Shen Fanyun!
Yu Tai's face twitched, his expression instantly turning solemn.
That na had recently beco incredibly famous in Hangcheng City. With everyone in town buzzing about him, how could Yu Tai be unaware? How on earth did his granddaughter get mixed up with such a nace? Theoretically, their paths should never have crossed. Did she have incredibly good luck or incredibly bad luck to have provoked him?
"Shen… Shen Fanyun?" Yu Zhou bit her lip, finding it just as unbelievable. What a small world.
She had just wanted to casually show off her local influence, and in the process, she had inadvertently kicked a hornet's nest.
This was a man who dared to put Han Feng in the hospital. No wonder he dared to strike at her.
Setting aside whatever background this young man might have, his current attitude showed that he didn't even fear the Han Family. Since he looked down on the Han Family, the Yu Family wasn't necessarily any nobler. To Shen Fanyun, it seed everyone was the sa; he had no qualms about challenging the Yu Family's authority either. Furthermore, the man's skills were genuinely formidable. Even the top experts of the Yu Clan, who served as household guards, couldn't withstand a single move from him. This…
"So, it's you." Considering Shen Fanyun was not soone to be trifled with, Yu Tai softened his expression, shedding his previously arrogant deanor. "Young man, you've made quite a na for yourself in Hangcheng City. Your recent exploits are the talk of the town. I've heard a great deal about you!"
In Hangcheng City, there were very few locals whom Yu Tai would treat with such courtesy.
"As the saying goes, 'out of conflict cos friendship.' Why don't we each take a step back? As a gesture of goodwill, allow to host a simple al for you today. What do you say?" Yu Tai proposed.
Yu Zhou seethed internally, finding the insult hard to swallow. Her people had been beaten up by Shen Fanyun, yet instead of seeking revenge, her grandfather actually wanted to invite the man to dinner after learning his na. Heh. Was this guy really that difficult to handle? Just because he beat Han Feng, did that make him invincible? Couldn't it be that the Han Family had been careless, giving Shen Fanyun an opening? The Han Family was probably already preparing their response. Shen Fanyun would be torn to shreds soon enough. Yu Zhou refused to believe that so young man who appeared out of nowhere had the power to topple a titan like Han Long. If Han Long were that weak, he wouldn't have been able to wield such power in Hangcheng City and build his influence to its current scale. He certainly wouldn't have been able to dominate the region with such a fearso reputation.
"My grandfather is offering you a graceful exit. Why aren't you thanking him? What are you standing there for?" Yu Zhou prompted Shen Fanyun reluctantly.
"These days, am I supposed to be grateful just because any Tom, Dick, or Harry offers a way out?" Shen Fanyun raised an eyebrow, shooting Yu Zhou a dismissive glance.
Yu Zhou and Yu Tai were both speechless.
The remark not only infuriated Yu Zhou but also served as a slap to Yu Tai's face. As a veteran figure in the local scene, didn't he at least deserve to be called venerable and respected? Yet in Shen Fanyun's eyes, he was just so "Tom, Dick, or Harry"?
What an arrogant young man! He had taken the initiative to de-escalate, trying to turn a big problem into a small one. Not only was the boy ungrateful, but he was also pushing his luck.
"Young… young man…" Yu Tai tried again to reason with him.
SWISH!
A chilling aura descended upon the scene. Yu Tai, who had just opened his mouth, froze, his expression turning wary. He chose not to make any rash moves. Shen Fanyun's strength was too formidable to be treated lightly.
"Now you have ti. Why don't you ask your granddaughter what exactly she did? And whether or not she was in the wrong?" Shen Fanyun asked Yu Tai with a calm, almost breezy smile.
Yu Tai took a deep breath and turned to glance at Yu Zhou, his face stern, solemn, and strict.
Yu Zhou flinched. Compelled by her grandfather's authority, she stepped forward to explain, "I… I was just here to look around. Then… then his woman got in my way. I was in a hurry and said a few things to her. Just complaining a little about being blocked isn't a big deal, right? Unexpectedly, his woman's mouth was filthy, and she actually called a bitch! How could I tolerate that? Grandfather, it really wasn't my fault. It was my bad luck to run into an uncultured, impolite person. I was completely innocent! I was just defending myself!"
Yu Zhou gave Yu Tai a condensed version of the events, posturing as the victim the entire ti. She looked pitiful and on the verge of tears, as if she had suffered a monuntal injustice.
She knew full well how much of her story was true, and so did Shen Fanyun.
When Yu Zhou finished her explanation, Shen Fanyun said nothing. He simply stood over her, looking down at the nearby girl with a smile that wasn't a smile.
An invisible pressure, like the Sword of Damocles, hung over the young miss of the Yu Family, sending a chill down her spine. Yu Zhou's confidence suddenly evaporated. Her heart pounded in a panic, and her eyes darted away, avoiding Shen Fanyun's gaze.
"This… this matter…" Yu Tai began to speak.
But seeing his granddaughter's state, he instantly understood what was going on. Besides, didn't he know what his granddaughter was usually like? Her arrogance was well-known to everyone in Hangcheng City. Even if he wanted to clear Yu Zhou's na, he couldn't wash away the stain. A person notorious for her misdeeds becoming a victim? Being innocent? Everyone here isn't a fool. The facts were as solid as iron; how could they be denied?
"Are you sure that's your explanation?" Shen Fanyun asked coolly.
Yu Zhou was silent for a mont before summoning her courage. "I've explained everything clearly, so what more do you want? What's with the aggressive attitude? Heh, was anything I said wrong? Besides, I'm a girl! Isn't it a bit petty for you to be so harsh? What's wrong with a real man letting a girl off the hook?!"
She was utterly self-righteous, acting as if it were her due!
"Do you not have a clear understanding of your own situation? Do you really think you're safe just because your grandfather is standing here? Denying everything without proof, even turning the tables and biting back?"
BAM!
Shen Fanyun's hand whipped out in a slap. Caught completely off guard, Yu Zhou was sent flying several ters. Before she could even react, she coughed up a spray of blood.
"Cough, cough." Yu Zhou gasped, blood spilling from her lips as her face turned pale.
Shen Fanyun's sudden move had left her breathless with fear. This man was too brutal and showed no rcy toward won. He was ruthless and unrestrained. He acted without any regard for her background or family, completely indifferent, striking whenever he pleased!
What terrible luck today, running into such a rciless monster! And the worst part was, her own grandfather had no effective way to restrain Shen Fanyun, leaving her to take the beating. She felt like she was already half-dead.
