Chapter 458: Chapter 453: Du and the diator!

“Qi Si, you’re here too,” Du Yun Dan sighed as he walked over, “what a coincidence, why don’t we all sit down and have a al together?”

After making the suggestion, Du Yun Dan wished he could bite off his own tongue.

What was he thinking, proposing such a foolish idea!

Qi Si stood aloof, with no response.

The atmosphere grew even colder.

Du Yun Dan looked toward Shen Yan.

Shen Yan’s gaze slid over Zhai Hongshen’s body and she said with a light smile, “Since it’s such a coincidence, let’s eat a simple al together.”

Hearing this, Qi Si nodded.

Du Yun Dan couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.

Indeed, Shen Yan’s words were effective!

Just as Du Yun Dan was about to express his gratitude to Shen Yan, he heard her say to Zhai Hongshen with a smirk, “Regarding Miss Zhai’s matter, I am very sorry. I did indeed visit her once, and perhaps it was the sight of alive that scared her. After that day, I wanted to apologize but never expected that it would be too late.”

After speaking, Shen Yan let out a small sigh.

Du Yun Dan stiffened: “…”

His feeling of gratitude was forcibly turned aside.

Zhai Hongshen’s gaze deepened as he looked at Shen Yan, and in the end, he only responded indifferently, “Is that so, that’s truly a pity.”

“It is indeed a pity,” Shen Yan’s lips curved up slightly, “It’s such a sha for Miss Zhai in her pri. I warned her the first ti she got involved with those people, but she wouldn’t listen. Young Master Zhai, accept my condolences.”

Shen Yan was no saint; she couldn’t simply let go of the grudges she held because of Zhai Xilan’s death.

Zhai Hongshen clenched his fists and took a slow, deep breath.

“What did you find out before that?” Zhai Hongshen tried to probe for more, “The Shen Yan of today is so different from the Shen Yan of the past.”

Shen Yan’s dark eyes narrowed dangerously, “How much did Mr. Zhai know about the forr ?”

Zhai Hongshen paused.

Indeed.

Whether it was the Shen Yan of the past or the present, they had never truly understood her.

But.

The Shen Yan standing before him felt even more profound, more mysterious.

That veil of mystery filled with power made the real her elusive.

Zhai Hongshen also sensed a dangerous aura emanating from her, and he fixed his gaze.

“Ahem,” Du Yun Dan felt that if he didn’t intervene now, the two might start arguing or even fighting in front of everyone, “Whatever it is, can’t we talk about it after we sit down inside?”

The two quieted down.

Shen Yan’s gaze shifted involuntarily toward Qi Si, who took her hand, “Let’s go.”

Shen Yan gave Zhai Hongshen a slight nod, her deanor as usual, as if she wasn’t the one who had spoken those words just a mont ago.

Zhai Hongshen took a slow breath, composed his emotions, and followed into the small courtyard Du Yun Dan had prepared.

Inside, the surroundings were even quieter.

The atmosphere was also more uncanny.

Qi Si and Shen Yan sat down with ease; the awkward one was Du Yun Dan.

Sitting in the middle, he found it improper to say anything or to stay silent, making him terribly uncomfortable.

Du Yun Dan secretly sent ssages to Wang Jue and Chi Boyuan, but the two seed to vanish without a reply for a long ti.

They weren’t usually this busy, were they?

Especially Wang Jue, whose assistant would have reminded him as soon as his phone rang.

Left with no choice, Du Yun Dan had to shoulder the burden himself.

“Today, I’m treating. Feel free to order anything.”

Du Yun Dan placed the nu in the center of the table, letting them choose for themselves; he didn’t dare to touch the tightly drawn strings between them.

If they snapped, he would cut his hands, hurting both sides.

Du Yun Dan had never sat through a al with such discomfort as he did today; it was unbearable.

However, Shen Yan didn’t hold back, picking up the nu and ordering a few dishes, while Qi Si’s hand made a small gesture.

Indicating for Shen Yan to order as she pleased.

Zhai Hongshen’s slender fingers resting on the table lifted slightly, also indicating that Shen Yan could order.

Du Yun Dan felt the atmosphere becoming more and more bizarre, and all he wanted was to flee!

He was also worried that if he left, the three might actually start fighting.

Forget it.

He would just sit and watch attentively.

Du Yun Dan was sitting here, so they had to give him face.

“Shen Yan, are you planning to stay in Beijing for a while this ti?” Du Yun Dan had to break the silence to ease the awkwardness.

“It depends on the company’s arrangents,” Shen Yan said with a slight smile, her deanor exceedingly pleasant, appearing as if she had the temperant of a gentle and soft young lady.

Du Yun Dan didn’t have much contact with her, but from the few encounters, he could tell that Shen Yan was definitely not a frail girl.

“Your recent movie was a huge hit, congratulations.”

“Thank you.”

Shen Yan didn’t expect soone like Du Yun Dan to pay attention to showbiz.

“Would you like so wine?” Du Yun Dan looked at Zhai Hongshen, then at Qi Si.

Qi Si said, “I’m driving.”

“…” Not giving any face at all.

“I have other matters after dinner,” Zhai Hongshen stated coldly.

Du Yun Dan: “…”

Neither of them cooperated, was it going to continue to be this tense?

Were they not planning to be brothers anymore?

Beco enemies?

Du Yun Dan had a pounding headache.

“Then after dinner, we go our separate ways,” Du Yun Dan said helplessly.

Silence.

An eerie silence.

Just as Du Yun Dan was about to speak up, the waiter had already brought in the dishes.

The clinking of chopsticks against bowls, the sound of chewing, quiet and eerie.

Qi Si silently served Shen Yan so food, watching her enjoy her al made his own more flavorful.

Shen Yan didn’t care if Zhai Hongshen bore any grudge against her, she continued to eat and drink, unaffected, ntally resilient as ever, earning Du Yun Dan’s imnse admiration!

Then looking at Qi Si, the pair were indeed a match made in heaven, perfectly in sync!

Du Yun Dan ate as if chewing on wax, seemingly aging several years in the ti it took to finish the al!

Finally, having finished the al, Shen Yan and Qi Si took their leave first.

With the atmosphere off-kilter, Shen Yan didn’t want to trouble herself and Qi, so leaving early was best.

“Is this how you plan to handle things?” Du Yun Dan stood beside the car, eyeing Zhai Hongshen with squinting eyes.

Zhai Hongshen’s gaze retreated from the distance, “I don’t know.”

“You don’t know?” Du Yun Dan pressed a hand to his forehead, “It’s not about romance, is it really that complicated and unsolvable? Your sister’s death was an accident, unrelated to Shen Yan, and even less to do with Qi Si. Hong Shen, are you resenting Qi Si for not taking your side?”

Zhai Hongshen turned to face him, staring at Du Yun Dan, “You’re being unusually nosy today.”

“Do you think I want to be involved?” Du Yun Dan furrowed his eyebrows tightly, “So, do you really bla Qi?”

“Not him, I bla myself.”

“Bullshit,” Du Yun Dan blurted out, furious.

Zhai Hongshen was taken aback, Du Yun Dan was the most refined and gentle of them all, always steady and composed as if he could maintain such deanor even if the sky fell.

But just now, he had cursed.

“Zhai Hongshen, dare you say you bear no responsibility for your sister’s death? That your family bears no guilt? Of course, she herself is most responsible. Wang Jue and Chi Boyuan didn’t get involved in this, do you know why?” Du Yun Dan grabbed Zhai Hongshen’s collar, flinging him against the car, Zhai Hongshen’s tall fra leaning on the car body as he glared at the angry Du Yun Dan, “Because your sister was at fault first, the Zhai Family watched coldly, even covertly supported her, making your family the chief culprit behind her death!”

“Are you dissatisfied with Shen Yan for being sarcastic to you today? Still want Qi to take your side? Don’t overestimate yourself. Shen Yan is Qi’s woman, and of course, he will take her side, Zhai Hongshen, don’t tell you’re jealous.”

Zhai Hongshen twitched at the corner of his mouth: “…”

“The Zhai Family should take a good look at themselves, and so should you,” Du Yun Dan poked his chest forcefully with his slender finger, “Put away your self-pity, and only co back to see us when you’ve co to your senses. I don’t want to be stuck in between, playing the thankless role of a ddleso old woman.”

Zhai Hongshen brushed off his hand, his expression nonchalant, “I didn’t ask you to do all this.”

“Snap.”

Du Yun Dan kicked his foot.

Zhai Hongshen furrowed his brows, eting Du Yun Dan’s gaze levelly.

“Do you think I want to do this? Look at what a ss you two have beco. This used to be Boyuan’s job, but now he’s unwilling, so I have to step in,” Du Yun Dan coldly said, “What did you say to Boyuan at that ti? Say it again.”

Zhai Hongshen: “…”

“Once you co to your senses, go and properly apologize to Shen Yan.” Du Yun Dan’s voice softened.

Zhai Hongshen, sowhat irritated, ran his fingers through his hair: “I know.”

Du Yun Dan patted his shoulder, “I’ll drive you over, to prevent you from speeding and killing an innocent passerby.”

“No need.”

“Get in the car!”

Zhai Hongshen: “…”
