The courtyard was already buzzing with voices.

As soon as Wei Xiao got out of the car, he saw the chaotic scene in front and imdiately frowned.

"Go over and ask what’s going on."

Wei Minmin hopped over to her uncle’s side, "It looks like two groups of people are arguing."

Others also gathered around.

No one planned on stepping forward rashly.

What if they get caught in the crossfire?

Soon, the person who went to inquire jogged back, looking a bit grim.

"Director Wei, it’s an adventure team clashing with the local search team."

The words adventure and search were barely out, and those quick-witted among them felt a thump in their hearts.

Jiang Lingxi patted Lu Zhengzheng’s hand that suddenly clung to her arm, "Don’t be afraid, let’s listen so more."

"It seems the adventure team disregarded the guide’s warnings and insisted on camping at a popular location they found online. After spending the night there, they discovered the next morning that soone was missing, and the one missing was the leader of the adventure team. The mbers searched the area for a whole day without success, so they contacted the nearby search team, but after two days they still haven’t found anything. Based on past experience, the search team suspects that since there’s been no news for so long, the person might be gone. But the other adventurers refuse to give up and ca back to replenish their supplies. That’s when the conflict erupted before they even had a chance to sit down for a al."

"A person disappeared just like that overnight? Neither alive nor dead?"

"Yes."

Many faces instantly showed signs of panic.

They haven’t even reached their destination yet, and they’ve already encountered such an event.

The deliberately ignored rumors about the dangers of the desert and the Gobi desert suddenly lood in their minds.

Wei Xiao, who just frowned earlier, now felt only distressed.

Taking a deep breath, he said in a deep voice, "Everyone, don’t be afraid, and rest assured, the filming location chosen by our crew was personally scouted by the location team. Additionally, we have hired two wilderness survival experts who, along with the security personnel, will arrive by tomorrow morning. As long as you follow orders and don’t run around at the location, and rember the experts’ advice, nothing will happen until filming ends!"

The assistant director chid in, "Exactly, our crew has over a hundred people, not like their adventure team of only a dozen. We brought everyone here, having taken every caution necessary, so there’s nothing to worry about."

With such words of reassurance, everyone finally cald down a bit and nodded in agreent.

"Alright, when traveling, don’t get involved in things that don’t concern you, we can’t help much in such situations either. Now everyone go eat, because moving forward, there won’t be places like this to eat at, make sure to eat and drink well!"

Bypassing the two parties still in confrontation, Wei Xiao led everyone into the dining hall.

A plump lady in an apron approached and asked in the local accent, "Do you have a reservation?"

"Yes, under the na Wei. We’ve reserved dinner and so supplies."

"Got it, a total of fifteen tables, right? Sit wherever you like, the food will be served shortly." With that, she waved her hand and headed to the kitchen to give instructions.

"Then let’s sit in the sa spots as at noon."

Jiang Lingxi pulled out a wet wipe from her bag to wipe her hands, the conditions being sowhat basic, she didn’t expect to be able to wash her hands.

After cleaning, she looked up to see Chong Yin across the table, watching her and the wet wipe.

When he noticed she caught him, he smiled slightly, "Miss Jiang, may I have one?"

Jiang Lingxi pulled out another, too lazy to get up, and tossed it over.

Chong Yin raised his hand to catch it, "Thank you."

Wei Minmin was originally planning to line up at the faucet to wash her hands, but seeing Mr. Chong shalessly asking for a wet wipe, "Sister Xi..."

Jiang Lingxi gave her a glance and handed her one.

"Hehe, thanks."

The food had to wait a while, so everyone played on their phones, still unable to help but pay attention to the progress of the conflict at the entrance.

The adventure team and the search team were easy to distinguish, not by the clothes they wore, but because the adventurers were visibly more emotional.

Wei Minmin, after wiping her hands, moved her chair closer to Jiang Lingxi’s and whispered, "What do you think happened to the missing adventure team leader? Could there be so kind of conspiracy?"

Jiang Lingxi glanced at her, "Have you heard of a saying?"

"Huh?"

"Curiosity killed the cat."

"It’s fine, as long as it doesn’t kill ."

No sooner did she finish speaking than a woman with a high ponytail from the adventurers’ side, unable to control her emotions, suddenly snatched the car keys from a companion, "You all don’t want to go? Fine, I’ll go alone!" she said, pushing away a mber of the search team blocking her path and running to a desert off-road vehicle parked in the courtyard.

The vehicle started swiftly and was out of the courtyard in the blink of an eye.

So crisp that others didn’t have ti to react.

Once they ca back to their senses, no one cared about the standoff anymore, "Quick, chase her! Going into the desert alone, she’s crazy, it’s like courting death!"

Wei Minmin broke apart a pair of disposable chopsticks, dumbfounded at the developnts at the entrance, "My gosh, that woman’s got so guts! I bet she has an unusual relationship with that missing adventure team leader."

Jiang Lingxi withdrew her gaze and nodded in agreent this ti, "It’s possible."

But exactly what their relationship was, she couldn’t say for certain.

"Sister Xi, what do you think their relationship might be?"

Jiang Lingxi looked at the food just set on the table, wanting to stuff it into the mouth that kept yamring next to her, "Just eat, it’s not sothing you need to worry about."

Wei Minmin could only restrain her curiosity.

Everyone, including Wei Xiao, considered this just a small episode encountered during their journey, and after dinner, they had about half an hour of rest ti.

So went to the restroom, while others visited the small shop adjoining the courtyard entrance.

Wei Minmin and Lu Zhengzheng wanted to buy so things, and Jiang Lingxi, not minding either way, went along with them.

Shops in places like this can’t be compared to those in the city; they are simple and limited, but also sell items that would never appear in city stores.

For instance, potions with special functions to drive away desert insects, genuine handcrafted leather vests and boots, and small knives or forearm-long daggers—local specialties.

Almost everyone ca out of the shop laden with bags, even Jiang Lingxi, who initially hadn’t planned to buy anything, acquired a palm-sized dagger with a dark glow.

It looked like a toy, but Jiang Lingxi discreetly tested its sharpness.

The effect was very satisfying.

From now on, she was soone with a weapon!

However, Lu Zhengzheng didn’t understand, "Sister Xixi, I brought a folding fruit knife, is it really necessary to buy another? Besides, yours is way too expensive!"

She bought a big bag full of food and supplies, none of which cost more than this small dagger.

Jiang Lingxi, whose dagger had been mistaken for a potential fruit cutter: "...Just a backup, what if yours gets lost?"

"True, if it falls and gets buried in the sand, it would be hard to find. But aren’t there cheaper ones? If you lose this one, wouldn’t it be a pity?"

"Don’t worry. If I lose you, I won’t lose it."

Changning, who was helping to carry the bags, listened to their conversation and quietly held back a laugh.

As soon as they returned to the car, the convoy set off again.

Although the overhead moon was quite bright, the convoy’s headlights were all turned on as night fell.

Lighting was secondary; the main purpose was to deter potential dangerous animals.

The further they went, away from human habitation, the quieter it beca.

Jiang Lingxi looked at the phone screen where the signal was no longer full, and hesitantly sent out a period, only to see the circle in front of the ssage box spin and spin, finally showing ’Sending failed’.

"Sister Xixi," Changning glanced at the rearview mirror and turned around, "Don’t worry, Tiger’s car is equipped with a satellite phone."

Wei Minmin, originally half-asleep, woke up at the sound of conversation and instinctively asked, "Who’s Tiger, what car?"

Changning pointed to the glow of a light ahead, the shape of the vehicle indistinct in the bright moonlight, "There, we’ve arrived."
