Chapter 385: Chapter 380: Unease Chapter 385: Chapter 380: Unease Evening.

Shen Yan took off her white lab coat and stepped out of the laboratory to call Qi Si, “Was your father’s surgery successful?”

“Halfway.”

“Halfway?”

“He can use a wheelchair now.”

“Then it wasn’t a success, was it?” If the surgery wasn’t successful, Song Jinwei’s face would darken even more, and who knows, she might even lash out at all the doctors in the hospital.

“In the past, he could only lie down,” Qi Si didn’t want to talk about his father and changed the subject, “Are you done? I’ll co pick you up.”

“Not yet, I ca out to grab so dinner,” Shen Yan rembered sothing and reminded him, “Mr. Qi, make sure you eat on ti too.”

“I’ve already ordered a al,” Qi Si was shuffling papers on the other end, “Don’t overwork yourself. I’ll co get you before ten.”

That ant she had to finish by ten no matter what stage her research was at; she had to leave.

Shen Yan curved her lips in a smile, “Bossy.”

“Mmh.”

Qi Si admitted it.

“Shen Yan,” soone called her from behind, “The canteen food is here, let’s go. What are you chatting about? You seem happy.”

“Nothing, just chatting,” Shen Yan turned back and replied, then covered the phone with her hand and whispered, “I’m going to eat now, Mr. Qi, go have your al soon, don’t end up with a stomach ailnt.”

“Mmh.”

This “mmh” sounded more lighthearted than before.

“Shen Yan, who were you talking to?” After sitting down, an elderly female relative across the table asked with a smile.

“Just family.”

“Does Shen Yan have a boyfriend? I know a great young man over here, four or five years older than you, now already a director at so departnt! Young and promising, good-looking, cos from a good family, quite a match for you!” The woman continuously spilled out her words like a broken faucet.

The n sat quietly, listening.

“Thank you, Aunt Liu, but I’ve already got soone I like.”

After she spoke, Shen Yan looked sowhat shy!

Hearing this, everyone was a bit stunned.

“Does the person you like feel the sa about you?” The elder asked concernedly.

“Yes, I think he likes too,” Shen Yan smiled with curved eyes.

Seeing Shen Yan like this, there was little left unknown.

The docunt verifying Shen Yan’s family background wasn’t public, it was specially investigated by an appointed officer from above, and only a couple of people were privy to her family situation.

So, no one really knew what Shen Yan’s family background was.

Had they known, they wouldn’t have brought up introducing her to soone.

Everyone in the laboratory liked Shen Yan.

Because she was the youngest, but also the most capable; in such an environnt, she was indeed the darling of the group.

Shen Yan really liked the atmosphere of the laboratory!

No one broached the subject again afterward, and they switched to discussing research projects.

*

At nine-thirty in the evening, Shen Yan put down her research work and hurriedly walked out.

Shen Ning also ca out very late, and just as she was about to call soone, she saw Shen Yan sprint out and quickly climb into a black sedan parked by the road.

Shen Ning walked briskly forward a few steps, about to get a clear look at the car’s license plate when her phone rang.

Seeing it was Shen Feng calling, Shen Ning reluctantly pulled her gaze back and answered.

“I’ve just arrived in Beijing, co ho if you’re not busy.”

“Okay, I’ll head back right away.”

Shen Ning wondered why her brother had suddenly co to Beijing.

*

“Going to the hospital?” Shen Yan asked, noticing that the route taken was different.

“Going back to the Qi Mansion.”

Indeed, this route led back to the Qi Mansion, and also passed by the hospital.

Then Shen Yan watched as their car directly passed by the hospital and continued toward the Qi Mansion.

Shen Yan wanted to ask sothing, but swallowed it back.

Upon arriving at the Qi Mansion, Qi Si quickly ushered Shen Yan into the courtyard before rushing off to the Qi Family Conference Hall.

Shen Yan watched Qi Si leave, then turned around to wash up and cuddle with her laptop while working on software, chatting with Lin Shuangxu and the others.

Ti flew by quickly, and when Shen Yan checked the ti, it was already past one o’clock, and Qi Si had not yet returned. She wondered what kind of family eting required such a long ti.

Shen Yan glanced at the suitcase that had never been opened, sat down her computer, and pulled out a cloth bag of bones from the suitcase.

Since bringing them back, Shen Yan had not found a place to bury them and had always kept them close.

She wanted to find a safe place with a good environnt to bury this pile of bones.

Hearing footsteps, Shen Yan quickly stuffed the bones back into the bag, only to look up and see Qi Si entering. “Mr. Qi!”

Shen Yan gave Qi Si a big, bright smile.

Qi Si’s fatigue seed to scatter instantly upon seeing her smile.

“Why are you squatting here?”

Qi Si ca in and helped her up.

“I was looking for my clothes, but couldn’t find them. I must have left them in Shen City.”

“Just buy new ones.”

“I really liked that particular piece. It would be such a waste to buy another exactly the sa,” Shen Yan said with a smile, moving toward the bed as he guided her.

Since they had beco intimate, they had been living in the sa room, and their belongings had slowly rged.

Shen Yan thought, tomorrow I need to find a place to securely keep my bones to prevent Qi Si from accidentally finding them and getting frightened.

Carrying human bones around, Shen Yan felt she was being sowhat morbid.

Qi Si stroked her cheek, looking at her with a gaze so tender it was hard to resist.

“Was there anyone troubling Mr. Qi at the family eting?” she blinked and asked.

Qi Si shook his head: “No one troubles .”

And nobody could.

“It’s quite late, Mr. Qi. You should take a bath and go to bed.”

Qi Si’s eyes deepened, and he leaned down to kiss her lips, his words laced with suggestion: “How about you? Have you bathed yet?”

“I have… I need to go to the research institute tomorrow, Mr. Qi, try to restrain yourself.” Shen Yan’s voice grew fainter.

Qi Si gazed at her, a hint of amusent passing through his eyes, which softened his entire deanor, making him look even more handso and captivating!

The next second, Qi Si pressed her for a prolonged kiss.

By the ti Shen Yan ca to her senses, Qi Si had already entered the bathroom.

If Qi Si insisted, she might have really been lured into the bathroom.

Thinking about how she was increasingly indulging Qi Si’s behavior, Shen Yan buried her head in the blankets in a sort of despair.

“Yanyan.”

The sound of rushing water stopped, followed by Qi Si’s husky voice.

“Hmm?”

“You took the towel out.”

“Oh… I’ll bring it right now.” Without much thought, Shen Yan found the towel she had used for drying her hair and brought it to the bathroom door: “Here you go…”

The door opened, releasing a chill mist.

“Mr. Qi, you’re bathing in cold water again.”

Her words halted, and imdiately after, a force pulled her in, and Shen Yan slamd into his warm yet cool chest.

A hoarse voice sounded near her ear: “Cold water’s not working anymore.”

Shen Yan’s heart trembled.

Holding the towel and looking down, she tacitly allowed his actions.

Qi Si’s eyes were dark and brooding, yet he remained motionless for a long ti.

Confused, Shen Yan looked up and found herself lost in his unfathomable eyes.

Qi Si took the towel from her hand, wiped the water from her face, and spoke in a deep voice, “Go out.”

“You, you an…”

Qi Si gently stroked her cheek: “I’ll be fine soon.”

Shen Yan was led out, looking at the closed bathroom door with slightly furrowed brows.

Why was he suddenly restraining himself?

A sudden feeling crept over Shen Yan that he might be losing interest in her—was it because she wasn’t passionate enough or because he took her for granted now?

Due to Qi Si’s actions, a flood of thoughts rushed through Shen Yan’s mind.

Each thought left her feeling uneasy.
