Chapter 448: Chapter 443: Seizure

“Uncle Liu, I’ll be out for two days,” Shen Yan pressed down on a mouthful of blood in her throat and said to Liu Su.

“Your voice sounds a bit off…”

“I’ve caught a little cold,” Shen Yan sniffed, “but it’s just a minor cold. A walk outside and sweating it out will fix it.”

“Hold on, take so dicine before you go. You’re sick, so just go another day. There’s no rush,” Liu Su hurried to fetch the dicine box.

Shen Yan followed up, “I’ve already made plans with Lin Shuangxu and the others. I’ll be out for these two days, so there’s no need for you all to look for specifically.”

“Are you going to hang out with classmates? In which direction?” Liu Su turned back and hurriedly asked.

Shen Yan shook her head, “Haven’t decided yet. I have to go now; I’m running out of ti.”

“Yanyan…”

Liu Su chased after her to the garage, but Shen Yan had already started the car.

“At least eat so breakfast before you go.”

Shen Yan’s car had already driven away, leaving Liu Su feeling extrely helpless.

Liu Su didn’t notice how pale Shen Yan looked as she hurriedly left just now.

*

“Ugh!”

Shen Yan didn’t get far in her car when she vomited all the blood onto the steering wheel, and the traffic lights ahead blurred.

The pain that tornted her body surged up again, and Shen Yan curled up, her body convulsing due to the effort to suppress her suffering.

That face, covered with makeup, was ghastly pale, resembling a ghost.

“Beep beep!!”

The honking around sharply pulled Shen Yan back to her senses.

She took a deep breath and continued driving.

Her hands, gripping the steering wheel, clenched tighter and tighter.

*

Shen Yan didn’t know how far she had driven when she felt her strength being drained.

She was covered in blood she had vomited, and mocked herself: If she continued like this, she really was going to croak.

Shen Yan gave a wry smile, thinking about how she had been given a chance to start over, only to end up like this, it seed like a cruel joke.

Shen Yan rested in the car for a while, and after a long and heavy bout of coughing, she finally felt a little better.

Taking advantage of the mont, Shen Yan tidied up a bit. Looking down at her clothes stained red, she entered a not-so-luxurious hotel, tugging at her mask and coughing several tis as she spoke.

The receptionist was taken aback by her appearance!

“Miss, you, what happened to you? Should I call the police…”

“Soone splashed with tomato sauce… Could you please help buy two new sets of clothes, I’ll be staying for three days…”

Shen Yan, enduring the burning sensation in her throat, instructed the receptionist, then took her room key and went upstairs.

*

Bathroom.

Shen Yan looked up at her reflection in the mirror, resembling a ghost. If Qi Si saw her, he would certainly be frightened.

Shen Yan tugged at the corners of her mouth, the person in the mirror doing the sa, in quite a sorry state.

Now, all Shen Yan hoped for was that her movie would be released and make it to the trending searches.

She should have arranged a trending search in advance, so she wouldn’t have to endure such tornt.

The receptionist delivered things, and Shen Yan only allowed them to be left at the door. She took them inside to change, and after washing up, she rested halfway on the bed.

Her phone chid with incoming ssages, it was Qi Si.

Ever since leaving Shen City, especially in the last two days, Qi Si had been ssaging her very frequently.

Shen Yan replied to the ssage and also found out from Qi Si that they had found evidence proving his innocence, asking her to be at ease.

He also revealed the news that Jian Yu had been taken away, which was indeed a cause for joy.

Shen Yan felt it was a pity that she hadn’t been able to witness Jian Yu being taken away with her own eyes.

The departnt had intervened personally, and even Jian Yu’s international identity was of little use now. What followed would depend on how the base handled Jian Yu’s situation.

Even if they were willing to go out on a limb for Jian Yu, there was a chance Jian Yu could regain her freedom, but the base would also get caught up in so trouble, and their research might even beco exposed!

Though this matter was unrelated to dostic affairs, Jian Yu was still a Shen City native who had taken part in those studies, and she would co under criticism from the research community.

It could even jeopardize the futures of Shen Feng and Shen Ning.

At this ti, Shen Ning, still in Shen City, probably hadn’t received the news yet.

Shen Yan thought of this, coughed, and opened another webpage on her mobile phone to find a way to leak the news to Shen Ning that Jian Yu had been taken away.

The news was directly relayed to Shen Ning through the institute.

“Snap!”

Seeing the ssage, Shen Ning, standing in the hospital corridor, was stupefied, and she didn’t even notice her phone dropping to the floor.

Madam Bai, who was walking with Shen Ning, was also taken aback by her reaction, “Shen Ning? Are you okay? Shen Ning?”

Shen Ning still didn’t respond, not until Madam Bai bent down to pick up the phone off the floor. Shen Ning, as if suddenly revitalized, snatched the phone back from Madam Bai’s hands quickly.

“Shen Ning?” Madam Bai was montarily baffled by her actions.

“I, I’m fine,” Shen Ning handed the fruits she was holding to Madam Bai, “Sorry, sothing’s co up abruptly.”

“Ah?”

Madam Bai wanted to call her back, but Shen Ning was already nowhere to be seen in front.

Shen Ning had already entered the elevator to go downstairs.

Her hands trembled as she slid to unlock her phone; finally dialing Shen Feng’s number was difficult, and she found it hard to speak when the call connected.

“Anning?”

“Brother…”

Shen Feng, hearing the tone in her voice, knew the news couldn’t be concealed.

“Did you hear?”

“Mhm.” Shen Ning clutched her phone tighter, “What’s going on? Mom wouldn’t do such a thing, right? Brother, tell .”

“She wouldn’t do it. The investigation is still ongoing; I suspect Mom has been frad.”

Frad?

Sohow, hearing this word, Shen Ning felt a sudden sense of relief.

She’d rather it was a setup than the truth.

“Do you have any suspects?” Shen Ning asked, while a face flashed across her mind.

“None. I can’t see who would have the capability to do this; this isn’t a normal setup.”

In both their eyes, their mother was innocent and simply couldn’t be involved in sothing like this.

So they firmly believed that the officials would clear things up and that Jian Yu would ultimately return ho safely.

“I’m coming back to Beijing right away.”

“Don’t co back, stay well in Bai Zhong’s place. I’ll keep watch here. Anning, the Shen Family has already rushed to Beijing from Mountain City. Dad has been inford, and he won’t just stand by. Trust us; stay there for a while before coming back.” Even if Shen Ning returned to Beijing now, the institute would suspend any of her research work.

If that’s the case, it’s better not to co back.

Hearing that the Shen Family was coming to Beijing, Shen Ning felt a bit more relieved than before.

Perhaps thinking of Shen Yan being here, Shen Ning hesitated only briefly before nodding, “Okay, I’ll wait for news here.”

Shen Ning, after hanging up the phone, went to Shencheng University to find Shen Yan, but her effort was in vain.

She managed to find out where Shen Yan was currently staying but realized Shen Yan’s location was covert, and she would definitely be detected if she went there.

In the end, she could only ask her hacker friend for help in investigating further.

Shen Yan, in a semi-conscious state, was unaware that Shen Ning was looking for her whereabouts. Not knowing how long she could maintain such a state, and feeling the urge to vomit blood, she imdiately got up and ran to the bathroom, throwing up blood twice.

Seeing the severity of the blood-vomiting and Shen Yan’s pale face, it was all very grave.

Then the door was knocked on.

Suddenly, it tensed Shen Yan’s nerves, and her eyes, which faintly glistened with tears, beca eerily sharp at that mont.
