Chapter 586: Chapter 584: Are We That Close?

At this mont, Xu Zhenzhen looked nothing like her usual self at the law firm. She was dressed in a haute couture evening gown, a pure white that sparkled with an iridescent glint like glass.

The whole person shone with a rippling light, as if a piece of fine jade under sunlight, being illuminated to a dazzling brilliance.

“Big brother’s taste isn’t bad at all, the evening gown selection is very attentive,” Lu Zhaozhao narrowed her eyes as she turned to look at Xia Wenyan standing beside her.

However, Xia Wenyan just slightly tilted his chin up, “You’re not looking at who recomnded it. Not a single one among those few dresses looked bad, if she managed to ruin the look with any of them, I’d bow down to them!”

Lu Zhaozhao couldn’t help but smirk, not expecting her fourth brother to have such a stellar performance when it ca to fashion.

Suddenly, Xia Wenyan seed to have noticed sothing; he gently nudged Lu Zhaozhao with his elbow, “Little sister, look quickly, Liu Xiaozhen is making her move.”

Following Xia Wenyan’s gaze, Lu Zhaozhao then noticed that as soon as Liu Xiaozhen saw Xu Zhenzhen and Xia Wenqing enter from the doorway, she began to move toward them.

“Wenyan, long ti no see.” Liu Xiaozhen nodded towards Xia Wenyan, blatantly ignoring Xu Zhenzhen by his side.

Her sudden approach made Xia Wenqing instinctively take a half step back and then instinctively tighten his grip around Xu Zhenzhen’s waist, “Zhenzhen, protect .”

Liu Xiaozhen: “…”

Was she so kind of ferocious beast?

Did Xia Wenqing have to act like this whenever he saw her?

Yet Xu Zhenzhen really bought into Xia Wenqing’s act, protectively using her arm to shield him just as a mother hen would guard her chicks.

She lifted her chin slightly, her gaze filled with displeasure as she addressed Liu Xiaozhen, “What are you doing here?”

If she rembered correctly, Xia Wenqing had made things clear with Liu Xiaozhen a long ti ago.

Xu Zhenzhen didn’t understand why she still tried to cozy up in front of so many people.

Liu Xiaozhen took a deep breath, looking at Xu Zhenzhen as if she had been hurt by her, “I’m here naturally because I’ve also received an invitation.”

After sweeping her gaze over Xu Zhenzhen’s figure, she gazed directly at Xia Wenqing, her face full of sorrow, like a desolate woman spurned.

Both Xu Zhenzhen and Xia Wenqing felt a bit creeped out being stared at like that.

If the two of them weren’t sure about their relationship, they’d even start to doubt whether there was any illicit affair between them.

People around them, seeing the weird atmosphere among the three, couldn’t help but gather around and sneak peeks.

Xu Zhenzhen’s eyebrows knotted up fiercely, she usually didn’t care much about what others said, but she did not like the feeling of being exploited by Liu Xiaozhen.

Moreover, now with Xia Wenqing by her side, it was clear that she was openly challenging her.

She might have been oblivious to such petty ploys before, but now that she understood, she wasn’t going to give her another chance.

Xu Zhenzhen looked at Liu Xiaozhen with a forced smile and said word by word, “Lawyer Liu, since you’re invited here, stop staring at my boyfriend. No matter how much you stare at him, he won’t take a fancy to you. You might as well find soone else early. There are so many n at the party, you can switch to soone else to pester.”

With just a few words, she echoed back Liu Xiaozhen’s shade, clearly establishing Xia Wenqing as her boyfriend and repeating the matter of her clinginess and setting her sights on her boyfriend.

The onlookers were surprised while eating their lons.

They hadn’t expected the new lawyer in the Shangjing Circle to have a penchant for stealing other people’s boyfriends.

Looking at her decent appearance and temperant, tsk tsk… Who would’ve thought she was a know-it-all wannabe.

They were all lawyers, so they were no strangers to this sort of thing; after all, they had seen even the most bizarre cases.

A know-it-all wannabe, that’s just child’s play.

Liu Xiaozhen’s cheeks trembled slightly, but she still maintained a troubled expression as she looked at the two, “Zhenzhen, I didn’t expect you to hate this much. We were school seniors and juniors from the sa college, do you really have to sar my na in front of others like this?”

When she said this, she took a deep breath as if she had just suffered a great injustice.

Xu Zhenzhen looked at Liu Xiaozhen’s sickly deanor and raised an eyebrow in silence, “, sar your na? Do you have any proof? After so many years as a lawyer, don’t you even have this basic common sense? You seduced my boyfriend, and I have a pile of evidence. Don’t bla if you can’t take the face-saving I’m offering!”

She originally went to the charity dinner with Xia Wenqing dressed to impress, with the simple plan of enjoying the food and drinks.

Who would have thought she would run into Liu Xiaozhen here?

Running into her was one thing, but then Liu Xiaozhen wouldn’t stop badgering them like a lunatic—Xu Zhenzhen couldn’t stand it, and that was not like her!

Xu Zhenzhen’s voice wasn’t soft; she never intended to save face for Liu Xiaozhen in the first place, so now that they were at each other’s throats, she was even less restrained.

Liu Xiaozhen frowned tightly, looking sowhat anxiously to Xia Wenqing for help, which made Xu Zhenzhen even more speechless.

After all, Xia Wenqing was her boyfriend, she couldn’t possibly side with Liu Xiaozhen, an outsider—unless Xia Wenqing was out of his mind.

A pity for Liu Xiaozhen, Xia Wenqing wasn’t.

So Xu Zhenzhen was even more perplexed, what exactly was Liu Xiaozhen trying to sell here?

She instinctively felt that Liu Xiaozhen wouldn’t do such a thing without a reason; she must have had another move planned.

Sure enough, as people around them started to gather closer, Xu Zhenzhen spotted two familiar figures. Just as she was about to speak, Lu Zhaozhao beat her to the punch.

“What’s going on here?”

Almost imdiately, Liu Xiaozhen positioned herself next to Lu Zhaozhao, “Zhaozhao, I’m fine, this matter…”

She hadn’t finished speaking when she swept her gaze over Xia Wenqing’s figure, and with an expression of imnse suppressed pain, she said to Lu Zhaozhao, “I just haven’t seen Lawyer Xia in a long ti and ca over to say hello.”

Xu Zhenzhen: “???”

When did Liu Xiaozhen get so close to Lu Zhaozhao?

Even calling her Zhaozhao!

Her brow furrowed noticeably. Was this so sche concocted behind her back, stealing her ho?

How could her beloved Zhaozhao be spending ti with such an annoying woman?

Xu Zhenzhen was about to explode on the spot. She finally found a bestie who was right up her alley, and she absolutely couldn’t let Liu Xiaozhen, that green tea bitch, lure her away.

Just as she was about to speak up, she saw Lu Zhaozhao wink at her covertly, and Xu Zhenzhen got the hint. The words she was about to say were swallowed back down.

Xia Wenyan, enjoying the commotion and not afraid to stir the pot, chuckled, “What’s the matter? I could hear you fighting from afar—did the two ladies clash over my second brother?”

“I…”

“No, we were just exchanging simple greetings…” Just as Xu Zhenzhen opened her mouth to speak, Liu Xiaozhen imdiately interrupted her.
