This afternoon’s training included individual horizontal climbing and group high-altitude mountain rescue drills.

All were practiced on the training base’s rescue platform.

The group events were not that serious, really, the individual events were the real tough ones.

They were called the Ironman Quadrathlon.

Four hundred ters of supplies evacuation, a 100-ter sprint with a 32-pound barrel, another 100-ter dash, a 100-ter run with a 30-pound liquefied gas cylinder, carrying a 120-pound dummy for 50 ters, then a final 50-ter sprint.

This event has been a long-standing challenge, the pain of all firefighters.

Horizontal climbing, barehanded ascent up a 9-ter-high rock wall, after reaching the summit, imdiate connection to the traverse rope, crossing over to the rescue platform 30 ters away, securing the rappel rope, descending to the ground using the quick drop thod, and sprinting across the finish line.

The crossing thod was the sa hand-and-foot technique Fang Huai demonstrated on CCTV.

The breaching technique involved climbing a large rope up to the eighth floor, not the usual four floors or 12 ters, but approximately 22 ters, then rappelling down to the ground. With hands numb from climbing, you cut the wire on a light bulb, then pick up beer bottles of different sizes and place ping-pong balls inside.

This event is part of the World Firefighter Gas, but Chinese Firefighting thought it wasn’t tough enough, converting the original four-floor rope climb into an eight-floor climb.

The usual performances of picking up beer bottles and cutting wires are child’s play for them; they add a 24-ter rope climb and a seated rappel before getting to that.

The last one was a relief.

The Firefighter Ironman Competition, known as the "Minor Ironman Quadrathlon."

It consisted of four sub-events: firefighting obstacle, hose laying, comprehensive skills, and climbing floors, all completed in succession.

"Firefighting obstacle" included several smaller events, among which one required hamring a tal disk in a confined space, jokingly referred to as "iron striking." After striking iron, one had to carry a 30-pound bucket through a cage, run back, and then carry a dummy for another lap, followed by surmounting a three-ter barrier and jumping down.

Load-bearing climbing needs no introduction, still a traditional event here, treated just as a minor event.

In terms of physical exertion, just the "Minor Quadrathlon" was equivalent to four rounds of four hundred ters of supplies evacuation combined, with no rest allowed in between.

Firefighters, upon hearing this, could not help but swallow hard.

Within the Ironman Quadrathlon, there is the "Minor Quadrathlon," and within the "Minor Quadrathlon," there are "Sub-Quadrathlons."

You do not need a knife to kill a man, just put him through the Ironman Quadrathlon.

There had been fierce competitors in the Grand Martial Arts Competition who, just after one round of the Ironman Quadrathlon, ended up with broken backs.

In later tis, there were no lack of tough events, like "Extre Crossing," which is a Pro max version of the four hundred ters of supplies evacuation. You had to wear a full set of combat uniform, carry an air tank along with the breathing apparatus, and many people ended up vomiting their last al into the mask, only to be forced to swallow it again.

But, when you ntion the "Ironman Quadrathlon," the new firefighters could only admit defeat, applauding while saying, "Old firefighters are aweso."

The four hundred ters of obstacle drills that make soldiers of the People’s Liberation Army and the People’s Ard Police complain bitterly seem like child’s play compared to this event. Honestly, they’re just a little brother.

No, a little younger brother.

This event wasn’t designed for the average soldier; if one wasn’t one in a hundred kind of brave, they shouldn’t even think about trying it.

Try it and you’re a goner.

Since the "Forging of the Ministry of Public Security Firefighting Iron Army" in 2010, this event had been intensely trained. After hamring for three years, the Ironman Quadrathlon was split into three events by 2013.

The breaching technique’s eight-story rope climb was switched back to the international standard of four stories.

And the "Minor Quadrathlon" was completely banned.

There was no choice; the casualty rate was too high, a large number of fireman ironn were completely ruined by this Ironman Quadrathlon.

What’s a nightmare? This is a nightmare.

Thinking of this, Fang Huai simply smiled and said:

"If we don’t quicken the pace, we’ll do the Ironman Quadrathlon today! Do it twice, and we can call it a day and rest!"

Everyone turned around in horror, frozen for two seconds.

Twice...

???

After doing it twice, can we really call it a day?

Or call it quits?

Chen Zhechang’s scalp tingled with fear.

I entrusted you with the team, and you’re not planning to give it back to ?

"Crap, quickly, quickly!"

Suddenly, everybody sped up.
