy battalion?

If they reported this... it would probably be the first ti the General Office would call to inquire about a battalion-level appointnt, wouldn’t it?

Fang Huai had not been a Cadre in his previous life, and though he was familiar with the Orders, he too thought that in practice it was just a matter of the Leadership’s word. He never expected this issue could trouble the whole corps leaders.

"Hmm... Little Fang," Political Commissar Wu paused to consider, since he had raised the issue of promotion, he couldn’t treat it as a joke. This was his first eting since being appointed secretary, and even though it wasn’t a party committee eting, all the mbers were present. Moreover, one of the topics of today’s eting was to start the "Learn from Fang Huai" campaign. This promotion decision had a comndatory nature to it.

After pondering for a mont with his hands propped on the table, he spoke up:

"Is the school certain about promoting you?"

"Reporting to the Political Commissar, they should be."

"It’s not because of this recent award of rit, is it?"

"Reporting, no! It was from matters before the award, and I only learned about the August First dal during the eting."

"Hmm... then you should ask the school to report clearly the reasons for your promotion, and don’t ntion this August First dal."

Upon hearing this, a great weight lifted from Fang Huai’s heart.

The leaders had spoken, so there should be no problem!

"Yes! Political Commissar!"

But Political Commissar Wu had more to say.

"Also, your promotion needs to be postponed for half a year. After you receive your rank, work in the Detachnt for a while, go to... the Political Office, and then to Fire Prevention."

Fang Huai was anxious now.

"Reporting to the Political Commissar! I can’t leave! I’m still waiting to hand in a perfect report card for the Second Squadron’s reform to the whole corps!"

Zhang Zhongting finally spoke: "Impetuous, listen to the Political Commissar. It’s for your own good!"

Of course, Fang Huai knew it was for his benefit. His military age couldn’t be lengthened in a short period, so he had to find ways to enhance his experience through resu-building, with roles in the Political Office and Fire Prevention Office representing two work directions apart from combat training. Rotating him through these would an adding two more lines to his file, indicating his experience with in-field position changes, sothing even a fool would know was intended to nurture him.

But the grassroots was where his driving force for work lay. Without police dispatch and martial arts competitions, where would he get his military rit value from?

"Political Commissar, I just want to work at the grassroots level!"

Zhang Zhongting, hearing his stubborn nephew’s words, clenched his teeth: "Obey the order!"

As Fang Huai heard these four words, his fire was instantly extinguished, as if cold water had been poured over his heart.

But Political Commissar Wu’s voice continued to reach him.

"The work of the Second Squadron is indispensable to you. The whole corps does not want to see such an outstanding grassroots cadre just being tucked away in the governnt agency. So, let’s do this: you won’t take a post in the Political Office, just shadow there for half a year while continuing to work in the Squadron, then go to the Fire Prevention Office and work solidly for a few months. Six months in each departnt on your resu, and then we’ll let you return to the Squadron.

However, Little Fang, in the blink of an eye, you are transitioning towards the position of battalion-level cadre. Have you adjusted your mindset accordingly?

A revolutionary soldier is like a piece of brick, moved wherever needed without bargaining. With your achievents, do you really plan to work at the grassroots level for a lifeti? You are smart, but don’t limit your view. In the future, there are even more places waiting for your contribution."

Before he could finish speaking, Fang Huai was already grinning cheerfully.

As long as I accrue enough military rit value, I wouldn’t mind you promoting to Deputy Corps Captain, equal in rank to my uncle!

"Yes, Political Commissar! I’m young and full of energy! Just let work at the grassroots level for a few more years! The food at the Second Squadron is much tastier than that of the Detachnt!"

"Hahaha..."

This comnt elicited laughter in the whole corps eting hall.

Although revolutionary soldiers should not seek pleasure, comparing food with power made the leaders appreciate the simplicity of this young man.

Even General Luo couldn’t help but laugh:

"It seems, to get you to the agency, we would have to replace your cooks in advance!

Fang Huai was instantly horrified: "No, no, no, Corps Captain, I still have to go to Fire Prevention. If the squad leader of the Detachnt’s Cooking Squad hears this, I won’t even be able to get food in the future!"

"Haha..."

Another round of laughter ensued.

Zhang Zhongting was getting impatient with the young man’s slick talking, but knowing he was satisfied as he started making jokes, he then directly addressed the phone:
