The assessnt was still underway.
But it seed like it might not continue much longer.
In less than 20 minutes, going back and forth three tis, he had brought up three "bodies."
As if they were all dummies under the water. Find the spot, go down and there’s one; go down and there’s another.
The three squads and five squads nearby had just located their first dummy and were beginning to command the helicopter to hoist it up.
The four-hour long assessnt, with 15 dummies, now saw one-third uncovered in 20 minutes.
Vice Bureau Chief Yu was initially worried that this demonstration might not live up to expectations, but now, things were rising too quickly.
The leadership also cleared their throat:
"This comrade... is quite exceptional."
Hu Peizhou thought for a mont, then picked up the two-way radio and said, "Notify Number 1 to co here."
Not explaining this matter in front of the two leaders might seem a bit too cunning.
Moreover, since the leaders had brought up Fang Huai’s future prospects today, he intended to have Fang Huai co over to perform.
At the mont, Fang Huai was on the shore, positioning dummies, arranging for the shore personnel to monitor the dummies’ heart rates seriously. Hearing the call over the radio, he looked back and saw Hu Peizhou gesturing to him, imdiately straightened up, and ran over.
However, running in a full set of frogman gear and flippers looked quite comical, no matter how one looked at it.
"Greetings, sir!"
"Greetings, sir!"
Fang Huai saluted them one by one. Fortunately, the group that ca with the two leaders were waiting at a distance. Otherwise, with a whole circle of sirs, it would be impossible to salute them all.
Those who ca with them were attendants here, but once they went back down, they were likely to be the kind of big shots who could supervise an entire corps.
Up close, Fang Huai felt an imnse excitent as he looked at the two high-ranking leaders.
In his past life, these were figures he would only see on TV! They actually had noses and eyes, pits and pimples on their faces!
Seeing his appearance, the leaders also returned the salute to him with a smile.
Vice Bureau Chief Yu even smiled and pointed at the top of his head.
"Seaweed."
Fang Huai quickly wiped the top of his head, pulling off the seaweed that had stuck there from being underwater.
It was then that Hu Peizhou asked:
"How did you find three so quickly?"
Only then did Fang Huai smile and honestly say:
"Leaders think too little of us, making it an open book examination. I watched as they went down, I know exactly where the fifteen dummies are, clear as day.
This man-made lake of BJ is too clean, there’s no silt below, and it’s still water, no flowing water makes it almost too easy to see to the bottom; it doesn’t really test a person."
Upon hearing this.
The leaders were sowhat surprised, "Oh? You can rember all fifteen positions?"
"Reporting to the leaders, it’s not fifteen, it’s thirteen!" Fang Huai imdiately turned and pointed in a direction:
"The boat should be there, with two dummies on it and one below it. There is buoyancy in the water. If you give another 20 minutes, I can have the helicopter slowly bring the boat to the surface!"
This claim made the two leaders sowhat skeptical.
Even if there are 13 spots, can he really rember them all?
Seeing the expressions on the faces of the leaders, Hu Peizhou quickly picked up the two-way radio and said, "Second group, was the diver who just surfaced in the middle of the lake one of yours?"
"Yes!"
"Tell soone to move about 5 ters to the left from where he just surfaced..."
Fang Huai interrupted: "7 ters."
Hu Peizhou imdiately corrected himself: "About 7 ters to the left, dive down and see what’s there, and then report back."
People quickly went to the shore to pass on the ssage.
After a short while.
Over the two-way radio, an excited report ca through: "Reporting! We’ve found the boat! There are three dummies!"
Fang Huai smiled.
Not only did he have extraordinary mory, but his eyes were also incredibly sharp. He’d seen the situation with the boat clearly underwater; it would have been odd if he was wrong.
Then, pointing to several spots on the water, he said:
"There, there, and there, there are dummies. There’s also one where Group 4 just dived down. They should be right at a dummy’s location; they’ll probably discover one very soon."
Shortly after he finished speaking, the last spot Fang Huai pointed out surfaced soone who started gesturing towards the shore.
They were amazed, completely amazed.
Even Hu Peizhou was sowhat stunned, falling into the sa kind of bewildered state that the Second Squadron had been in before.
How was this even possible?! Did he have so sort of special abilities?
But the leaders, with their extensive experience, quickly regained their composure. Rembering what he had said earlier, one asked with a smile, "Young man, if Jinhai Lake doesn’t test people, tell us, could you achieve the sa search and rescue effectiveness in turbulent waters as you did today?"
Fang Huai smiled.
All of this, he had anticipated.
Performing exceptionally well today might bring an opportunity to speak in front of the leaders, but he had not expected for Hu Peizhou to call him up so quickly.
As the leaders addressed him, Fang Huai imdiately seized the opportunity to answer:
"Leaders, today’s rescue assessnt does not fully demonstrate our efforts to better respond to disasters.
Real flood disasters present complex and variable water flows.
Aside from today’s still water exercises, we have also trained in O-shaped boat maneuvering, boat capsizing, live bait rescues, and the utilization of return flow areas, ensuring that in rapid waters, we’re able to reach trapped individuals as quickly as possible.
Certainly, there are even more undisclosed trainings, such as basics of hydrology, crafting flood profiles, and creating spaces for rescue, etc.
Due to ti constraints, the depth of the training is not enough.
But if we follow the leadership’s plan to promote nationwide training led by key squadrons, we can guarantee that within six months, each province will have a regional support squadron capable of tough missions, and within a year and a half, every squadron will have one or two mbers with extensive professional rescue knowledge, whether they be cadres or soldiers.
