Chapter 495: Chapter 490: Is It Coming?
With Qi Si’s arrangents, Shen Zheng was transported onto a private airplane while still in a deep sleep.
Xiao Ling stood in front of the airport, raised her hand, and waved, the cold wind flipping her dark hair and trench coat halfway around.
Yanyan looked down, only to see Xiao Ling’s slender figure turning away.
Having just lain down on the private plane, Shen Zheng soon awoke, his eyes clouded with confusion.
Yanyan heard the noise and diverted her gaze.
The plane then took off.
“Where am I…” Shen Zheng saw Yanyan and looked around, furrowing his brows tightly.
“On the plane, your sister-in-law asked to bring you back to the country for recuperation.”
Shen Zheng widened his eyes slightly then, struggling, he attempted to get up, looking distressed.
Yanyan restrained his movent, “We’ve already taken off, Brother. The sister-in-law personally got you on board. With your current condition, you won’t be able to help her but will hold her back. Are you sure you want to go back?”
Shen Zheng’s face turned pale, and he froze in his movents.
After a while, he dejectedly collapsed back onto the bed.
“I know I’ve been a burden to her,” Shen Zheng’s deanor was sowhat worriso.
“Brother, she suffered a lot to save you. If you want to see her soon, then heal well.”
Only then did Shen Zheng look at Yanyan, his voice hoarse, “Does she know everything?”
“I know everything,” Yanyan looked at him, “Brother, you ca out because of and got injured because of . I share so of the responsibility for your affairs.”
Shen Zheng closed his eyes, seemingly exhausted, “Don’t take on unnecessary guilt.”
Yanyan stepped closer, “I’m not taking on unnecessary guilt. Are you saying you didn’t co out because of ?”
Shen Zheng opened his eyes, frowning, “It has nothing to do with you.”
“You are my brother, how can it have nothing to do with ?” Yanyan glanced at the ti on her phone, “Dad and mom are already waiting for you.”
“You told them!” Shen Zheng seed a bit agitated.
“We can’t hide it once we return,” Yanyan said.
Shen Zheng felt a dull pain in his head, weakly said, “Forget it.”
“Rest well, Brother. We’ll be ho in a few hours.”
“Yanyan,” Shen Zheng stopped Yanyan as she was leaving, “About Xiao Ling, don’t ntion it to the family yet.”
Yanyan frowned, staring at Shen Zheng for a long ti, her voice grave, “You want to hide your relationship? Look down on her?”
Shen Zheng also frowned, “What nonsense. You don’t know her situation at all, now is not the ti…” In his ghastly condition, how could he possibly explain to the family.
Yanyan’s voice grew colder, “As long as you don’t despise her, that’s fine.”
Shen Zheng looked at her strangely, “It seems, she has won you over too.”
“Too?” Yanyan suddenly looked at him with a seemingly amused expression.
Shen Zheng pretended to have a severe headache, turned to his side, avoiding the topic.
Only then did Yanyan walk out, smiling.
*
As soon as the plane landed, Gu Ting and the others hurriedly approached.
The single bed was carried down, and Gu Ting rushed over, her eyes red and wet, “Xiao Zheng, you, how did you end up like this…”
“Mom,” seeing his mother so heartbroken, Shen Zheng also felt bitter, “I’m sorry for worrying you all.”
“It’s alright,” Shen Zuo held Gu Ting back, “Let’s take the child to the hospital for a thorough check-up first.”
Gu Ting imdiately stepped aside, walking along with the vehicle.
Once inside the limousine, Gu Ting leaned on Shen Zuo, her eyes red as she looked towards Qi Si, “Thank you for your hard work.”
“I only did what I should.”
Qi Si didn’t feel he had done much.
He had only made arrangents to return to the country after learning of Shen Zheng’s accident.
The Shen Family could have done the sa.
Yanyan spoke up to comfort, “My big brother’s surgery didn’t have any issues, he went through several checks abroad as well.”
“It’s still safer to do it again,” Shen Zuo said, “We’ve already arranged it with the hospital.”
Hearing this, Yanyan didn’t say more.
A check-up would indeed give them more peace of mind.
The results from the major hospital were out, and the Shen Family mbers finally relaxed the anxiety they had been holding.
The other mbers of the Shen Family crowded into the hospital room, leaving Shen Yan and Qi Si to step outside.
“Everything here is arranged, Mr. Qi…”
“I will stay here with you.”
“What about your work?”
“I’ll deal with it later,” Qi Si said. “Yanyan, there won’t be anyone else in trouble after this, believe .”
Shen Yan said, “You’re not an ‘immortal’, you can’t prevent all accidents from happening. Qi Si, don’t be too hard on yourself.”
She took the initiative to grab his hand and rested her head on Qi Si’s chest.
Qi Si, with a solemn look in his eyes, drew her into his embrace.
“Whatever happens, don’t leave ,” Qi Si whispered, kissing her hair and anxiously repeating the words, “Promise .”
Shen Yan made a sound but did not make a solid promise.
“Yanyan,” Qi Si held her tighter, even more anxiously.
Shen Yan smiled unnaturally, “I’m right here, I’m not going anywhere.”
Qi Si held her tight and did not speak.
“Ahem!”
From the corridor on the left, soone cleared his throat.
Shen Yan turned around and saw Grandpa Shen, feeling a bit embarrassed, “Grandpa.”
“This is a hospital, do be mindful.”
“Yes.”
Shen Yan glanced at Qi Si and walked to Grandpa Shen, “My brother’s condition has stabilized. Why did you still co?”
Grandpa Shen glared, “Can’t I co?”
“Your health…”
“I’m not too old to walk,” Grandpa Shen waved his hand, “You young people go nurture your feelings, don’t mind this old man.”
Shen Yan’s cheeks felt a bit hot, “We still need to stay and look after my brother.”
“With the whole family here, do you need to?” Grandpa Shen waved his hand, “Qi Si, take Yanyan ho to rest. Look at her, she has lost weight from running around.”
Qi Si took Shen Yan’s hand, “Grandpa Shen, we will be leaving first.”
Grandpa Shen waved his hand and went into the hospital room.
*
Back at their place, Qi Si’s phone was ringing nonstop.
It was either the Qi Family inquiring about Shen Zheng’s condition or his friends calling to ask; on Shen Yan’s end, no one proactively contacted her about Shen Zheng.
She washed so fruit and brought it out. Seeing Qi Si still discussing important matters over the phone, she put down a plate of fruit, turned around, and sent ssages to Gu Ting and the others, then received a ssage from Vice Dean Shao.
[They will arrive in three days, make preparations.]
Shen Yan tightened her grip.
Were they coming?
Shen Yan turned around and looked out the window at the tall, trim figure of Qi Si.
Once it started, she wasn’t sure if she could control the situation.
She feared she might lose control…
Shen Yan replied to Vice Dean Shao: [I understand.]
*
Shen Ning had taken care of Bai Zhong and, upon hearing that Shen Wenhong was returning, she did not contact Shen Feng and instead went back to Beijing.
She arrived in Beijing only two hours later than Shen Yan.
Upon entering Beijing, Shen Ning first sought out Shen Feng.
Shen Feng had returned to Mountain City to deal with Shen Family affairs and was physically and ntally exhausted.
The decline of the Shancheng Shen Family was becoming evident, and the words of Shen Yan resurfaced clearly in Shen Feng’s mind.
“Brother.”
The voice at the door pulled Shen Feng from his thoughts; he suddenly looked up at Shen Ning, “Why are you back in Beijing? Is Bai Zhong’s condition stable?”
“He’s fine, but the Bai Family’s business took quite a hit. I helped him sort out so issues. Hearing that Dad was coming back, I couldn’t wait and ca back to Beijing first. I also heard about the family issues. Brother, has our Shen Family been targeted by soone?”
