8:00 PM.

Jiang Lingxi brought out the freshly stewed pork rib soup, only to see her phone on the dining table vibrating wildly.

She calmly put down the soup, then picked up the phone to unlock it and opened the ssage from Lu Zhengzheng.

"Sister Xixi, co on, tell it’s not you!"

Attached was a screenshot of her with a blue wig and glasses.

Jiang Lingxi: "...It’s , you found it?"

Lu Zhengzheng quickly replied: "I like to scroll through short videos while eating, and suddenly, I stumbled upon you beating up three high school students."

Jiang Lingxi glanced at the untouched dinner she had just prepared on the table, and simply started a video call. After setting the phone down, she served herself a small bowl of pork rib soup, took a sip, and then said, "I just went out in disguise for so fun, got roped into playing a ga. You saw it, you saw it."

Seeing the delicious food on the screen, Lu Zhengzheng looked at her own duck ruined by Sprite and swallowed a mouthful of saliva before asking, "Sister Xixi, aren’t you afraid of being recognized by everyone?"

"I think my disguise is quite decent," Jiang Lingxi looked at Lu Zhengzheng expressionlessly, "You can recognize because you’ve seen the real and are often by my side. But most of the people out there have only seen my photos or videos, not in person. Do they think the Jiang Lingxi who wears a wig and glasses and squeezes into the subway is really Jiang Lingxi?"

Lu Zhengzheng couldn’t help but nod, "If I hadn’t seen you in this getup, I wouldn’t believe you could disguise yourself like this. So, other people wouldn’t think of it either. Wait, Sister Xixi, you even took the subway?"

Jiang Lingxi nodded. To be precise, she had ridden all of this city’s public transport in the past two days, and she had to admit it was quite convenient.

That part wasn’t really necessary to ntion.

"Then, Sister Xixi, about you being on this short video, shouldn’t you inform Sister Tong? Just in case—just in case one of your hardcore fans recognizes you..."

"I have hardcore fans?"

The question left Lu Zhengzheng montarily speechless.

What a question.

She stamred, "Maybe not hardcore fans for your looks, but there might be so among the haters."

This ti, it was Jiang Lingxi who was left speechless.

She rubbed her temples, waving her hand, "Fine, just give her a heads-up."

"Then you eat first, Sister Xixi. I’ll contact Sister Tong."

After ending the video call, Jiang Lingxi rapidly cleared the amount of food in front of her using the speed of her previous military training.

She had a feeling that once Lu Zhengzheng contacted Tong Yue, Tong Yue’s call would co soon after.

Sure enough, she hadn’t even put the dishes in the dishwasher when the phone rang.

"Sister Tong."

"I saw the short video."

"Nicely shot, well edited, and you got the thousand-yuan reward, right?"

"Yeah, cash."

Tong Yue couldn’t help but take a deep breath, "You’re unbelievable, going out disguised as a delinquent girl and bullying those high school students!"

"What does delinquent girl an?" Jiang Lingxi first expressed her confusion, then defended herself, "I wouldn’t call it bullying. It was a friendly contest, just a bit of a skill gap. I didn’t expect those kids to be so weak."

Tong Yue, who had just finished tutoring her child’s howork, felt her blood pressure soaring even higher, "Delinquent girl... never mind, I misspoke. Yours was indeed a friendly contest. Your archery is so precise, how could toy guns be any different? You had to shoot them dozens of tis to eliminate them? So, why target those high school students?"

Silence was the only answer she got.

Tong Yue waited patiently, feeling her blood surge as her head began to ache, "You’re not saying, so there must be a reason. Anyway, the video is already up, I just checked, and it’s got over ten thousand likes. Deleting it now would be pointless. From now on, rember one thing: you are a public figure. Even with legitimate reasons, you must consider the consequences of your actions..."

From soaking in the bath to lying in bed, Jiang Lingxi, exhausted, finally interrupted Tong Yue’s rambling, "Sister Tong, I need to rest."

Tong Yue: "...Did you rember everything I said?"

"Yeah, rembered."

"...Go to sleep."

Ending the call, Tong Yue touched her now-hot phone and sighed.

She really was born to worry!

*

Perhaps the aftereffects of last night’s ramblings were too strong. The next morning, when Jiang Lingxi heard the phone ringing, her first instinct was to reach out and end the call.

With the ’noise’ gone, she lay in bed for a while before opening her eyes to glance at the ti.

8:05 AM.

Jiang Lingxi turned over and sat up.

Just as she was about to return the call while slipping on her slippers, the doorbell rang.

Jiang Lingxi: "..."

Could it really be this fast!

She opened the door.

Outside, Shen Yunqing was impeccably dressed, with even his hair styled ticulously. Inside, Jiang Lingxi’s long hair was still a bit ssy, and she was wearing a shawl over her pajamas.

They stared at each other in silence for a mont.

Jiang Lingxi: At this mont, she particularly missed Qing Yuan.

Finally, Shen Yunqing broke the silence at the door. He lifted the food box in his hand, "I thought you might not have had breakfast, so I brought so over."

He had originally planned to eat in the car, but when the call he made was hung up imdiately, he had no choice but to bring the food box up.

"Co in, make yourself at ho."

Even though she said ’make yourself at ho,’ Shen Yunqing didn’t dare act casually.

He placed the food box on the dining table, pulled out a chair, and sat down primly, not letting his eyes wander.

Jiang Lingxi wrapped her shawl tighter, glanced at the straight-backed Shen Yunqing, "Let freshen up a bit."

"Okay."

When she returned with her hair tied up and changed into fresh clothes, she saw the food from the box had been laid out neatly on the table, with the chopsticks and spoons set properly.

Walking to the dining table, Jiang Lingxi noticed the dishes were all ones she particularly liked and shifted her gaze to Shen Yunqing’s face.

The last ti she visited him, he was sick and wore a mask the entire ti, so she hadn’t seen his full face.

Now, with no mask, his true face was captivating and naturally ford as if sculpted.

Gazing at the face, sowhat reminiscent of her mory but much younger, Jiang Lingxi found herself thinking.

It was ant to be.

This person, in her eyes, was supposed to look just like this.

After sitting and taking a sip of the perfectly sweet porridge, Jiang Lingxi suddenly spoke, "Shen Yunqing."

"Yes?"

Jiang Lingxi paused, the spoon in her hand stopping montarily, "Can I take a look at your Shen Family’s genealogy?"
