"What exactly do you an?" Wen Ruyue scrutinized Shen Fanyun with a piercing gaze, as if calling him to account.

"What I an," Shen Fanyun said, "is do you really think your real-life persona is any more noble than the villainous supporting character written in this script?

"Others might not know any better, deceived by the image you’ve so carefully constructed, but don’t you have any self-awareness? Have you been playing a role for so long that you actually believe you’re a good person?"

Right. This guy wasn’t just making veiled jabs anymore. He was openly mocking her by na, calling her worthless.

"I don’t believe I’ve offended you, have I?" she asked. "Is it necessary to go this far? You’re slandering and defaming . If I decide to press the issue, you’ll have to face the consequences."

Wen Ruyue took a deep breath. Analyzing the situation, she realized Shen Fanyun wasn’t here to film properly at all; he was targeting her specifically.

But just to pick a fight with her, he was willing to spend so much—tens of millions, even a hundred million? Is he out of his mind?

"Are you sure you want to walk off the set?" Shen Fanyun couldn’t be bothered to respond to her directly. He continued, "If you’re certain, I will hire the top legal team in the country to file a lawsuit against you."

Is he serious, or is he just trying to scare her?

"Do you think I’m easily scared?" Wen Ruyue scoffed. Besides, she had her own background and connections. If it really cos down to a fight, it’s not certain who will co out on top.

But she still didn’t understand why Shen Fanyun was targeting her. They had never t before and had no prior interactions. There was simply no basis or opportunity for a feud to develop between them.

"Hmm?"

Wen Ruyue suddenly arched an eyebrow. As realization slowly dawned on her, she finally understood—it was because of Lu Feiyan!

No wonder. That explains how Lu Feiyan could still land such a major project even after that huge public scandal. Her reputation and public image were completely unscathed. It turns out Shen Fanyun is her powerful backer. So that’s it. The pieces all fit. Shen Fanyun is targeting her to get justice for Lu Feiyan!

Could it be? Has her sche to fra Lu Feiyan been exposed? Her plan was flawless. Even if there had been a few hiccups, there was no way it could be traced back to her. Yet here is Shen Fanyun, Lu Feiyan’s backer, who has not only found her but has also set this entire stage just to trap her.

"Realized sothing?" Shen Fanyun asked, his hands clasped behind his back. He looked down at Wen Ruyue, a smirk playing on his lips.

Wen Ruyue’s eyes darted back and forth as she remained silent.

She can’t admit to it. That would be confessing without even being questioned.

"I don’t know what you’re talking about," Wen Ruyue huffed, digging her heels in. "Either way, I’m not continuing with this film. Do what you want. Even if you sue , I’ll fight you to the end."

"Fine." Shen Fanyun nodded and imdiately made a call to Capital City, making no effort to hide it from anyone present.

"Tell Qin Lie to arrange for the legal team to co to Hangcheng City."

SNAP!

He hung up abruptly. The instruction was just a single, concise sentence.

"Qin Lie?" Wang Xiao’s ears perked up, and he sucked in a sharp breath. Could it be *the* Qin Lie?

The staff mbers present all exchanged looks, their faces a mixture of shock and utter disbelief. Just who is this powerful backer, this Boss Shen? The great attorney, Qin Lie! In the country’s legal circles, he’s a legendary figure. He has been in seclusion for years; an ordinary case could never hope to secure his services. And once he cos out of retirent for a case, a victory is practically guaranteed! The man has never lost. His professional expertise is top-tier; he is the undisputed king of the legal world.

The crucial point was that Shen Fanyun hadn’t *invited* him. He had *commanded* him, like a master giving an order to a subordinate. He just said the word and didn’t even need to follow up.

"Are you bluffing? Do you think I’m that gullible?" Wen Ruyue’s heart tightened. Is he really going to sue ? And he’s bringing in Qin Lie? She knows that with a lawyer of his caliber, her situation will beco incredibly difficult, especially since she’s in the wrong to begin with. Isn’t this just walking right into a trap?

"You think soone like you can get Qin Lie to co out?" Wen Ruyue asked with a sarcastic sneer, probing him.

Shen Fanyun shrugged, the picture of nonchalance. "Just wait and see. By the way, I don’t need to *get* him to do anything."

The phone call made it clear: Shen Fanyun was giving orders, telling Qin Lie to act.

Wen Ruyue’s mind went blank. Shen Fanyun was too confident, so sure of himself that it seed like he had everything under his complete control. His confidence made it impossible for her to tell if he was bluffing or if he truly possessed such power.

Then again, he dared to drop fifty million just to lure her into this trap, which proves he has imnse financial backing. Planning other sches against her wouldn’t be difficult for him...

Wen Ruyue’s breathing grew ragged. She was suddenly at a complete loss.

Should she leave or stay? If she leaves and Shen Fanyun really brings in Qin Lie, she’ll lose the lawsuit, one hundred percent. She’ll also have to pay a sky-high penalty for breach of contract. A loss like that could financially cripple her. But stay? What a joke. Shen Fanyun has orchestrated this grand performance for the sole purpose of utterly humiliating her, stripping away her dignity and reputation. Staying here is tantamount to courting death. Worst of all, if Shen Fanyun does sothing to her during the shoot, it will all fall within the realm of acceptable actions during a performance. There will be no grounds to call it targeting or revenge.

As she considered all this, Wen Ruyue drew a sharp breath. She finally realized she had been completely played.

This Shen Fanyun is a master of manipulation! She has never t anyone so infuriating!

"Miss Wen, have you decided whether to stay or go?" Shen Fanyun reminded her, a brilliant, nonchalant smile on his face that showed off his pearly white teeth.

The sight made Wen Ruyue’s chest tighten. The more she looks at him, the more repulsive he becos!

"You... you think you can bully ?" Wen Ruyue forced herself to remain calm. "Heh, have you considered who’s backing ? You should know that a person of my status inevitably has powerful patrons. You just try and lay a hand on ."

If they really tear away all pretenses, it won’t just be a personal grudge anymore. It will be a showdown between their respective financial backers.

Shen Fanyun seed to consider this. He nodded and reminded her, "Then by all ans, have your backer co and rescue you. I’ll even give you ti to call for backup."

Wen Ruyue was left speechless. His confidence was overwhelming, so absolute that it made her question her entire reality.
