Jiang Lingxi always knew that Shen Yunqing was remarkably persistent in whatever he did.

She really admired that quality.

But if this persistence ant he would keep holding her wrist, then she’d rather Shen Yunqing not be so determined.

An hour later, Jiang Lingxi fished out her vibrating phone from under the pillow, turned off the alarm, and got up. She glanced at her wrist, still tightly held, and tried to pull it free, but to no avail.

The person on the bed remained in the sa position, sleeping soundly, with even the folds in the blanket unchanged. Jiang Lingxi used her other free hand to check Shen Yunqing’s forehead, then breathed a sigh of relief.

The fever hadn’t returned, so the risk was minimal.

She lay back down, becoming used to having her wrist held for over an hour, and soon drifted back into a slumber.

*

Early the next morning.

Xu Ling’an, as usual, got up and went to sit with Jiang Lingxi for a bit before heading to the film set together.

If they t Wei Minmin on the way, the three of them would go together.

Lu Zhengzheng opened the door for her and greeted her out of habit, "An’an, you’re here."

"Zhengzheng, good morning."

Xu Ling’an entered but didn’t see Jiang Lingxi in the living room, "Is sister not awake yet?"

"No, I just got up too. An’an, have a seat, I’ll go call Xixi." Lu Zhengzheng rubbed her drowsy eyes and almost walked with them shut to Jiang Lingxi’s bedroom door.

When she pushed open the door and saw the empty bed, not even with a blanket on it, the mories ca flooding back.

She instinctively closed the door again.

Hearing the sound, Xu Ling’an turned her head, "What’s going on, Zhengzheng?"

"Uh, well, um..."

Lu Zhengzheng couldn’t help but scratch her head, wondering how to explain that Xixi hadn’t slept in her own room at all last night!

*

In the room next door.

Last night, Jiang Lingxi and He Zhu’s attention was focused on the feverish Shen Yunqing, and they didn’t notice that the bedroom curtains weren’t fully drawn.

As the first light of dawn appeared, without curtains to block it, it shone into the room, causing the person on the bed to flutter their eyelashes and slowly open their eyes.

With waking up, the mories of last night also returned.

Shen Yunqing sat up on the bed almost imdiately, even feeling dizzy for a few seconds from moving too quickly.

Once the discomfort from the abrupt motion post-illness passed, he imdiately and cautiously looked towards the edge of the bed.

When he saw the face still peacefully sleeping on the makeshift bed on the floor, the last bit of wishful thinking in his heart vanished.

It’s true, Your Majesty!

He then slowly looked at his hand, which was holding sothing. Unsurprisingly, he had been holding it all night.

For the first ti in his life, he cautiously and clumsily crawled off the bed, his feet hitting the carpet beside it.

Though quite soft, it couldn’t compare to the bed.

He hesitated for two seconds, then half-knelt down, ready to lift the person onto the bed.

Jiang Lingxi didn’t wake when light appeared in the room.

Nor did she wake when her wrist was released.

But the mont she felt soone slide an arm under her back and the crook of her knees touch her body, she instinctively reached out, locking onto the intruder’s neck even before opening her eyes.

Shen Yunqing: "Cough, Your Majesty, it’s !"

Jiang Lingxi paused her action, then opened her eyes the next second.

"What are you doing?"

"I wanted to carry you to bed. Your Majesty, your hand."

Jiang Lingxi released her grip from his neck, using her elbows to try and sit up.

But as soon as she exerted force, her arm went weak.

Shen Yunqing quickly reached out to support her, "Careful."

Jiang Lingxi glanced at her suddenly weakened arm, noticing a red mark on her wrist.

"Look at what you did!"

Shen Yunqing helped her up, imdiately lowered his head, and sincerely admitted his mistake, "My bad."

Jiang Lingxi: "...Not pretending anymore?"

"Your Majesty already knows."

Jiang Lingxi suddenly understood, "You rember everything that happened last night, don’t you?"

Shen Yunqing silently nodded.

In his hazy state, when he instinctively called out ’Your Majesty,’ he knew there was no more hope for avoiding this.

Jiang Lingxi rubbed her wrist, "Why didn’t I realize how clingy you were before?"

Shen Yunqing: "...Last night, thank you, Your Majesty."

"As long as you know." Jiang Lingxi glared at him, picked up a shawl, and nudged the blanket, "Fold it up."

Shen Yunqing squatted down and started folding the blanket when a knock on the door sounded.

Jiang Lingxi walked over to open it.

He Zhu stood outside, lowering his gaze, not daring to look around, "Good morning, Miss Jiang, I ca to check on the boss..."

His words trailed off when Jiang Lingxi stepped aside, revealing his boss who was seriously folding the blanket on the floor, leaving him speechless.

"Boss, let , let handle the folding."

He Zhu’s hand, reaching over, was blocked by Shen Yunqing, "You fold the one on the bed."

He Zhu: "..."

While the two were folding the blanket, Jiang Lingxi went to the living room and got two glasses of water. She drank one and handed the other, along with so pills, to Shen Yunqing when he erged from the bedroom, "Take your dicine."

Shen Yunqing took the pills and water cup, swallowing the dicine with the water without hesitation.

"Do you still feel uncomfortable? You have scenes to shoot today; can you manage?"

"I can."

Jiang Lingxi wasn’t surprised by Shen Yunqing’s answer.

After all, he was the Pri Minister Shen, who could endure an arrow wound and race on horseback for a day and night, only resting when he handed over evidence to her himself.

But recalling what He Zhu ntioned last night, she couldn’t help but remind him, "If you can’t hold on, just say so, don’t push yourself."

Shen Yunqing’s eyes lit up, "Alright."

"Good morning!" Wei Minmin waved to Lu Zhengzheng and Xu Ling’an, who had just co out of the room, "Where’s Xixi?"

Lu Zhengzheng and Xu Ling’an were montarily stunned.

They had co out intentionally a bit earlier today, planning to et Xixi in the restaurant.

Unexpectedly, they ran into Wei Minmin as soon as they stepped out.

"Looking for ?"

The door to the next room opened, and Wei Minmin looked over at the sound, "Xixi, why have you changed..."

The following "rooms" words were swallowed back when she saw Shen Yunqing standing behind Jiang Lingxi.

"Ahaha, good morning, both of you. Hungry, right? Why don’t we head downstairs for breakfast together?"

Jiang Lingxi looked at Wei Minmin’s struggling-to-maintain smile, "I’ll go change in my room."

Only then did Wei Minmin notice that Jiang Lingxi was wearing a nightgown under her shawl, quickly nodding and stepping aside from the doorway.

After a mont of eerie silence in the corridor, Xu Ling’an glanced at Wei Minmin, then at Shen Yunqing. Thinking about what Lu Zhengzheng told her earlier about Mr. Shen catching a cold and fever last night, she asked, "Brother-in-law, I heard from Zhengzheng that you had a fever last night. Are you feeling better now?"

Shen Yunqing looked at the young girl resembling Jin’an in front of him, smiling as he nodded, "Thanks to your sister’s care, I feel much better."

Wei Minmin almost choked on her saliva, unable to hold back a few coughs.

She absolutely mustn’t admit she had been thinking the wrong thing!
