"Qi Muyu."
Fei Yan suddenly called her.
Qi Muyu blinked, "Oh, what are you doing here?"
"I’ve been here."
"Really?" Qi Muyu looked at him with a skeptical eye.
Her expression said "like hell I believe you."
Fei Yan stood before her, silently staring at her.
Stared until Qi Muyu got goosebumps.
"What do you want..."
"Got a boyfriend?"
"Huh?" Qi Muyu’s face was a picture of shock.
Fei Yan still looked at her with those deep, calm eyes, then solemnly took out a velvet box from his pocket and opened it.
The sunlight glinted off it, refracting a dazzling beam of light.
Qi Muyu was nearly blinded by the light: "What’s this?"
"A ring."
"..."
I could see that!
But why are you taking out a ring?
We’re not even that close.
"Please go out with ."
A ring was thrust in her face!
The boy looked at her seriously.
Qi Muyu was as stunned as a wooden chicken, eting his gaze.
What’s going on?
"It’s not that... What are you doing? We hardly know each other, right?" This is utterly absurd!
If it were anyone else, Qi Muyu would have hit them by now.
"I live in Beijing, nad Fei Yan, in junior year of high school, my mother died on duty, father unknown, currently fostered by my maternal grandparents. I make my own money, and can provide well for my girlfriend."
The boy rattled off his personal information dryly.
Qi Muyu: "..."
Is he okay?
Fei Yan just held out the ring, waiting for her to speak, his jaw clenched tight, showing he was sowhat nervous.
Proposing with a ring, he’s got a novel idea.
He must think this is a marriage proposal.
Qi Muyu felt like rolling her eyes at him but restrained herself.
"I don’t date early."
"We can make a promise for later."
God, a promise for later!
"No promises."
"Qi Muyu, I rember you. A life saved is a life owed, and it’s only right to reciprocate."
This ti, Qi Muyu did roll her eyes at him, grinding her teeth, "I don’t need your reciprocation."
Wouldn’t it be better to pretend we don’t know each other?
Why must you bring it all up?
"What about my terms do you find unsatisfactory?"
"..."
Qi Muyu turned and walked away.
Not wanting to talk to a lunatic.
Sothing flared in Fei Yan’s eyes.
"Don’t bite the hand that feeds you," Qi Muyu called out without looking back.
Fei Yan froze in his steps, watching Qi Muyu walk away.
*
"She’s crazy."
Qi Muyu ran to the cold drinks shop, bought an ice cream, and stuffed it into her mouth bite by bite, finishing it in just a few gulps.
Turning her head to look in one direction, she saw that idiot standing under the blazing sun, the ground distorted by the heat. Wasn’t he hot in those clothes?
Qi Muyu ordered another popsicle and crunched on it, her gaze falling on that idiot.
The two of them stared at each other from a distance, which was sowhat bizarre.
Even from this distance, Qi Muyu felt like she could see a hint of disappointnt in his dark eyes.
Qi Muyu encountered this situation for the first ti. At school, people would sneakily stuff mushy love letters, but this guy? He went straight for a ring, making it look like a proposal.
Qi Muyu watched the idiot clutching the little box, standing there stiff as a statue. Passing beach beauties didn’t know how many tis they had turned to stare at him; yet, he had no reaction at all, his eyes fixed on Qi Muyu’s side.
A few girls behind Qi Muyu pointed at Fei Yan excitedly, comnting on his appearance.
"That guy is so handso; is he looking at us?"
"He looks pretty young; would it be appropriate for us to go up and strike up a conversation?"
"Everyone’s into the older woman/younger man thing now, go for it!"
College students and high school students don’t differ that much in age.
A few girls then approached Fei Yan, giggling and bashful.
Qi Muyu watched to see how he would handle them.
Not knowing what Fei Yan had said, Qi Muyu only saw the girls return with particularly embarrassed looks on their faces.
Qi Muyu raised an eyebrow, curious about what he had said.
Fei Yan just stood there staring at her, motionless.
Qi Muyu lowered her gaze, and then she heard the returning girls muttering, "What’s with that, the handso guy’s already got a fiancée."
Qi Muyu: !!!!!
What the heck?
"The little hottie said his fiancée is here too."
"He’s probably just making that up to reject us."
"Who knows."
"Too bad, can look at the hottie but can’t have him."
"If this one’s not possible, onto the next!"
The girls then laughed and walked away together.
Qi Muyu was speechless.
She never thought Fei Yan would lie.
Seeing that he was standing there, ready to bake himself in the sun, Qi Muyu felt annoyed. "Boss, a bottle of ice water, please."
Qi Muyu paid for the water and strode towards Fei Yan, shoving the ice water into his arms, "Are you out of your mind? Do you want to roast yourself to death?"
Fei Yan was startled, "You don’t like ."
"Then why don’t you disappear already?" What are you doing in front of .
"This..." Fei Yan handed her the ring box.
"I don’t want it."
"It’s no use to ."
"Save it for soone you like."
"The one I like is you."
"..."
"Do you have soone you like?" Fei Yan suddenly thought of this question.
"What if I do?" Qi Muyu glanced at him.
"I wish you happiness."
"Happiness, my foot," Qi Muyu rolled her eyes at him again, "You don’t even know what liking soone ans, do you? I saved you when we were kids out of sheer kindness. I didn’t expect this kind of payback. Pretend you don’t know from now on; that will be repaynt enough."
Fei Yan’s gaze darkened slightly.
"I will."
Knowing that he wasn’t dumb, Qi Muyu handed him the ice water and went to find Chen Shunuo and the others.
She didn’t want to argue with him here any longer.
Irritating.
"Mu Yu, what’s wrong with you? You look a bit pale. Heatstroke?"
Qu Mo turned his head to see the unwell-looking Qi Muyu and sat up from his beach chair.
Qi Muyu shook her head, "Where are they?"
"Still soaking in the water. I’m a landlubber; can only watch the stuff with you here."
Qi Muyu could actually swim, but she didn’t want to go into the water, so she lied.
Qi Muyu looked over her shoulder again and again, and finally seeing no sign of Fei Yan following, she heaved a sigh of relief.
Following her gaze, Qu Mo looked back, "What are you looking at?"
"I’m going to lie down for a bit," Qi Muyu settled onto another lounge chair, and the rest of the ti passed peacefully without any further "chance" encounters with Fei Yan.
He really did keep his distance from her.
They were planning to spend two or three days at the beach, and they had booked the hotel for two nights.
Qi Muyu lay awake on the large hotel bed, listening to the bustling noise outside, then got up, hands in pockets, and stood on the asphalt road behind the beach, facing the sea.
In front of the beach, flickering lights glimred like falling stars—strikingly beautiful at a glance!
Qi Muyu sensed sothing and turned her head to see a sneaky figure.
"..."
The person shrank back.
Qi Muyu, voice filled with exasperation, said, "I can see you."
Zhu Jinhuan didn’t bother hiding anymore, coming out, "When did you notice ?"
"Just now."
"..."
"Why are you following ?"
"This isn’t your private property, can’t I co here?"
"Sure."
Qi Muyu furrowed her brow and pressed a hand to her chest, the montary heart palpitations making her frown even more.
"Did Fei Yan co looking for you?" Zhu Jinhuan didn’t notice the fleeting discomfort in Qi Muyu and started chattering away.
