Chapter 719: Chapter 717 All Jerks Believe

So when Lu Zhaozhao said she still had an elderly grandmother, he wasn’t surprised at all.

Pavel scanned Lu Zhaozhao from head to toe before slowly opening his mouth, “Do you want your grandmother to live a good life?”

Lu Zhaozhao blinked, “Thank you, leader, for your concern, my grandmother is already living a good life, thanks to the leader for hiring .”

As she spoke, her tone carried a hint of gratitude, which Pavel rather enjoyed.

After all, everyone wanted to be the hero in a damsel in distress story.

Pavel nodded solemnly, “Since you want to thank , sit here and listen to vent a little.”

Lu Zhaozhao hesitated for a mont but eventually chose to sit on the nearby couch.

Pavel was pleased with her choice and then picked up his glass of wine again, “As the leader of the Pavlov Family, you must think I have the power to summon wind and rain, but actually, being in my position is not as glamorous as it seems, no one really wants to understand …”

Lu Zhaozhao couldn’t help but roll her eyes internally.

If she were truly a little maid of the Pavlov Family, she might be moved by his seemingly gracious attitude.

After all, in Country E, the Pavlov Family was a na to be reckoned with.

For the most powerful man in this family to chat with a lowly maid was like a dream for those living at the bottom.

But Lu Zhaozhao was different, she knew what kind of trash Pavel was, so when he pretended to be so injured, sitting in front of the couch, her disdain for him was maxed out.

Did he think he looked especially rugged, manly, and attractive to the opposite sex by being this way?

Indeed, garbage n like him, no matter their status, always seed overly confident.

Seeing that Lu Zhaozhao hadn’t spoken, Pavel pushed the snacks on the table towards her, “You don’t have to be nervous, nor do you need to think about how to respond to , just sit here quietly, eat so food, and listen to talk.”

He tried hard to appear gentle and understanding.

Lu Zhaozhao nodded lightly.

Since he wanted to play this persona, she would indulge him, not wasting her breath, and there were snacks to eat, so why not, though her ears might not be so peaceful.

Lu Zhaozhao thought of the suffering her ears would endure soon and decisively started eating the snacks on the table.

No harm in eating for free, she supposed. Consider it compensation for her ntal distress.

Pavel watched Lu Zhaozhao eat and couldn’t help but smile slightly.

This little maid was quite interesting, trembling in fear just now, and now unabashed in her eating.

Indeed, food-loving girls were always extra cute.

Pavel hadn’t felt this way before, but since eting this little maid, he felt his opinions on many things had changed.

He took a deep breath, picked up his glass of wine again, and continued drinking, his eyes still fixated on Lu Zhaozhao, as if she were an appetizer.

The two conversed sporadically.

Virtually all the talking was done by Pavel, while Lu Zhaozhao occasionally nodded or said a word or two, spending most of her ti eating snacks.

After a while, Pavel suddenly leaned on the adjacent couch, seemingly passing out drunk.

Lu Zhaozhao ate two more pastries, looked at Pavel who was motionless, and slightly furrowed her brow.

“Leader?”

She instinctively called out, but the other party did not respond to her. She called out again, “Leader?”

Silence was still the only response.

Zhaozhao’s eyebrows twitched; if she rembered correctly, the files Song Sinian had given her previously showed that Pavel had a high alcohol tolerance.

The glass she had just poured him was less than half of his usual intake, so there was no way Pavel could be drunk.

So what did his act of pretending to be drunk an?

Was he trying to see what she would do while he was “drunk”?

Thinking this, Zhaozhao slowly stood up and tiptoed toward the door.

Sure enough, Pavel’s bodyguards were still stationed at the doorway. She waved her small hand at one of them and murmured softly, “The leader fell asleep. Please take care of him; I’ll be heading back first.”

After nodding to the two n, Zhaozhao imdiately took off.

By the ti the two bodyguards ca in, Pavel had slowly opened his eyes.

He indeed wanted to test what this little maid would do when he was “drunk.”

After all, other won would take the chance to strip their clothes off and either lie on the sofa or throw themselves at him.

What surprised him was that she had run off the mont he pretended to be drunk, though thankfully she still had the decency to ask the bodyguards to look after him.

The bodyguards, seeing that Pavel showed no signs of being drunk, were confused. Had the little maid who just dashed off lied to them?

One of the bodyguards cautiously said, “Leader, it’s because the little maid said you were asleep and asked us to co in to take care of you, so we just…”

“Uh, I was just pretending to be asleep,” Pavel knew what the bodyguard ant and gave a straightforward answer.

The bodyguard sighed in relief, but then he was imdiately shocked.

The leader had been pretending to sleep, especially in front of that little maid; his pupils shook with the realization.

Pavel didn’t notice the bodyguard’s expression but rely curled his lips slightly, “Indeed a child, pure and cute.”

“…”

“Knock, knock, knock!”

Suddenly, soone knocked on the door, and the two bodyguards almost simultaneously walked toward the doorway.

The door quickly opened, and Niezuo entered.

He was surprised to see both bodyguards standing in front of Pavel—had sothing happened right before he entered?

Usually, these two would either be stationed at the doorway or sent by Pavel to do other tasks.

It was rare for both of them to be in the room at the sa ti.

Seeing Niezuo enter the room, Pavel raised an eyebrow and gestured for the bodyguards to leave.

Once the bodyguards respectfully stepped outside, Niezuo stepped forward and reported, “Leader, Aleksey, Damir, and Vladimir went to the hospital and since then, there’s been no noise from them. Their trusted subordinates haven’t made contact with anyone else either.”

From the investigation, it seed that these three could essentially be cleared of suspicion, but whether the leader chose to believe that was his own business.

As expected, Pavel’s brow furrowed upon hearing what Niezuo had said.

Besides those three, who else would dare to tamper with his goods?
